One of the slowest-moving movies I've ever watched. I like the sea, and stretches of film just looking out to sea from the coast is a beautiful scene -- but it sure does nothing to move the plot.
I can't believe the ending of this movie. There was no justice, no purpose to all of this. It was like the producer of this movie ran out of time to come up with an ending.
It's based on a true story.
There's an ending but I'm guessing they decided not to add it to the film
They put a black man in the jail, without much evidence, expect he is black... That's the reason the producer had to be "innovative" and fabricate another ending. It's hard for me to understand, why they even pick up these stories, when they are ashamed to actually tell them...
Otherwise, real life Christa had a lot of sex affairs, she created a lot of drama, and frankly - any of her "lovers" could have killed her. Real life has no "justice", only consequences of your actions... This "movie" totally failed to represent that.

I actually watched this with trepidation because of the reviews. I LOVED IT. The acting was slow, and it was a bit hard to keep up with who was who, but the fundamental story was there with exquisite cinematic views. I am, however, so very sorry that this was a true story and to hear how Henry landed.

*The Woman is DEAD. So it wasn't that hard to do.* That's her Husband's Child and her Children's sibling. She probably wanted another Kid anyway. Saved her the Trouble of going through a Pregnancy, Birth, Weight Gain and Hormonal Changes. *The Harlot should've used Protection knowing that she was screwing someone's Husband.* HE SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO CHEAT AND SHOULD'VE BEEN CAREFUL *_since it was just a "Hook-Up"._* Selfish moments come with Consequences.

This has to be the dumbest movie I've seen! He's doing her in front of everyone in town she goes away and comes back with a kid he tells the 🙈🙉🙊wife she acts like she didn't know about the affair! The wife killed his lover no doubt about it! The person that wrote this movie needs to be fired!

I give this a 👍👍 Life is messy, so even though this wasn't a big Screen Movie, I believe it did depict reality & how we need to turn to Jesus for real Guidance, because being human Life is full of trials & errors, and the writer showed with Forgiveness there can be Healing
The lead actress reminds me of Linda Carter, who played wonder woman in the 1970s. It was also nice to see a wrong woman offer forgiveness to a man who wronged her, instead of breaking out into a chorus of To The Left by Beyoncé🎉

Elizabeth was a very manipulative and emotionally needed person and I think she brought on a lot of her own problems...she needed help. I didn't like Mike's wife much either. Sad state of affairs for everyone. A beautiful place with a lot of unhappy people.

First time I was ever more curious about who was going to do the killing than who was going to get killed. I'm used to murders happening in the beginning of movies.

Lady cop said she doesn't know why sheriff puts signs up pays her when he's not gonna enforce the law ( with a straight face) . I like her attitude
You'll never guess who actually killed Christa Worthington. He wasn't even depicted in this movie, unless the screenwriter was using a remarkable amount of artistic license extending beyond actual names.

Christopher McCowen, the garbage collector, murdered her and they didn't tell that crucial part. His DNA proved it and he's in prison! What a lame movie, not telling the real story just because he is black. This is injustice to the victim.

Good question. A lot of people me included think McGowan was not guilty he was set up to cover for one of the town residents.
My guess is the annoying neighbor who she broke up with. He was angry and he was jealous and he was nuts. And an Truro resident of long standing.
McCowan is still in prison. Life. He has no chance of another trial - he's not one of the regular townspeople.
Bad miscarriage of justice.

DNA cannot generally "prove" a murder.

As the next comment says, the real killer was no one even in the movie if you look up the real name of the girl Christa Worthington you will find out the whole real story. Similar but a few differences, the main one being who killed the lady who had the baby.
A person was convicted of the murder. I have my doubts whether he was "the real killer".

11:13 FUNNY STORY: that clown of a motorcycle cop on the pier was a real cop in town…that is until she dug up a body in the town cemetery and was forced into “retirement” rather than be fired. We don’t like grave robbers in Provincetown. She was put on the Dirty Cop list in Massachusetts which could put every single one of her arrests into jeopardy, and nobody will hire her. Evidently making “false statements” in official reports (aka being a big fat liar) is against the law. Ironically, last weekend I was walking on the beach about 30 feet from where the body washed up towards the end of the movie and I found the fat disgraced ex-cop’s billfold with all her shit in it, including about 21 whole dollars! Of course I turned it in to the Provincetown police, and we all had a good laugh at the expense of a certain lying ex-cop.
Her house was isolated in a wooded area, with a road in front, a hill then the ocean.

There are some extra cringe people on the Cape. A crime drama is going to concentrate on them rather than all the good, friendly people.

Actually they traced the DNA found on her to a garbage man, a black man, which made it a racial issue, even though it wasn’t. She was a bit of a home wrecker, but didn’t deserve to be murdered, obviously.

@@emmib1388 Yes. Once DNA became mainstream and they could use much smaller samples in testing, they discovered that a local waste management worker was the culprit. I don’t remember how they matched the samples - I think maybe his sample was in the justice system because he had committed another crime - but they did find the truth. She lived a juicy life with lovers, homewrecking, wealth and drama, so a somewhat random act of violence/murder was unexpected, and boring. 😑
