What’s the “The Holiday” movie about?
Iris (Kate Winslet from Titanic and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Amanda (Cameron Diaz from Charlie's Angels, The Mask and There’s Something About Mary) realizes that the man she is living with has been unfaithful.
One lives in England, the other in California. The two women, who have never met and live 600 miles from each other, come into contact on a home exchange website. Impulsively, they decide to swap homes for the holidays. Iris moves into Amanda's house in Los Angeles while Amanda stays at Iris, in the snow-covered English countryside.
Shortly after their arrival, the two women meet a man. Amanda falls for Graham (Jude Law from Sherlock Holmes, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Captain Marvel) as Iris meets Miles (Jack Black from School of Rock, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and King Kong).

I think this is my favorite scene. She thinks the worst and she just discovers his vulnerable side, how a devoted father he is.
It’s sad that he lost his wife.
Agreed. I came here looking for this scene because of that.
Also that the two ladies he is talking to on the phone earlier are his daughters.
I like how immediately Sophia and Olivia realized that their dad was bombing and rushed in to 'save' him from blowing his chances at happiness.
LOVE THAT love everything about the movie
best reveal ever, honestly. it's so wholesome!
My favorite Christmas movie. Great film. The girls that played his daughters were perfect. Just angels. If I ever had kids I would pray they would be just like them.❤️❤️❤️
This was the last movie my mom and I watched with my great grandmother while she was in the hospital. She passed the next day. This movie always makes me incredibly happy and incredibly sad all at once.
This movie is incredibly joyful and brings peace. It's about our next chapter in life and moving on with grace. This is the best movie ever, probably left you two in a good state!
❤
Sorry for your loss, friend. Glad you were able to make a good memory first.
For all the 'rom-com mushiness' that this scene has, there is a very heartwarming thing about a single father doting upon & raising two beautiful girls (& yet yearning to be a carefree bachelor, once in a while).
A very fine movie. Rom-coms are not always about the lives & events of attractive young people. It's about bonding with children and the elderly.... both of which are depicted very deftly in this movie.
Well said, love the realistic approach this movie has💖
Even in the movie, The Intern, by the same director, we get to see the unfolding of a beautiful 'father-daughter type' bonding between the two main characters.
I agree
Although how doting can he be? The man gets drunk and leaves his 2 girls home alone by themselves?
@@zenogoldsmith8884 interesting point. :)
Hopefully a babysitter was at home? :)
I love how these two little girls are practically schooling their father 🤣🤣
I love the subversion of expectations of Graham’s character. We’re lead to believe he’s nothing more than a playboy who doesn’t know how to commit to a woman. When in reality, he’s a struggling but loving Dad trying to figure out how to be alone in raising his two girls and to recover from his grief from losing his wife.
Women love single fathers unlike how men feel about single mothers.
@@yusufraage8554
Men don't want single mothers cus:
1. Assuming the guy isn't dead, it's either he's left her for a reason or she's bad at picking men
2. Most people don't want to look after and pay for someone else's kids, and there's completely normal
I was assuming that also applies to the female gender but apparently not
"You look loik mah bahbay" I loved the girls so adorable
That was such a precious comment ☺️
Would love to see what these girls look like today!! ❤
@@giannacaradonna3485One is now heavily tattooed
I'm not a native english speaker, probably not a great accent recognizer but, doesn't Olivia sound kind of Aussie in this scene? 🥰
His face when he shuts the door 😭🤣
That might just be my favourite bit!
His facial expression in this scene 😂😂
Best part of the movie is with the girls, so adorable
They were!
This movie is so cozy, I love it so much 😍
Me too, it gives the right holiday feels ❤
Cameron Diaz at her finest 😍😍
YEAH.
Those girls were too freaking adorable!🥰
The chemistry between Jude law and the two young actresses is awesome. It makes this scene pop.
i love that part when the girls line up and stare at her. it is soo funny and so sweet. maybe it gets to me because i my older sister and twin sister used to do that when we were little kids.
They are his best wingman or wing women
jude law was exquisite here
One can only imagine how beautiful the love child of Cameron and Jude would be.
It's just so powerful how the simple spelling of "W-I-D-O-W-E-R" changes everything
Made me tear up as i lost my wife 6 years ago.

And I am totally into this movie ❤️
Yes good
Yup! I did my usual yearly re-watch last night… and was smiling and happy all the way to the end! ❤❤❤ Love me some Jude Law!
My wife and daughter does the same thing. It’s a tradition now. Every November 1st, I know exactly what we’re watching that evening (and the rest of the month).
This movie has some magic
Olivia is sooooo precious!!!!!😭
Kate Winslet is the better actress, but in this movie I really love and prefer Cameron Diaz. I love her awkward relationship with Jude Law. It feels so normal, even if its awkward.
The awkwardness is probably what makes it so “normal”.😌
...better? ...I would say more talented...
One of my favourite at the time this is mind blowing and still going..
I think That I have seen this movie a hundred times.
this movie is one of my biggest guilty secrets.............i completely love it and cry like a drain. And I'm 60 y/o "geezer". Jude Law and Cameron Diaz were brilliant together and seem to actually have got on very well.
I want to know why Jude Law saying "I am Daddy" has not been turned into a meme yet. I'm very disappointed in you, Internet.
He cheated with his kids nanny, so, maybe having that meme around would be kind of ..not so good.
You see many plot twists in films that are shocking but this one was just genuine and very sad.
Ah...the time when good rom coms were made. ❤
I love this movie I watch it when it's Christmas
I love how he let the "reveal" sit for just a beat, and then quickly changed to an upbeat tone and went to the hot chocolate offer. As if to give her just a moment to digest it and realize that he wasn't a shallow playboy, and that they could certainly talk about it at another time, but not wanting it to be heavy for either of them, or his girls, and also somewhat signifying this was his transition to slowly moving on, he wanted to focus more on Amanda and his daughters, in the moment, as opposed to dwelling on the past.
The "take her coat" delivery always cracks me up in such a heart warming way.. a sweeter version of "dad, get your head out of your arse before you mess this up." Also subtle way of showing her/their "approval" or even "permission" for him to let himself get to know and even love another woman, which I would imagine is a concern of any parent who lost a spouse.
Diaz also, is brilliant in this short scene. Intially showing a blend of shock and even perhaps annoyance, to slowly having the realization that he was a good man and also understanding why he would be protective about this piece of his life, especially with someone he just met who is from another continent.
Superb writing and acting in this scene, by all four.
Jude Law had not one, but two devoted sidekicks there, and they saved his ass big time.
I LOVE, LOVE this Movie !!!❤❤❤❤
Such a lovely movie. These kids are amazing
Hey, any idea what song is playing in the beginning?
This movie is amazing
Love this movie. One of my all time favorites! Always lights me up❤️😊

I love this movie
Heart warming ❤🎉😊
So love this amazing cast and film fun lif++e lessons!
Beautiful and sweet little girls

You can say what you want about this being a terrible couple (because they haven't had any time to get to know each other and this is basically just a flirt), but it's acted in a very charming manner.
I gotta cut back watching this vid to 4-5x’s a day. Something bout every little detail
The Holiday and Love Actually, My long flights and Christmas go to.
0:37 he is daddy indeed
loved the show
I love this movie.❤️💯
I dunno how i feel to be as jude law's daughter. Ur dad is the hottest man alive
I run into this scene a lot, don’t care for the movie… but, I hate imagine so many little girls like these, without a mom. The look on Cameron face… heartbreaking
I really like this show
The most unbelievable thing about this movie is that we are still supposed to believe the inside of THAT house is in England. Let me tell you. There isn’t a SINGLE HOUSE IN ENGLAND with an open space that looks like that.
There is
@@danbh84 No there ain’t.
@@thomaskilroy4573 well mine is
@@danbh84 And just where do you live can I ask? Because I’ll bet I can bloody guess. Go on.
@@thomaskilroy4573 south east, not to be precise lol
This part of the movie (through the end in the tent) was by far the strongest part of this movie. The kids were brilliant, as was Jude. This movie pushed the limits of Cameron Diaz's range - she is good (and pretty great in this part as well), but prettier than she is talented. The ending fails the rest of the really good work in this movie, but I like it as a while anyway.
I love ( being a hopeless romantic) The Romantic Genre and this one in my AllTime Top 5 Since my AllTime Fav Movie is and always has been The Good The Bad and The Ugly with Eli Wallach gripping performance I was stunned as a 90 year old man he swung the Dinner Date with Kate Winslet in this classic Epitome of Feel Good Movie❤ !
Gyönyörű, lenyűgöző ez a film.
Naturally Al Green would be playing.
I think I’m personally responsible for half the views on this video
Oh I love that movie
Long Beach Poly! Whoot Whoot!
Brought wine for a date. Ended up having hot chocolate with the girls. 😂❤😅
Hey, does anybody want to feel old?
The actress playing Sophie is already a mother.
0:27 😂😂she just realized that Olivia n Sophie r his daughters not his friend girls
My god, he is so fine
The big question I have about this, where were his children and who was watching them on the night they "met"?
He mentions the grandparents once or twice.😌
In what universe this is considered HD?
I watched this recently
💗💫
That movie just makes me feel so repulsed by fathers
Crap now I have to stop and see if this playing for free anywhere, please, please, please
where can I find the script for this scene?
❤❤❤
This scenario would cause most women to become quite drenched. Defo one of my fave romance films.
We watched this film for the first time last week. We liked it but a few plot holes. Graham is a full time publisher and a full time Dad, and he goes to the pub and just leaves his kids to sleep in his sisters house. In fact he's always leaving his kids, to go on dates, jump on a train, drive about the countryside.
Also, why would a 4-year-old (or however old Olivia is) have her own phone number to show up on Daddy's phone? It might be a bit more believable these days, but I still don't know any kindergardener with their own phone, and the movie is from 2006.
I think on the weekends, the kids are supposed to be with either set of grandparents (they mention it at some point, think it may have been a few scenes after where she asks why he didn't mention the kids), but yeah the timeline of how he'd have time to go on dates presumably during the week is off.
Didn't listen enough. He said he gets to be a bachelor at times whenever he drops off the kids to be with their grandparents.
