How to fix a slow running faucet. Easy DIY Tip to clean a faucet head. Cleaning the aerator is the key to getting your faucet running full flow. Grab a few small balloons and 'CLR" remover from you local hardware store. Put the CLR into the balloon, put the bolloon over the faucet head and slide the balloon up until the CLR cover the end of the faucet. Let it set overnight, remove and the remove the faucet aerator from the faucet, clean and replace. That all there is to this quick fix for faucets that have a slow flow rate. - Хобби
I have been trying for WEEKS to get the aerator off the faucet in the bathroom sink. Tried vinegar treatments and even a small pipe wrench. No luck until I saw this video, it worked wonderfully in just less than a 24 hour soak with a balloon as you demonstrate. I used the pipe wrench, it did distort the aerator but repositioning the wrenched helped unlock the oval shape that the wrench grip caused and it slowly moved and it was full of grit and rust. My hat is off to you and I'm off to get a new aerator and it will be installed with some plumbers grease or anti-seize compound as a plumber installed it 8 years ago. I am grateful to you sir!
I’m pleased that my video help you solve your faucet problem. Thanks for watching.
Yes, it worked very well for me too! I impressed.
Nice trick with balloon. I would consider shutting the drain while working with the filter. They have a way of disappearing.
Hey CLR turned your granite countertop white!
Thanks so much it actually worked! I've wanted to put a water filter on my faucet but could never get the aerator off. (Finally learned what it's called) I had everything but a balloon so cut rubber glove and used a small rubber band. At first I thought it wouldn't work but then I felt it move and after a couple of turns, the aerator just came off. I can now use a water purifier and stop buying bottled water. It's the little things that make me so happy😊
You have a new subscriber👍
Necessity is the mother of invention, whether it’s a balloon or rubber glove as long as it works.
Thank you so much for this, I'm gonna give this a go now!
Thanks so much man. Will be using this trick for certain. You are the man. Much appreciated. RUclips is an amazing place. We get to meet awesome, helpful people like you. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks for your kind comments and yes it is a good tip.
Great idea with the baloon!
Thank you ! I still wasn’t able to get the thing off, but it cleaned it out enough to make it work much better :)
Glad I could help!
Thank you. This helped me remove the aerator. However I think I may need a new aerator since I took all the insides of the aerator out and still have issues.
Nice..simple quick affordable...me like🤓👍
Many people have 'cached' aerators and cannot twist the aerators off with the small plastic tools usually suggested. The tools have small 'teeth' and do not grip the aerator well enough.
Best trick I saw for a stuck aerator was to use pliers that have rubber coated handles and use the ‘handles’ to grip the aerator. Don’t squeeze too hard or you might distort the aerator.
Clr or vinegar loosen the lime. Start there.
Thank you.
He seems like he would be a great dad
Thanks thisnwas exactly what I was looking for
I am happy it helped you.
Using the rubber oven mitt was an awesome trick!
Glad you liked it!
I did without CLR and I ripped the end right out of the faucet. It needed upgraded anyhow. Still have 2 other stuck that I need balloon for now.
Help, what do i d if the plastic i broken
I have a quick question for ya.. I just sub'd :) I have a commercial wide spaced sink the has 2 handles that are chrome wing type with a allen key screw directly on top.... I took out the screw but cant seem to pull the handle up and off...?? is there a lock ring below or something... ?? what a pain this is being :)
Did you try putting a screwdriver underneath the handle and gently pry it up
@@DIYHGP Thanks for getting back :) Yeah I tried that but it really felt like something was still holding it on the shaft.. maybe it's tamper / vandle proof ?? Im going back to mess with it today... appreciate you trying to help me sir :)
I have a stuck recessed bathroom faucet aerator. I have tried soaking the tip of the faucet in vinegar for 24 hours and it didn't work. Do you know of any thing else I could try to get my recessed aerator out of my faucet? Thanks
I recommend the CLR cleaner over the vinegar
I now gotta go buy this took
Note many bathroom faucets aren't solid. Even Moen genta is a two-piece. Many faucets will put a plastic piece on the underside to save money. So when you try to strap or rubber band a balloon or a bag you might find that you'll have dripping out the bottom under the sink because the liquid is also running there. So do not try this if you have two piece and it's not fully sealed.
I accidentally stuck the new Delta Everly aerator in upside down after I purged the line installing the new faucet. It seems stuck, I think I saw a small rubber o-ring on the side I pushed up into the faucet. Tried to pull it out, pry it out, trying not to bust it. Any ideas, thanks!
Sorry I got no help for you
I see the clr didn’t work since you had to use big pliers.
is it clockwise to remove?
Righty tighty, lefty, Loosey
Got a Ruger LCR and gonna shoot my airy-yator per your instructions.
White vinegar would work better or as good.
How about waterfall faucet???
The key is remove the head of the faucet you should be able to get a balloon over the top of that one it’ll work just the same
Try using a Knipex smooth jaw pliers-wrench. It won’t mar the finish, and you will also realize you will almost never want to use a crescent wrench again!
Thanks that’s a good tip
Well I tried 24 hours of a balloon full of NickleSafe which is phosphoric acid. No effect. Maybe I’ll try again at a higher concentration.
You can do this on a shower head .Fill a sandwich bag with white vinegar around your shower head overnight.A twisty or rubber band will hold it in place. Good luck
No balloons, would a condom work?
