I have a 2013 Subaru WRX STI and have found only one scanner truly compatible with my car. I have had to return several. My Cobb tuner always works and connects to my laptop, increasing its functions. I have an Xtool brick sitting next to my desk; their customer support is rude and worthless. I want devices that work with my Subaru, particularly those that allow ECM coding and cloning! I was able to trick it into activating a key but couldn't use the listed app. I had to program the key by claiming it was a different model and now have a constantly blinking security warning even though the keys start the vehicle. If I tried to program the keys with my correct model only error codes!

Based on your experience, it's clear that finding a compatible diagnostic tool for your 2013 Subaru WRX STI can be challenging. You're specifically looking for a device that can:
Connect reliably: Ensure a stable connection to your vehicle's ECU.
Perform ECM coding: Allow you to modify specific parameters in your engine control module.
Clone keys: Replicate existing keys for your vehicle.
      Recommended Options:
Given your experience with the Xtool brick and the success you've had with your Cobb tuner, it might be beneficial to explore other options within the Subaru community or consult with professional tuners. Here are some potential avenues:
Subaru-Specific Tools: Look for diagnostic tools specifically designed for Subaru vehicles. These tools often have pre-loaded data and programming routines tailored to Subaru models.
Professional Tuners: Consult with professional tuners who specialize in Subaru vehicles. They may have access to specialized diagnostic tools and can provide expert advice on your specific needs.
Online Forums and Communities: Join Subaru forums or online communities where owners discuss diagnostic tools and share experiences. This can be a great resource for finding recommendations and troubleshooting issues.
      Additional Considerations:
Software Updates: Ensure that any diagnostic tool you choose has regular software updates to support the latest Subaru models and features.
Compatibility: Verify that the tool is compatible with your specific 2013 Subaru WRX STI model and year.
Customer Support: Look for a tool with reliable customer support in case you encounter any issues.
Finding the right diagnostic tool for your Subaru can be a process of trial and error. Consider the recommendations above and leverage the knowledge and experience of the Subaru community to find a device that meets your specific needs and provides reliable performance.

@@weeklytools The only real fix I have found for my troublesome Subaru requires pulling out my old control module and sending it to a company that clones control modules but the car will be unusable for 2-3 weeks. My Xtool device I was hoping would let me do it myself but if not cloned correctly both control modules will be turned to bricks. I was able to clone the keys and there are supposedly tricks to turn the blinking security light off but both are working. A jerk dealer disabled my spare key when at 16k miles the motor threw its cam belt. During COVID, the car sat 2 weeks with a dead battery. Ever since then, it hasn't run right. It throws random error codes and has an intermittent stumble misfire. I suspect the ECM was somehow damaged from the prolonged dead battery or in trying to recharge the Optima battery. I keep retuning it and just replaced a broken Pressure control valve with a much better 3 bar one. I also changed the MAF sensor. These things seem to help for a few days, but it starts acting up again invariably.

Foxwell NT809 vs NT909 for Isuzu 24V Trucks: A Comparative Analysis
Disclaimer: While I can provide general information and potential comparisons based on available data, it's crucial to rely on specific product details, user reviews, and compatibility charts from Foxwell or authorized dealers for accurate and up-to-date information.
      Understanding Your Claim
Based on your statement, you believe:
Foxwell NT809: Works better on older and newer models of 24V Isuzu mini trucks, including Japanese and Euro 4 4HL1 engines.
Foxwell NT909: Primarily functions with newer models of 24V Isuzu trucks.
      Potential Reasons for the Difference
Several factors could contribute to these perceived differences in compatibility:
Software Updates: The NT909 might require more frequent software updates to support older or specific engine models.
Hardware Limitations: The NT809 could have more robust hardware capable of handling a wider range of vehicle protocols.
Vehicle Protocol Coverage: The NT809 might support a broader spectrum of vehicle communication protocols, making it more versatile.
Engine ECU Compatibility: Differences in engine control unit (ECU) communication protocols between older and newer models could affect scanner compatibility.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Scanner
When selecting a scanner for your Isuzu 24V truck, consider these factors:
Vehicle Year and Model: The specific year, model, and engine type of your truck.
Required Features: The diagnostic functions you need (e.g., code reading, live data, ECU programming).
Budget: The cost of the scanner and any additional software or accessories.
User Reviews and Recommendations: Feedback from other Isuzu owners can be valuable.
      Further Investigation
To make a more informed decision, I recommend:
Check Foxwell's Official Website: Look for compatibility charts, product specifications, and software update information.
Consult with Foxwell Support: Contact their customer support for specific guidance on your truck model.
Read User Reviews: Search online forums and review platforms for user experiences with both scanners.
By carefully considering these factors and conducting thorough research, you can select the most suitable Foxwell scanner for your Isuzu 24V truck.
Would you like to provide more specific details about your Isuzu truck, such as the year, model, and engine type? This information could help narrow down the scanner options.
I'm ready to assist you further with your research.
