This was the first track that I wrote for "The Pursuit" mixtape about 7-8 months ago. It was a time where I was really lost and uncertain about my life due to the fact that I had no real audience and had been losing the closest of friends due to me spending all my time pursuing a dim looking dream. My heart was broken around the same time and had really no one close to talk too which basically resulted to the making of this song. Though I hate listening to this because of the production quality haha, but just know that this is me, an 18 year-old kid with an uncertainty about the future. You'll never hear a club hit, or a radio Disney pop single because that doesn't appeal to me or relates to me in any single way. I might never be played on the radio or sell out arenas or be on MTV, I really don't care. All I want to do is make someones shitty day a little bit better. I could less about the money, the women, the fame, the cars, none of that. I want to connect with the people who don't think anyone understands even if they try to put it into words. Because every party eventually ends, the high eventually fades, and reality will always hit you harder the next morning. The music I make is for me, but also for you. The movement really starts with this next project "Finding Better Places." Thank you so much if you've been a listener since day one or if you just found out about me today. 2 years since I listened to this song. 2 years since my mom passed. Ngl rapping the whole song was a challenge compared to how easy it was back then. The 2nd verse choked me, started thinking of my mom. But I am gonna start listening to my old stuff again.
Before hearing this, I thought rap was this shitty style of music that Kanye sings. After hearing this, it changed my whole perspective on rap. I now realize that the good side of rap is like another way of preaching and expressing yourself. You're expressing your true feelings and preaching them out to the world. Amazing job as always Ivan.

He doesn't even need to try to make people understand about his motivations to creating this song. People feel it and embrace it and realize it without thinking too much because it appeals to people who are going through life's inconveniences and unplanned futures we can't predict. My anticipation anxiety is off the roof and I can only hope to real with it by crying about it until I cant because God doesn't help because I'm not into the Christian life as much as others are. Though for 7 years I've played piano, guitar, drums, piano, bass, and tried to the violin and played for a church, I forget that god isn't the one who makes me happy when I play at the church. It's the passion I have for music.
