I have to admit, having the restraint to NOT plant anything new right now is my biggest challenge! I have so many perennials in my backyard containers that i want to put in the front yard, but it’s just not the right time. Glad to see that you still have many, many pretties in your garden, even in the dead of summer!❤
As usual Dawn, everything is absolutely beautiful and inspiring! Thanks to your Clematis pruning video, my Sapphire Indigo Clematis is reblooming right now too!! I have Heliotrope on my list to try next year, yours is beautiful. ❤️
Hey there Shannon! Thank you so much...you are very kind! Yes, the heliotrope is a must have. I think it is supposed to reseed, so my fingers are crossed! I had a hard time finding it this year, so when I did, I bought them all up...lol!
your garden is so gorgeous even after leaving it for 3 weeks. I always enjoy your tours. Texas is tough on gardens, but this year has been wild to me as we haven't had drought due to good rains and almost 2 weeks of temperatures under 100!
You're the sweetest Wendi ~ Thank you so much! I know, it's unreal! Our gardens are loving every minute of this! It's almost like living up north..lol!
So glad I found your channel! I just started documenting my gardening journey in coastal North Carolina. I can’t wait to dive into your videos! Let’s be flower friends!
I’ve been waiting for a video of your garden and I’m so glad you were able to share a July tour! Your garden is beautiful! I love seeing all of your plants and how they are progressing! I applaud your landscape decorating talent! ❤
@@shadedfromreality I am blessed! I try working in my yard every morning and quit when the humidity becomes too much! Love my garden! My Midnight Masquerade is doing great! 😊
Hello Tracy, I start seeds indoors in the late winter/early spring and usually plant them outside around mid April. I also start sowing direct when it warms up even more, so usually May/Early June. Hope that helps!
I forgot about this Dawn; I want you to talk about that tree-form oakleaf hydrangea sometime if you don’t mind, like if you’re happy with it, how long it will take for it to bloom, if you had any moment of panic when you began to prune, etc. Thanks!!😊
Hey Stacey, No panic at all! I’m happy with it, but I’m going to have to do a better job of staking it. When it blooms, it is super heavy and is still leaning! It’s not requiring as much trimming as I thought it would. I grew it from a cutting and have been training it since then. I think that made it easier😆
@@shadedfromreality ohhhhh yes that would make it easier. I’m going to try to root a cutting…you don’t think the propagation police will come for me? 😆
Gorgeous garden. Very well laid out. I was wondering about the dicondra. Does it die back and come back over winter into spring or do you have to replant it. Thanks
Hi There ~ Thank you so much! It depends on the location. Throughout my yard, most of it dies back, but it comes back in spring. The area featured in the video is protected from the north, so some of it stayed evergreen through the season. Hope that helps!
@@shadedfromreality yes. I actually have some planted in a couple of pots. I live near Destin FL on the water zone 8b/9a so I’ll just bring it into the garage for the couple of night ls we get below 32. Again enjoyed the less formal more natural planting of your garden.
@@wesleyhackney Oh, ok! We get below 32 pretty often as well. The ones in the pots are a different story! I would say about 50% survive our freezes, but they are slow to come back, so I usually do wind up replacing them.
What a beautiful backyard! I really enjoyed the tour. I am in 9b zone and we really struggle with the heat. I put in 2 dry creek beds and I am thinking about installing some pebble walk ways with step stones. I have trouble keeping the tree and plant leaves out of the rocks. The leaves fall in between the rocks (I have larger rocks) and I am afraid they will decompose and create weed problems. I keep up the blowing every week during the fall. I thought of putting smaller rocks in to fill in the open spaces but thought I would be blowing the small rock around. I love the look of the plants hanging over onto my paths but I cut them back to keep the leaves and flowers out. How do you keep the leaves off your rock walk way? Your garden look well-kept and clan.
Hi Diana, Thank you so much! That sounds like it will be so nice! When the leaves start falling, I use the blower pretty regularly as well, but I don't have that many trees that drop leaves in the back yard, don't seem to have the same problem! You might have more trees than i do!
Hi Lynn, Thank you so much! It's called an Eclipse and it's amazing! It's been an amazing performer so far. Here is a video about it: ruclips.net/video/lkZNVNJZzKE/видео.html
Hi there WynterGirl ~ We actually just mulch very heavily and try to hand pull them when we see them. I know that's not what you wanted to hear...lol! It seems there is nothing that will keep them away!
Thank you all for watching and joining me today! Happy Gardening! -----> tinyurl.com/ywuuacnc

Thank you so much!!😀
Dawn…It all looks amazing! I love that your yard feels like little rooms. I’m envious of how much space you have. Happy to see a video!
Hey Robin, Thank you so much!😊 Definitely feeling better now! You and I need to enjoy our last 2 weeks of free time paradise!😂😂

Beautiful garden, especially in July in Texas.
Thank you Diane! This weather has been so unusual for this time of year. We have been lucky with the rain and mild temperatures so far!

Hi there Sammy T~ Thank you so much!
Wow! So many blooms in july .
I think July in Texas was milder than normal this year...it definitely helped with the blooms!

Thanks a beautiful July Garden Tour. Your garden is stunning
So nice of you! Thank you :)
Everything is gorgeous. Im wondering gow you keep gravel and dirt/mulch from getting in your pool?
Hi LIsa, Thank you so much! We only have 2 areas that border the pool and the dirt is well below the rock, so thankfully, it is not a problem!
First of all, so happy you got to go on an amazing trip!!!! ❤ Secondly, I also LOVE Oleander, and your variegated kind is awesome!!
Thank you so much Nicole! ❤.I am excited to see how this is going to do!
Thanks for sharing! Everything looks great.
