Wow, I just found this. What history! I can't believe how much TV I used to watch when I was a kid, how highly I thought of Ch. 4 back then, and how little of it I watch now.
@2:10 - Samuetta Primus! Thanks for the memory!! My grandmother was a huge WSM watcher; I used to watch "The Noon Show" with her. "Scene at 6" was on our TV every night. I remember Teddy Bart, Ralph Emery, Dan Miller, Boyce Hawkins, Paul Eells, Bill Hall, and a LOT of the field reporters. I remember when we had John Tesh and Pat Sajak before they were household names. Met Huell Howser several times, incredibly nice. And who can forget George "By George" Goldtrap?! Great memories - thanks for posting!
Very cool! I used to get up and ready for school with Ralph Emery, Norm, Jerry and the band. They had a lot of singers who went on to great fame and fortune after that show. I remember their long time sponsor, Mid-South Aluminum-"Don't put it off, put it on!". Good to see a clip of Teddy Bart and Elaine Gannick from the old "Noon" show too! Great station, great memories!
This is excellent! Thank you for posting. It sure brings back some good memories. Is there any way you could post the full video and audio for the IDs and program opens?

who remembers Lonnie and Dan doing the news?
Great Vid.
I watched these folks growing up here in Mid Tn.
Thanks for posting this wonderful history of WSM TV - I recognize a good deal of people.
At 1:57, that's my father, George Goldtrap. Some of my families best years were in Nashville in the 70s. WSM was a fun place to work.

Wow what memories this one brings back! Back in the NLT days when WSM was king.
Love the outfits. So much style.
That man flipping the chalk at 1:58 is my father!
He preached a revival for us in McMinnville! I have an autographed piece of chalk he did for me after church, it says, "By George".
Wow, what memories! I forgot what Ralph Emery looked like with a beard!
VERY fun! Thanks.

Channel 4. The station that allowed us in Western Ky to watch NBC's Saturday Night without an hour delay like Channel 6 in Paducah.
who was that at 0:03 ??
Alan Griggs at 2:23. He is now on Tennessee Wild Side on PBS. Really nice guy!
Who are the reporters starting at the 2:00 mark? Jim somebody... Carol somebody? The other guy is a ringer for Arthur Ashe
The theme to Ch. 4 News from the 70s was there version of "We're Part of Your Life"
Who can name everybody in pic at 2:12?
What ever happened to George Goldtrap?
George Goldtrapp!
Unfortunately the world lost George Goldtrap yesterday. I know many grew up watching him toss the chalk and catching it in his pocket like I did.
back when reporters were allowed to have some local flavor in their accents.. Now, they all sound like they are from Ohio !!!!
