That's great! The belt usually fails from the oil filter housing leak then can get into the front main seal. And even into the engine oil pick up if it's really bad. Great Job bringing it back! Did you drop the oil pan as well in your repairs?
@@AskTheCarExperts yeah, I had to drop the subframe to get to the oil pan, definitely had belt in the pickup tube so fingers crossed he shut the car down quick enough and it didn't encounter oil starvation. Strange enough, I also had to reset timing, thinking enough shredded belt made it around crank sprocket and it slipped a few teeth.
Following you from helping me with my X5 coolant tank change from your video. Can’t wait to watch this series! I’m going to have a project like this someday!
That's great Nick! TY! This is going to be an interesting project. I did a video on compression and leak down and it wasn't pretty. This Friday coming up is going to be on 7 Steps to stop rodents damaging your wiring harness. I tried to add a lot more humor with all the steps to stop the critters. I hope you enjoy that one this Friday.
Thanks Barry! Awesome to have you join me in the process. Very excited. Going to do some engine diag coming up with compression and leak down tests to identify what cylinders are effected.
Very “cool”, Roger! Super clean, Z3 eh? What a blow to the original owner. Your gain. Excited for you and the family. Piece a cake for a Master like you 👍🏼
Great to hear from you and I hope you are doing well up in Alaska! That's funny that you call it the same as we do "mechanic special". For anyone reading this comment this is due to the fact that for the average person to pay someone to repair a car would exceed the car value but a mechanic using their personal time can revive a car at the cost of personal labor. This would be my first real mechanic special and I am very excited to get into fixing her up. Lots of side projects holding me back but hopefully soon. I just installed a catless down pipe and charge air pipe on a friends car and his father wants a Dinan system :) That will be coming up as well!
Thanks Scott, Too many projects and not enough time :) Hopefully getting to the Z3 this weekend. If you ever need any specific info feel free to reach out to me.
Hi Barry, sounds like quite a bit since it needs and engine if you have the bottom end knock. A quick search of the N55 used shows around 5000 plus another 600 shipping. If the body and interior and suspension was perfect with low miles then maybe. Otherwise I don't think it would be worth it.
Hi John, There will be a lot of things to replace. The overheat can cause all the plastic components to fail and I should do all the cooling system components including the plastic coolant pipe under the intake. Expansion tank, radiator, hoses etc. Hopefully I will be on this soon. I have a few other repairs on some friends cars I am working through.
I just did my nephew's e90 N52 engine that sucked up a serpentine belt, labor of love bringing that back to life, it was fun...others may not think so

Z3 is a beauty!
Thanks Scott! Very excited to get her fixed up!
Overheating is the #1 killer of BMW's. Soo many have ended from it.
@@thulsa5218 Very true 👍
Thanks!

what's your opinion on a 2011 335i 3.0 turbo with an engine knock with 163k miles selling price of $2,000.00...its it work the investment?

Sweet!
The car is beautiful! The previous owner was happy I would be getting her back on the road. Great to hear from you Alden! Hope your doing well!
You might as well replace everything under that hood especially if it’s plastic. Had one biggest poc ever
