Honestly I want a crazy character selection. I love how super Mario wonder felt like a spin off game with its roster. I want THAT back since we all know we won’t be getting mystery mushrooms again.
I haven't watched the video yet but had few ideas for Mario Maker 3 that could help both creators and players. - Secret passages behind walls. When you walk into them it shows you "behind" the wall. - Enemies can have items to drop when killed instead of just keys. - The ability to lock an enemy to specific tiles, such as locking a Bowser Jr. on a platform raised above the player's head. - The ability for players to disable or reduce visual/sound effects - Having clear distinctions between certain enemies, like key-holding enemies, parachute thwomps, etc. - Tutorial blocks such as in Super Mario World, which can relay level-specific information to the player - Checkpoints even with a clear condition - Allow permanent power ups for levels that rely on things like Link or SMB2 I have more but this is all I can think of while writing.
i would honestly prefer something like triggers. Imagine, creators would be able to create cutscenees and do a lot of things, people will be excited@@PeachyFanboy
We should also have message blocks if you didn't mention it. If you hit the block via shell, ground pound or head hit, the text you written for the block will show up. You can also set which buttons to use for skipping the text blocks (optional). You can also add NPCs with dialogs like in Mario Multiverse and that too with a skip-the-text ability. When the NPC is done talking, the NPC can either give out an item, explode, shrink, yeet to the sky or stay there. For the NPCs, you can set if they'll talk when you're near them or when you press up near them. If they talk only when you're near them, they won't do a special action.
Maybe make “lamps” that cast down also a thing, and the light cast can be changed between a perfect 90 degree spread, 45 degrees, or 22.5 degrees. (in pixels that is 1:1 change, 1:2 change, and 1:4 change respectively) Maybe the lamps can be dynamic objects: if on the ground, point up; if falling, winged, clawed, or some suspension, then point down; if held by Mario or enemy stacked, point face forward. These lamps can help in nighttime biomes with darkness, or defeat boos, but also act as a hazard for Boo Mushroom power-up where they revert to Super Mushroom, just like Bee Mario and water. Maybe make waterfalls a thing too, including the rain clouds of Wonder. And one more thing, maybe 2-3 versions of “lamp blocks”, one that flashes a brighter light in an AOE when hit (instant KO’s Boos due to its short burst), and one that stays on in that AOE (acting as safety circles), or cross rays that can be blocked by solid platforms (semi-solids only block from above, or one-way gates only block from exit), the last way allows single rays to be made if 3 blocks obscure the other ends. Disclaimer: Typing as Boo Mushroom was brought up, unknown if lamps are brought up, nor the briefly mentioned waterfalls and rainclouds (from Wonder) are brought up as well. My neurodivergency wants me to break the rule “comment after video ends”, and it's not like it is the kind opinion piece that needs to be heard holistically before responding anything.

Im going to be honest. Some of the things i want most for SMM3 is to set paths for Blocks to appear, Moving pipes and mushrooms, swinging platforms and Water, poison and lava as Tiles.
What I want to see in SMM3 (if it ever happens) New game ascetics: •Super Mario Galaxy •Giving us the options to switch SMB and SMB3 to their 16 bit remake from Super Mario All Stars •Super Mario Wonder •I would say Odyssey but I guess it would be too complicated and hard considering that game was open world New level themes : •Volcano •Beach •Mountain New items/enemies/hazards •The Bowser Clown Car (Bowser will throw Mecha Koopas if he’s in the clown car while Jr throws spike balls if he’s in the clown car similarly in NSMBW) •The Boomerang Bros •Fuzzies •The flame chomp •Blarrgh (in the 2D courses so you could recreate Iggy’s boss fight from NSMBU) •Kamek (basically Magikoopa but as a boss instead of an enemy) •Clear pipe cannons •some electric hazards (mainly for more interesting boss fights) •Ice Flower and Penguin suit for NSMBU (those should of been in the game) •Dry Bowser (basically Bowser but faster and jumps higher + immune to fire attacks. In addition, his blue fire ball also homes in on the player like how it was in NSMBDS) •Giant Mushroom (would also let us use it on Bowser to where he would grow just as big as he was in the final fight of NSMBU. In addition, he would be immune to lava, but if you press the switch the end of the caste lvl, the lava would be drained, causing Bowser to fall). •Bowser statues that shoot lasers when Mario is near New mechanics •Letting bosses use new mechanics (for example, letting Bowser throw hammers instead of breathing fire like how he did in SMB and NSMB2) •Letting use edit more on level design (like changing the background of letting us remove water/lava or adding water/lava in a level. •Special scenarios (for example: you defeat Bowser in a level, but then Kamek or the koopaling shows up and revives him. You can ether make them make Bowser bigger, immune to a certain power up, or a new ability) (Yea ik these definitely won’t be added but let me cope and dream man 😭)
if they dont add a wonder theme then id actually cry, it would be so awesome (also side note, i hope they turn mario maker into a spinoff that becomes its own sort of series like mario kart)

You forgot to mention different colored pipes. Sure we have Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow already. But what about Orange, Purple, White, Black, Brown, Pink and whatever other colors were featured throughout the Mario Games.
Id love some of the pipe colors that appear in wonder along with dark or lime green pipes, aquamarine, gold, etc we should have at least 10 pipe colors or more

not gonna lie, watching this video has got me in the thought of going back to mario maker 2 now to work on levels n maybe even a world too! loved this vid :)
The things I would want most in a MM3: Remove SMB2 mushroom and add SMB2 as a full game style. Firechomps and firesnakes. Boomerang bros and firebros in all game styles. Arrow lifts. Frozen munchers. P-switches turn munchers to coins like they do in Mario 3 and like the silver P-switch of Mario World. Clocks to extend level timer. The ability to set the level timer higher than 500, or remove it. The ability to set custom scroll to go backwards. Screen wrapping for vertical levels. Water tiles! While we're at it, waterfalls as well. More than one checkpoint per sub-area. More than one sub-area per level. More than a single screen for world maps. More than 4 levels + castle per world. Ability to name superworlds instead of defaulting to profile name. Special "room" object, to set a scroll stop in all directions while in the room. Ability to set vertical scroll stop without a line of blocks across the ceiling. Remove the dotted outline of P-doors while the switch isn't active. One-way pipes and doors. Progressive stars. Rectangle and fill tools for ground tiles. The ability to set an exit pipe to have a different destination instead of returning to the previous pipe (similar to the pipe stack trick from MM1).
I think Nintendo should take some inspiration from various Kaizo Mario games. They have so much untapped potential in terms of custom items and blocks.
1. All the Missing 2d mario Power-Ups, im talking the mini mushroom, ice flower, hammer suit, and the tanooki suit(which i'm kinda surprised wasn't in the 3d world style tbh). 2. Some sort of ability to lock Power-Ups, for example starting the level with a fire flower(and etc) and taking damage doesn't "remove" it but you still shrink or have some other notable difference. 3. Grates & actual Swinging Vines. None of the Swinging Claws and Regular Vines nonsense. Thats it. Grates & Swinging Vines.
I want a Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins theme with the bunny ears and the hat feather signifying fire power. A switch that could rise and lower water would be cool, too.
While I'm 99.9% positive that we won't see ALL of what's listed in this video, having more variety in Super Mario Maker 3 would be absolutely "WONDERFUL"! 😄 I think placing keys, or other items inside rabbits, and then having to catch them in order to get said like in Super Mario 64 DS would be another fun addition to the second sequel! 😊 I really do hope that Nintendo brings back the amiibo costumes from the first game as that really spiced that game even more! 😃
If I could choose two things for MM3, first would be the Wonder Flower, changing it to any choice of night theme, not just one per level type. This would be in all game styles The other is SMB2

I imagine that's what everyone thinks: not only do we need more Mario games to take mechanics from in order to create brand new level design possibilities for players, but one of the most curious things to pay attention to is whether these mechanics can also be used from one game to another, such as wall jumping in Mario pixel games etc..
This is perfect! The only things I think are missing are more Koopa Troopas. The most underrated ones are the Blue Koopa Troopas from Super Mario World that kick their shells back at the player. I think that would make for some great troll levels. Plus the new RollaKoopa have become iconic for the Mario Wonder style. And while we’re at it, we should add a new Black Koopa Troopa with exploding shells like the ones from Mario Kart Arcade GP. And with all the new hammer bros, we would be remiss not to include Bubble Bros or Superball Bros.
Anybody else notice how many things are in SMM1-2 that are also in Wonder? The respawn sound and effect in multiplayer, the airship theme, the Ninjis and Skipsqueaks are exactly the same, the music levels are usually autoscrolled, etc (just play the game, you’ll see what I mean)
This doesn't make any sense. Those things SHOULD be in both games, because they are a Super Mario game. It's like saying "Anyone else noticed that how many things are in Sonic Colors that also are in Sonic Unleashed"?
I can see the pully mechanic being used for amazing troll levels. You pull it out and get trapped behind a one way gate with a locked door, but you get a single coin from the pully instead of a key. That’s some absolute devious trolling…
I have more ideas 1-more time and do better puzzles although there would be many levels of just running for a long time but we could report them so as not to make the game boring 2-There are conditions in the story mode that we cannot use such as carrying the cobblestone, carrying toads or not leaving the water so they should be added 3-Speaking of conditions, it could be that at the end of a condition the level ends without reaching the goal. 4-water currents like in Mario World and along with the dolphins that serve as platforms 5- a third area and being able to have 3 environments in one level 6-cannons in the superworlds that you can reach with alternative paths and these cannons will take you to other worlds If the comment is strange it must be because I use a translator since I speak Spanish

New idea: instead of being limited to having only 4 levels per world, you can now have up to 30. Plus, you can add some short break time levels as seen in Mario wonder, badge challenges, secret levels, boss levels and more! Edit: you can also have more than 8 worlds. Probably up to 10 or 12.

If they ever make a MM3, then i think they would genuinely just add a super mario land style or something because Nintendo is too lazy adn adding a mario wonder dtyle would hurt its sales by a lot
I would love to have the multiplayer mode from Mario Wonder implemented in SMM3, so that when you play whatever level you find, and others are playing that level at the same time, you can place standees and help each other out, without really playing together. I loved playing like that in the final level in SMWond, getting help, and helping other people out.

•Giving us the options to switch SMB and SMB3 to their 16 bit remake from Super Mario All Stars

•I would say Odyssey but I guess it would be too complicated and hard considering that game was open world

•The Bowser Clown Car (Bowser will throw Mecha Koopas if he’s in the clown car while Jr throws spike balls if he’s in the clown car similarly in NSMBW)

•Blarrgh (in the 2D courses so you could recreate Iggy’s boss fight from NSMBU)

•Letting bosses use new mechanics (for example, letting Bowser throw hammers instead of breathing fire like how he did in SMB and NSMB2)
•Letting use edit more on level design (like changing the background of letting us remove water/lava or adding water/lava in a level.
•Special scenarios (for example: you defeat Bowser in a level, but then Kamek or the koopaling shows up and revives him. You can ether make them make Bowser bigger, immune to a certain power up, or a new ability)

Some of these are really cool! Most mechanics that are added are parts that interact with the other parts very well.
You forgot to mention different colored pipes.
Sure we have Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow already.
But what about Orange, Purple, White, Black, Brown, Pink and whatever other colors were featured throughout the Mario Games.
Id love some of the pipe colors that appear in wonder along with dark or lime green pipes, aquamarine, gold, etc we should have at least 10 pipe colors or more

same! I have a few dozen levels out there, wondering how many have played in the past few months I've not been on.
The things I would want most in a MM3:
Remove SMB2 mushroom and add SMB2 as a full game style.
Firechomps and firesnakes.
Boomerang bros and firebros in all game styles.
Arrow lifts.
Frozen munchers.
P-switches turn munchers to coins like they do in Mario 3 and like the silver P-switch of Mario World.
Clocks to extend level timer.
The ability to set the level timer higher than 500, or remove it.
The ability to set custom scroll to go backwards.
Screen wrapping for vertical levels.
Water tiles! While we're at it, waterfalls as well.
More than one checkpoint per sub-area. More than one sub-area per level.
More than a single screen for world maps. More than 4 levels + castle per world.
Ability to name superworlds instead of defaulting to profile name.
Special "room" object, to set a scroll stop in all directions while in the room.
Ability to set vertical scroll stop without a line of blocks across the ceiling.
Remove the dotted outline of P-doors while the switch isn't active.
One-way pipes and doors.
Progressive stars.
Rectangle and fill tools for ground tiles.
The ability to set an exit pipe to have a different destination instead of returning to the previous pipe (similar to the pipe stack trick from MM1).
I think Nintendo should take some inspiration from various Kaizo Mario games. They have so much untapped potential in terms of custom items and blocks.
At this point let's just add all of Super Mario Wonder and BOOM, here's Mario Maker 3 x)

1. All the Missing 2d mario Power-Ups, im talking the mini mushroom, ice flower, hammer suit, and the tanooki suit(which i'm kinda surprised wasn't in the 3d world style tbh).
2. Some sort of ability to lock Power-Ups, for example starting the level with a fire flower(and etc) and taking damage doesn't "remove" it but you still shrink or have some other notable difference.
3. Grates & actual Swinging Vines. None of the Swinging Claws and Regular Vines nonsense. Thats it. Grates & Swinging Vines.
I want a Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins theme with the bunny ears and the hat feather signifying fire power. A switch that could rise and lower water would be cool, too.
Tbh I want Water, Lava, Poison in every theme most of all
While I'm 99.9% positive that we won't see ALL of what's listed in this video, having more variety in Super Mario Maker 3 would be absolutely "WONDERFUL"! 😄 I think placing keys, or other items inside rabbits, and then having to catch them in order to get said like in Super Mario 64 DS would be another fun addition to the second sequel! 😊 I really do hope that Nintendo brings back the amiibo costumes from the first game as that really spiced that game even more! 😃
We just need everything from wonder in mm3. A simple yet great addition I think is the flowers you touch that then move like in wonder
If I could choose two things for MM3, first would be the Wonder Flower, changing it to any choice of night theme, not just one per level type. This would be in all game styles

thanks for mentioning the BETTER blue shell from new super mario bros, funnily enough this is the first blue shell i think of, as it is my favourite power-up of all time in mario games.
Things I want (some are in the video):
More powerups (drill mushroom, bubble flower, elephant fruit, ice flower, mini mushroom)
More enemies (taily, snail, blargg, shy guy, ninji, urchin, ice bro, bramball)
Longer levels
A revamp in the world maker (secret exits, special world entrances, etc)
SMB wonder game style
SMB 2 style
The #1 thing we need is a Mario 2 style with Mario 2 enemies and stuff

I imagine that's what everyone thinks: not only do we need more Mario games to take mechanics from in order to create brand new level design possibilities for players, but one of the most curious things to pay attention to is whether these mechanics can also be used from one game to another, such as wall jumping in Mario pixel games etc..
This is perfect! The only things I think are missing are more Koopa Troopas. The most underrated ones are the Blue Koopa Troopas from Super Mario World that kick their shells back at the player. I think that would make for some great troll levels. Plus the new RollaKoopa have become iconic for the Mario Wonder style.
And while we’re at it, we should add a new Black Koopa Troopa with exploding shells like the ones from Mario Kart Arcade GP.
And with all the new hammer bros, we would be remiss not to include Bubble Bros or Superball Bros.

Anybody else notice how many things are in SMM1-2 that are also in Wonder? The respawn sound and effect in multiplayer, the airship theme, the Ninjis and Skipsqueaks are exactly the same, the music levels are usually autoscrolled, etc (just play the game, you’ll see what I mean)
This doesn't make any sense. Those things SHOULD be in both games, because they are a Super Mario game. It's like saying "Anyone else noticed that how many things are in Sonic Colors that also are in Sonic Unleashed"?

1-more time and do better puzzles although there would be many levels of just running for a long time but we could report them so as not to make the game boring
2-There are conditions in the story mode that we cannot use such as carrying the cobblestone, carrying toads or not leaving the water so they should be added
3-Speaking of conditions, it could be that at the end of a condition the level ends without reaching the goal.
4-water currents like in Mario World and along with the dolphins that serve as platforms
5- a third area and being able to have 3 environments in one level

New idea: instead of being limited to having only 4 levels per world, you can now have up to 30. Plus, you can add some short break time levels as seen in Mario wonder, badge challenges, secret levels, boss levels and more!
Edit: you can also have more than 8 worlds. Probably up to 10 or 12.

If they ever make a MM3, then i think they would genuinely just add a super mario land style or something because Nintendo is too lazy adn adding a mario wonder dtyle would hurt its sales by a lot

I would love to have the multiplayer mode from Mario Wonder implemented in SMM3, so that when you play whatever level you find, and others are playing that level at the same time, you can place standees and help each other out, without really playing together. I loved playing like that in the final level in SMWond, getting help, and helping other people out.
Electric Blocks, Goo Course, Wonder Power Ups, and New Themes are my favorites.
