    You're smart but your electrical skills need work. Some of those wire connections made me cringe. Do not ever wrap soldered connections with tape, your project will burn eventually. There is heat shrink tubing that excretes glue or sealant when heated and shrunk, this is a better more permanent protection and it will 100% keep water out. I love the build though I just hope you get all of that wiring fixed up corrwcrly

    What I wanna know is why? The Mazda duratec 2.3, and especially the 2.5 are great engines with solid potential and are basically a Mazda K series only without vtec. One version of the 2.3 comes from the mazdaspeed 3, which has been built out to as high as 800hp and even has direct injection. If you're going to swap, why not swap something in that'll work with the factory ECU and retain all accessories, gauge functionality, and creature comforts? Still appreciate the vid as a K24 is on my list of potential swaps.

    • @Drunken_Hamster
      @Drunken_Hamster 2 года назад

      @@dosstheboss100 Yeah, but... Like I said, the Mazda Duratec (found in 03+ 4-cyl rangers) is basically Mazda's K-series but with no VVT or Vtech. If you keep that engine you keep the factory everything else, including ECU, Power steering, and A/C. All you gotta do is either remote mount or semi-remote mount the turbo so it doesn't interfere with the A/C location, or relocate the A/C stuff.
      The bone stock Ranger Duratec is good for like 350 wheel, as is everything else on the truck except the fuel pump (good for 240-ish wheel) and the rear axle (does better when it's welded like the OP, but still weak and no aftermarket). Which, c'mon, fuel pumps aren't that bad, and you can easily swap in a Ford Explorer (95-01) axle that's stronger and can also possibly come with shorter gears and a limited slip.
      Hell, the springs are even mounted under the axle compared to the Ranger's over, giving you 3" of lowering right off the bat (assuming you use the Explorer leaf springs, which are more arched than the ranger ones). Couple that with flipping your shackles and you're on your way to a 4/5 drop and all you gotta do is order arms and springs for the front. Slammed, fast, durable, SIMPLE mini truck. Because bro, even the factory Mazdaspeed 3 turbo manifold fits on the Ranger engine.

    Hey bro.... I love your channel and all the builds and painting you do!
    I do like how you compiled this video.
    I don't know if this is brought up in the comments but I'll come you didn't just go ahead and take the front bumper AKA clip off? It makes everything so so much easier especially when I have really custom build like this.
    I have an 03 Ranger and honestly that was the first thing I did 😂! I was replacing the original blown 3.0 with a 3.0 out of a Taurus with 7,800 mi. Of course it was a front wheel drive and I did the necessary checklist of items to go to rear wheel drive. You end up with practically a brand new engine especially with miles this low.
    Well the truck now has another decade on it since that swap / replacement and done ready to bring it into the 2020s.
    I have a 2.3 EcoBoost with the 10 speed automatic (I've had five spine surgeries so no manual transmissions for me) and I'm looking to start on it in November as it will be a winter project.
    It's kind of neat because I bought the EcoBoost as a complete unit on a pallet with starter and everything lol just add an aftermarket fuel pump and tank and coolant if you want but it's not going to run that long, and you can started and check everything out before you buy it !
    The K series are cool and it's a neat swap (please don't take that I'm bashing your choice at all that's that's the last thing I'm implying!) but this was $4,500.
    That's turbo and all and will pretty much fall into place except for some work for the transmission tunnel and drive shaft. Especially since the block is the same as the Duratec NA version that are offered in the Rangers.
    In stock form with no tuning they make around 260-70 HP at the wheels. With a couple of clickety clacks with a keyboard, you can easily be putting down in the high 300hp area code.
    It shows you the ignorance of the internet Google degree winners because they'll say that putting a Honda in is blasphemy since it's a Asian swap into a American vehicle but the 2.3 Ford is actually a Mazda engine lol😂.
    Then I'll just keep continuing to pray for their ignorance to be washed away permanently with power steering fluid!
    Thank you for these videos and wonderful attitude for our DIY community!
    God bless you and your channel sir!

    Why did you choose the rx8 transmission out of curiosity? Honda's manual transmissions are fantastic

    You should do a complete coil over suspension and sway bar kit and a lsd diff would put that power to the ground

    You have any idea what rear end gearing you have? Planning on doing the same swap on my ranger and i have a 8.8 lying around with 4.10 gears

    • @TexasHondaChannel
      @TexasHondaChannel  2 года назад +1

      I recommend the 8.8 because I’m running a stock welded diff and I love how it moves but even with welded diff it still don’t wanna hook up especially now that it’s been Dyno tuned.

    I'm going to take EcoBoost 2.3 l and max out the boost with a bigger turbo... Then put all that in my 1985 Ford ranger

      I'm in the process of actually doing a EcoBoost swap out of a 16 Mustang.
      No reason to max out the turbo and put anything else on it lol.
      I have an extended cab two-wheel drive Edge and drove a swap identical to what I'm doing with the 10 speed automatic full interior and everything. With large tires and the rear and added weight in the bed, no traction bars yet though, it was almost impossible to hook up and felt like a freaking base shuttle being launched off the pad! A little bit of tuning on the entire stock system and you can easily 400 wheel horsepower and low 20s miles per gallon.
      And have a fun drivable sports truck that can slay the Dragon (Google The Dragon Tail North Carolina) and then head to the drag strip for some fun!
