    As soon as you upgrade all branding is eliminated. You can add a domain very easily. Why not talk about SEO or something credible?

    hey, I wont disagree with what you are saying. I am confused a bit though. I currently use wix. My domain does not include wix and my website does not contain any adds. I do pay around 150 a year to keep my domain. And my website is very basic (just portfolio). I am aware you probably know much more than I do about web development and design. However I wanted to point out that you appear biased as you are only revealing wix in its most basic package.

      @Matthew Tejada it takes 10 seconds looking using the inspect tool to see it was made with wix. Or searching on a site like builtwith ...it takes less than a minute to see that it is wix. Even if you pay for the branding to go away the same principles he named still apply like you don't own the website.

      Went from wix to wordpress. We could do infinitely more with our website and due to proper page structures and links our SEO and our business increased accordingly. Wix is not responsive (its adaptive -big difference), cant do custom functions and when you start to get more than 20ish pages its unworkable on the menu. Lost pages and even lost our site due to corruption once. If you like wix your competition will most likely love you.

    Great video from developers perspective. But! Let's get into the average Joe's shoes! He doesn't know shit about coding he might heared of wix (maybe). What businesses care about is if the site is stable, if it's good for seo, if it scales properly across all devices. Thus I was looking more for information if the sites are any good, do they actually deliver?

      Cristal Hernandez I switched from shopify to wix and love it!!! This gentleman sounds bitter about losing business. He talks about being in control of your life and that’s why I switched to a host that I am in control of what I need done, not waiting for a programmer to work on it and then overcharge me for a simple html Code. Try them all and figure what works for you. Pay the $24 per month to remove ads and such and you’ll be fine.

      I have used wordpress , let me tell you for online stores . Dont do it. The plugin woocommerce is fine but the problem is , if you dont update any plugin your store will shutdown or even if the plugin you installed is uncompatible. Shopify is good for ecomm. Nd wix thats what am searching to get my business website.

      Correct... wordpress is phenomenal for web development. It takes skills but it suits many small / med / some large web development projects. The ONLY thing i would give to wix is its simplicity. But thats because its adaptive - not responsive. Adaptive frameworks are limiting - they do not look good on every device and rank lower seo wise. If you are not a web developer and dont mind looking like an amateur - or never intend to compete in the real world then use wix! You could never imagine the sales you missed out on.

    up to this video I only heard good things about wix. is it possible Tony is just a bit frustrated to lose potential clients to wix. ...although if they go with it as he mentions they might not go with him no matter what. it would have been much more helpful to compare what a designer can do than just complaining about a well-received system.

    • @lus
      @lus  7 лет назад

      A Wix client normally can't afford our services. Our minimal website cost $5,000 so it's two different markets. The point I was making was that in WIX you don't own anything. And you won't ever get organic traffic since it's a WIX domain.

    • @themanthemyth7950
      @themanthemyth7950 6 лет назад

      What he say ^^^... This is one of the main reasons I stopped and got out that business.... PEOPLE are CHEAPPPPPPP and are not willing to pay... So you often come across those types, that see the commercials, the ads or tell them "Why pay this or what, when this is free", etc.... It SUCKS.... That organic traffic is a MAJOR factor and wix can go "POOF" and you are assed out... Google doesn't respect Wix domains, I think Wix is far less secure as well.... Only an amateur and/or someone NOT serious about their business would have a wix site...

    • @general38
      @general38 6 лет назад +1

      There are hundreds of reasons why wix doesnt cut for a serious company. Were not talking about pictures and text. Have a look how wix scores with the business world on builtwith. Wix is miniscule compared to the open source frameworks - so you have to ask yourself why. Could it be that the business world is dumb and they have not discovered wix? Open source is harder to build with - because its infinitely more powerful. Most people cant see past the pictures and text - but there is much more and the average person doesn't understand many of the reasons. By the time a tech guy explains 1/2 these things most people are lost and think its too hard. Thats because website design and development done right is hard. You have to use and experience both for a period of time to really understand how limited wix is.

    "If you don't pay you get kicked out" sooo exactly like a physical business location renting a space? Also all branding is removed depending on what wix subscription you buy. And yes, large businesses don't use wix. Of course they don't! Large businesses also don't own tiny pop up shops. That doesn't mean either are bad? You are assuming that small businesses WANT to appear as a big faceless corporation. I gotta say I don't really think this review was well informed or explained. It seems very 1 view oriented

    You are "at the mercy" of anyone you use to design/host your website. Unless you own your own servers and write your own code.. this line of reasoning is not valid. Wix is great as you can access and design on demand. Fly by night graphics people that will hold your website hostage are not always the way to go unless you have deep pockets.

    Ty you have misinformed your listeners. Wix is not cheap. It does not show the Wix brand once you have paid to get rid of their advertising. Their basic package fee is 2 x the cost of others and it costs a fortune to buy extra services. I have paid US $ 300 for another website with more functions than Wix, but I continue to use it because it is easy to use. I like being free from the web-nurds who what to charge me stupid fees for nothing. Other may have another point of view. That's fine by me.

  • @allamericanguardian1704

    I totally agree with you Guttulus. The majority of the comments on here display the lack of understanding of how websites work. You're exactly right about "not owning the content" on a Wix site. I use this analogy to help people understand:
    Having your own website using something like Wordpress (.org not .com) and choosing your own hosting company is like have a cell phone that is unlocked and you can get service anywhere you choose while keeping your phone and your phone number.
    Having a Wix website is like having a locked phone that you can only use with AT&T and if you leave AT&T you'll have to get a new phone and a new phone number.
    Now if you have Wix and everything stays running smoothly, no design issues, no slow loading pages, no SEO issues, no mobile issues, etc. then that's great....as long as it stays that way.
    But, if you want full control and freedom and NO limitations on how you build your website and what you put on it, then you'll need to choose something other than Wix. Wix has limitations that custom built websites do not have.
    If you have a custom built WordPress website hosted at Hosting Company #1 and you have issues with price or slow servers or whatever, you can just take your cloned copy of your WordPress site and move the whole thing to Hosting Company #2 or any hosting company you want. You can't do that with Wix.
    Bottom line: Wix has many limitations that custom built sites do not have.
