World leaders do not threaten nuclear annihilation every time they don’t get their way. Walt was willing to get existential with anyone and everyone that might inconvenience him or otherwise not place him at a level of importance he thought he deserved. His whole thing was - while always being involved and able to benefit from something - he was just as willing to pick up his ball and go home regardless of whether it made sense for him and everyone else long term. its not good strategy that you destroy yourself and everyone around you if you’re not actually up against those kinds of odds. all it does is shorten the lifespan of whatever collective endeavor you are attempting. In the moment, sure you can force it. but there’s a reason Tuco Salamanca wasn’t anything more than the position he occupied and even that was precarious. he was reckless and messy simply to make more room for himself and his interests. It was his way or the highway which actually isn’t how criminal organizations succeed or operate day to day. All criminal enterprise has an expiration date but he ensured that date was wayyyyy sooner than other characters on his level in the show. The man commanded the importance of Gus because of his willingness to be as stupid as badger.
