  • There are lots of words that the French use in everyday life that are not necessarily taught in school. Here are 10 French words that I learned after moving to France. Enjoy and please subscribe if you haven't already!
    1. Bosser = travailler ; to work - Je ne peux pas, je dois bosser ce soir
    le boulot = le travail ; work (noun) - j'ai du boulot
    2. Dégueulasse = disgusting/nasty (in the revolting, "dirty" sense of the word) c'est dégueulasse !
    3. La clope = la cigarette ; a cigarette - Excusez-moi, je peux vous piquer une clope ?
    4. Le coup de barre = a sudden feeling of fatigue
    5. ça craint = that sucks!
    6. ça caille ! = it's chilly out, it's freezy out etc.
    7. papoter = bavarder ; to chit chat, make small talk - j'ai papoté avec un ami que j'ai croisé dans la rue
    8. Déconner = plaisanter, blaguer ; to play around, joking around, joking / messing around
    T'en fais pas, je déconne ! Don't worry, I am just joking around!
    9. Machin = un truc ; a thing / a whatchamacallit / whatshisname
    10. Genre = a filler word equivalent meaning like - j'étais genre "attention à ce que tu me racontes mec" ! I was like "be careful what you say to me man"!

    Just a tip: may be you can add some text down below so people can read what you’re talking about because written words and pronunciation differ...Amazing list of very colloquial French words !👏👏👏
