What’s the “The Holiday” movie about?
Iris (Kate Winslet from Titanic and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Amanda (Cameron Diaz from Charlie's Angels, The Mask and There’s Something About Mary) realizes that the man she is living with has been unfaithful.
One lives in England, the other in California. The two women, who have never met and live 600 miles from each other, come into contact on a home exchange website. Impulsively, they decide to swap homes for the holidays. Iris moves into Amanda's house in Los Angeles while Amanda stays at Iris, in the snow-covered English countryside.
Shortly after their arrival, the two women meet a man. Amanda falls for Graham (Jude Law from Sherlock Holmes, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Captain Marvel) as Iris meets Miles (Jack Black from School of Rock, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and King Kong).

I think this is my favorite scene. She thinks the worst and she just discovers his vulnerable side, how a devoted father he is.
It’s sad that he lost his wife.
I like how immediately Sophia and Olivia realized that their dad was bombing and rushed in to 'save' him from blowing his chances at happiness.
LOVE THAT love everything about the movie
I love how these two little girls are practically schooling their father 🤣🤣
For all the 'rom-com mushiness' that this scene has, there is a very heartwarming thing about a single father doting upon & raising two beautiful girls (& yet yearning to be a carefree bachelor, once in a while).
A very fine movie. Rom-coms are not always about the lives & events of attractive young people. It's about bonding with children and the elderly.... both of which are depicted very deftly in this movie.
Well said, love the realistic approach this movie has💖
Even in the movie, The Intern, by the same director, we get to see the unfolding of a beautiful 'father-daughter type' bonding between the two main characters.
I agree
Although how doting can he be? The man gets drunk and leaves his 2 girls home alone by themselves?
@@zenogoldsmith8884 interesting point. :)
Hopefully a babysitter was at home? :)
His face when he shuts the door 😭🤣
That might just be my favourite bit!
His facial expression in this scene 😂😂
I love the subversion of expectations of Graham’s character. We’re lead to believe he’s nothing more than a playboy who doesn’t know how to commit to a woman. When in reality, he’s a struggling but loving Dad trying to figure out how to be alone in raising his two girls and to recover from his grief from losing his wife.
My favorite Christmas movie. Great film. The girls that played his daughters were perfect. Just angels. If I ever had kids I would pray they would be just like them.❤️❤️❤️
This was the last movie my mom and I watched with my great grandmother while she was in the hospital. She passed the next day. This movie always makes me incredibly happy and incredibly sad all at once.
This movie is incredibly joyful and brings peace. It's about our next chapter in life and moving on with grace. This is the best movie ever, probably left you two in a good state!
❤
Sorry for your loss, friend. Glad you were able to make a good memory first.
jude law was exquisite here
"You look loik mah bahbay" I loved the girls so adorable
That was such a precious comment ☺️
Would love to see what these girls look like today!! ❤

This movie is so cozy, I love it so much 😍
Me too, it gives the right holiday feels ❤
Kate Winslet is the better actress, but in this movie I really love and prefer Cameron Diaz. I love her awkward relationship with Jude Law. It feels so normal, even if its awkward.
The awkwardness is probably what makes it so “normal”.😌
It's just so powerful how the simple spelling of "W-I-D-O-W-E-R" changes everything
Made me tear up as i lost my wife 6 years ago.

Best part of the movie is with the girls, so adorable
They were!
best reveal ever, honestly. it's so wholesome!
Cameron Diaz at her finest 😍😍
YEAH.
And I am totally into this movie ❤️
Yes good
This movie has some magic
i love that part when the girls line up and stare at her. it is soo funny and so sweet. maybe it gets to me because i my older sister and twin sister used to do that when we were little kids.
They are his best wingman or wing women
One can only imagine how beautiful the love child of Cameron and Jude would be.
Yup! I did my usual yearly re-watch last night… and was smiling and happy all the way to the end! ❤❤❤ Love me some Jude Law!
My wife and daughter does the same thing. It’s a tradition now. Every November 1st, I know exactly what we’re watching that evening (and the rest of the month).
Those girls were too freaking adorable!🥰
I want to know why Jude Law saying "I am Daddy" has not been turned into a meme yet. I'm very disappointed in you, Internet.
He cheated with his kids nanny, so, maybe having that meme around would be kind of ..not so good.
this movie is one of my biggest guilty secrets.............i completely love it and cry like a drain. And I'm 60 y/o "geezer". Jude Law and Cameron Diaz were brilliant together and seem to actually have got on very well.
when he says 'i am daddy' 👀😳
I think That I have seen this movie a hundred times.
Olivia is sooooo precious!!!!!😭
You see many plot twists in films that are shocking but this one was just genuine and very sad.
I LOVE, LOVE this Movie !!!❤❤❤❤
One of my favourite at the time this is mind blowing and still going..
I love this movie I watch it when it's Christmas
Such a lovely movie. These kids are amazing

Gyönyörű, lenyűgöző ez a film.
1:02 oh lord, they’re are 2 of them.😊
I really like this show
Heart warming ❤🎉😊
A charming film.
Nagyon jó volt a film.😊
I like the way Graham gives Amanda a Esca cart in the form of the chocolate question.
I love this movie.❤️💯
Cute movie!
1:50 thinking of her like a potential MOTHER. danger, danger!
You look like my Barbie!!! ❤😂
Oh I love that movie
The Holiday and Love Actually, My long flights and Christmas go to.
I dunno how i feel to be as jude law's daughter. Ur dad is the hottest man alive
You can say what you want about this being a terrible couple (because they haven't had any time to get to know each other and this is basically just a flirt), but it's acted in a very charming manner.
Long Beach Poly! Whoot Whoot!
😢😢😢 I love this movie. I was very sad when I found out that they took down the house after they finished filming. I found this out when I was looking for the GPS address to get there.
I was so sad too!! I still like to pretend it's there lol
Brought wine for a date. Ended up having hot chocolate with the girls. 😂❤😅
This part of the movie (through the end in the tent) was by far the strongest part of this movie. The kids were brilliant, as was Jude. This movie pushed the limits of Cameron Diaz's range - she is good (and pretty great in this part as well), but prettier than she is talented. The ending fails the rest of the really good work in this movie, but I like it as a while anyway.
0:40 to a lot of female fans from what I've heard. Especially in his Dumbledore role 🤷🏾♂️
Naturally Al Green would be playing.
💗💫
I watched this recently
good film
My god, he is so fine
🙂🙃💖
Hey, does anybody want to feel old?
The actress playing Sophie is already a mother.
The most unbelievable thing about this movie is that we are still supposed to believe the inside of THAT house is in England. Let me tell you. There isn’t a SINGLE HOUSE IN ENGLAND with an open space that looks like that.
There is
@@danbh84 No there ain’t.

where can I find the script for this scene?
This scenario would cause most women to become quite drenched. Defo one of my fave romance films.
The big question I have about this, where were his children and who was watching them on the night they "met"?
He mentions the grandparents once or twice.😌
We watched this film for the first time last week. We liked it but a few plot holes. Graham is a full time publisher and a full time Dad, and he goes to the pub and just leaves his kids to sleep in his sisters house. In fact he's always leaving his kids, to go on dates, jump on a train, drive about the countryside.
Also, why would a 4-year-old (or however old Olivia is) have her own phone number to show up on Daddy's phone? It might be a bit more believable these days, but I still don't know any kindergardener with their own phone, and the movie is from 2006.
I think on the weekends, the kids are supposed to be with either set of grandparents (they mention it at some point, think it may have been a few scenes after where she asks why he didn't mention the kids), but yeah the timeline of how he'd have time to go on dates presumably during the week is off.
Didn't listen enough. He said he gets to be a bachelor at times whenever he drops off the kids to be with their grandparents.
That movie just makes me feel so repulsed by fathers
1:07
😰
In what universe this is considered HD?
schrott
I would freak out if my date didn't tell me he is a father. My biggest nightmare. However these girls are so cute
Your biggest nightmare sharing a man who adores his kids.. huh
Good thing she had clothes on under that coat!
His character, Graham, would have known that Olivia was his younger daughter not his youngest. He only had two.
🤔🤷
You’re right
Maye he hoped that by saying "youngest" she would take the hint that no more were going to pop out of the door frame?
Technically ,the youngest is not wrong in this context.Although,a superlative degree,it can be used. For eg- Person A is the best.(even if there r 2 people)..
we dont use superlatives on a daily basis,n rely more on comparatives..
But according to Miriam webster,we can use superlative between 2
@@thedrilldoctor. Interesting. Miriam Webster is for American English. I wonder what the Oxford English Dictionary says about it, since the Graham character is British. Some day, I’ll have to look. Then, I’ll decide which is the “better” source.
British kids are *not* like this lol
😂
You look like my Barbie.
In Britain that is an insult.
Really ? What does it meas ?
@@nellyd7847 He's not right. If a kid was saying it she would mean you look beautiful like my doll. If a man said it he would mean you look plastic and fake.
@@england1413 Thank you :)
coming from a little girl, it sounds absolutely sweet
When a little boy or girl tells you that you look kind the mist glamorous, successful, and iconic doll known to history…it is absolutely not an insult.
Love this movie except I still can’t buy jack black as the love interest for Kate winslet, 1, he’s not a great actor and they have no chemistry, 2, it’s just unbelievable.
I personally would have felt more satisfied if they were just friends and Kate Winslet ended the movie single, but happy/content with that. The romance with Jack Black's character just always felt so out of left field to me.
@@Emimousiekin bc they had zero chemistry. Kate tried but it just wasn't believable.. His cheating ex story didn't make sense either.
@@Emimousiekin But the reason Kate's character was able to leave Jasper (her ex-boyfriend) forever was mainly because of Jack Black's chacacter. She's finally found a person that was exactly what she needed, fun, supportive and caring, just like her, that's why she was so happy at the end before Arthur's prize cerimony.
@@pedrooliveiraoliveirasimoe5478 but they just have no romantic chemistry, more like caring and supportive as friends to me
To you they might not have chemistry but their are people who do believe they do
