As a console crafter, I greatly appreciate that you built this without observers. I already have a massive individual sorting system, but with the introduction of Shulker boxes, I'm building a module for my building backpacks. Thank You for the #buildideas!
xB has a TON of nether rack. the problem is he has only one or two shulker boxes and the trip is a long one just one way......maybe you ask him if you could grab some. he used to have chests all along his old tunnel full but may have moved it.
The trapped-chest behavior could actually be a feature: as long as the chest is open, you can take your time making sure all the slots are full because nothing will happen until you close the chest again. It takes off the pressure to drop a single item back as quickly as possible.
the problem is any items that need to go into that chest wont just wait, they will completely skip the chest I built his earlier design and had that problem before i remembered they were trapped chest and the hopper didnt work.
Tango, you should add a shulkerbox plugin spot. Just put some open hoppers at the beginning of the hopper line so you can place the shulkerbox on that. Saves you a lot of item moving from box to inventory to chest! :)
Ravens Shadow 2 yes, although when you add the lever you would not need the piston. He could just break the box and it will fall on the hopper. I don't think he has enough room for a piston in his design!
A pyramid or cone with its top bisected off is a frustum, and that would be cool. But you should make it more like a Ziggurat, which is a lot like a frustum but an actual structure in ancient Mesopotamia. A Ziggurat would look awesome.
i have a cool idea for a neat desing for the "filler" netherrack on the inside of your path, if you dig down about seven blocks in a cracking motion about 6 or 7 blocks wide, in the cracks place red stained glass then on that normal glass then red again then black then red again. afterward it looks like a super cool fog from a distance
I built the old system twice this year. Super fun. It was really easy to add a spot to plug in a shulker for unloading into the system. Best part is the hopper locks with the "item lock" so the shulker doesn't drop in the system when you break it. I highly, highly suggest you add one to this new system. I can't wait to see any shulker improvements you might add to this system. Also love that each module is independent and has it's own input chest! Can. Not. Wait. for this tutorial. :) Thanks Tango!
15:40 -- Tango Tutorial Mode brooks no interruption from mere game physics! Good stuff m8. Used your old storage system for a while now. It's a good build, but oh god, the ticking! The endless, relentless Poevian ticking of that accursed tell-tale droppervator.
That redstone looks very... elegant. It is compact without being too crammed, it's fast, silent, it's easy to reach all chests... It's brilliant. If you make a tutorial of this it could be really good for your channel Bravo
almost correct... special case it will be a RIGHT FRUSTUM From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In geometry, a frustum[1] (plural: frusta or frustums) is the portion of a solid (normally a cone or pyramid) that lies between one or two parallel planes cutting it. A right frustum is a parallel truncation of a right pyramid.
Maybe you could leave a few spaces open in the first module to place shulker boxes instead of chests so that they have priority, for example if you left your red stone box in front of the first hopper, and then dumped a ton of redstone junk into the system, it would top off your redstone box first, if it was configured, and then it would sort into the main redstone storage.
"Come on, gimme middle click, why you no workie?" Tango 2017 Gotta love it when you say things like that Tango, rest assured, you're not alone in that haha!
You should put a row of redstone lamps at the top that turn on when an item is in that column, so that you know the progress of the items as they travel through the system.
The redstone lamp would only flash when an item went through the top hopper so that wouldn't work. However if you place a redstone lamp in the floor that is triggered off of the front redstone torch. When the lamp is off THAT module has stopped and vice versa.
you can have a lever locked hopper chain on the last chest that handles items that either miss the storage or are not yet assigned chests and then A/ throw out via trash line or B/ feed back into the system to sort because some items missed their slot cause u know// trap chest
Maybe include a few shulker boxs before the rest of the chest (redstone box, emergency supplies, stuff for landscaping, what have you), so that they would fill before the rest of the system, ensuring they're always kept topped up? Just if your looking for a way to include shulkers somehow
Reason for using dropper elevator rather than the good ol' glass tubes? Compactness, I assume? But it doesn't seem to me that it saves *much* space, since it requires redstone all the way up, whereas the tube would only need it at the bottom. Thoughts? Could use a shutoff switch for the system -- or maybe a pause switch for each module? -- so you can rearrange chests or have trapped chests open without worrying about items coming in at the same time. Especially if you have items from farms and such coming in and not just items you put in yourself.
so you can put ore into your storage system and it will put into a chest that can output to an auto-smelter sytem? which can then route back into your storage array? that would be some setup, wow. Also what would the last chest be? empty so it takes misc items? Or do you route the last hopper to the first so it keeps looping? stuff might get looped forever, maybe misc chest would be good idea instead?
you should connect your sorter to your super smelter so that all of the sticks from your witch farm go into it as the fuel for your smeltery. Like I have always seen people make these quad witch farms which produce tons of sticks but just throw them away when they could be used as fuel, also you can put the armor and stuff you get from mob farms to go to your smeltery as well to auto melt them down if all that your using as fuel is free sticks.
Thanks, now you messed up my day. A Tango episode ends with "Tango out" and not "goodbye", so my brain will think I'm watching an episode for days until the proper end of the next episode comes around. :-P Seriously though, this storage system is pretty amazing. There are a lot of these types and I am not a huge fan of having the filter inside the chest, but the modularity of this one makes it so flexible and adaptable to what you want aesthetically. Often it's "form follows function" when it comes to storage systems, but here you have a lot of freedom. If you have the time, definitely make a tutorial about it, man! And don't forget to put in your stair down trick, it's actually pretty clever thinking about it. I'm currently designing my own large storage system and I had an idea you may want to include in yours as well: Put a contraption in the back where the input goes through, that places down all shulker boxes and empties them out, putting the items into the input as well. That way you can throw a shulker box full of junk from a project into the input chest without having to manually place the items in. Not sure whether it would be worth it but I really am liking the idea, wanted to share it.
Any tips on converting from the old design to this one? Already have a great big room that ticks when sorting and making it quiet would be great. It looks like its mostly the dropper elevator and the clock that is different. The alternating hopper lock appears to be the same. If/when you do get round to a new tutorial please add a bit on conversion.
I have been using the old clicking design for over two years now, on a server, with the only issue being the terrible noise. This update is MUCH appreciated and needed!! However, while converting my old one, I found that out of every 16 items, I get 5 that skips the intended chests and ends up unfiltered (and out of 64, I get 20, out of 8, 3). It is MOST likely an issue on my end as the numbers are always the same.., perhaps I have wrong timing somewhere. I will double check, but anyone else have similar issues?
lol i tweeted you about this multi storage system a couple of hours before it was publish. i use shulker box instead of chest. hot swapping shulker boxes
Maybe you could do shulkers in the opposite sides from where you were thinking the ender chest n anvils go? You could easily get 12 or 14 in the those openings depending if you go either 6 or 7 tall. I dunno I'm rather pathetic at the game LOL but watching you guys has helped a lot for me understanding the mob mechanics and for that I am truly grateful :) I try to catch you and ImpulseSV streaming but I miss out a lot :( keep up the awesome vids :) Oh Mrs. Tango wet willies were priceless XD
Please do a tutorial TangoTek! I built by pausing and copying what you did on camera but the final part with connecting the hoppers and some redstone magic is frustrating me, I can see you ran some redstone over the hoppers, which I assume connects the signal to the alternate locking system, as thats currently not getting a signal for me... Edit: Just figured it out from the brief view. Pretty obvious actually lol. thanks for a great design!
Hi Tango, I built a (multi item) sorting system where you don't have to fill up every slot in your chests! (Yes this is kind of self promotion, but I want people to notice this concept - it's definitely worth it and maybe someone can even improve it.)
As someone who as tried to build it from this video I still would appreciate a tutorial since he zips quickly across a few of the intricate pieces. Either he went through them too quick (even using pause from multiple angles) or there is a flaw in the design. The very first item never makes it into the first chest on each side..
For me it's not so easy. Some of the blocks only appear in the video for a fraction of a second as he's panning around. It's hard to pause it at exactly the right frame such that you can see it. And it's hard to count how many blocks are in a row because they're presented at a very narrow angle. It's a great video, just not a tutorial.
Hey Tango! Can't you rearrange the chests so that you have pillar, chests, pillar, chests, etc.... That way you don't have to use trapped chests at all. I also think having a "pause" lever that stops the flow of items is quite useful for interacting with your storage while it's in the middle of sorting.
Does your bottom row of chests work? I've built a similar thing before but can't get the bottom left chest working. See my other comment, would appreciate if you could help.
I think I got a good enough look at it here to not need the tutorial, but it'd be nice to have one anyway. I don't think I have enough iron on hand to build that many hoppers in any of my current worlds though, so guess which tutorial I really want to see :-) (Yeah, I could build a basic iron farm, but I'm trying to supply multiple people in one world and trying to build an iron castle in another).
Hey tango ,love your content you are truly genius in your designs I was wondering how difficult it would be to convert your previous design to silent as shown here? And could you possibly show that in a tutorial? Thank you for always inspiring creative concepts
Is noise the only factor in the redesign? Is the elevator merely silent now, or is it faster and/or does it reduce lag? One of the great things about the original design was the compactness.
This one loses a couple of blocks in the back to get the silence. Very worth it in my opinion. It also clocks the items through each module in a much cleaner, efficient way.
Ran into a problem with copying this design (v1.12). The bottom row wasn't filling up at all, it was being skipped. I realized that in the video you dusted to the bottom lock blocks instead of using repeaters into them, so they weren't actually locking the hoppers for the bottom row correctly. Popping the repeater in on the left side (from the back)isn't an issue, but the right side one is because it needs to sit right on top the main power block from the timer... Have you run into this? [Test conditions: top five chests in each column filled with substance X (dirt), then sent through a trackable number of a different item.]
Can you make a tutorial on making this step by step? I am new to redstone and do not understand what is going on when you just blast right by it, expecting that everybody is an expert
Sorry, as a semi-redstone newbie, I get what the modules and hoppers do but not how they are built...could you do an updated tutorial for this better storage system? :-)
would appreciate a tutorial as well. first module went fine, second module the torches locking the chests will not operate. Something simple I am sure is wrong, but a little more detail on the build would help. edit: found a slab that should have been a block....
I got a quick question since he puts items in every slot and then one thing of iron could doing 1 in every slot in the hopper then 12 at the end in the hopper do the same thing I know it is not 12 but 1 in all slots then a bigger number
I built it, but i have a problem: when i try using it, the blocks dont go into the chest but skip the hoppers sometimes and go to the "output", a chest where non sorted items go
As a console crafter, I greatly appreciate that you built this without observers. I already have a massive individual sorting system, but with the introduction of Shulker boxes, I'm building a module for my building backpacks. Thank You for the #buildideas!
Building with iron blocks!! Welcome back Tango :D
he needs to give some iron to mumbo he hasn't gt much iron
Raymond Lincoln. no commie. mumbo can get his own.

Yes! Please do a full tutorial! This is one of the best setups out there. To have it be silent would be the greatest.

a hopper and a leaver to lock the hopper & a piston to remove it.
Ravens Shadow 2 yes, although when you add the lever you would not need the piston. He could just break the box and it will fall on the hopper. I don't think he has enough room for a piston in his design!
Can't wait to design my own! This helped me understand a lot of the mechanics behind it! Thanks!
A pyramid or cone with its top bisected off is a frustum, and that would be cool.
But you should make it more like a Ziggurat, which is a lot like a frustum but an actual structure in ancient Mesopotamia.
A Ziggurat would look awesome.

That storage room looks amazing. I really like your plans, and can't wait to see this tower completed.
Have big chains going from the storage area to the towers. Kinda like it was a ship that's anchored to your base

That looks so much better than the one Impulse did... way more compact
Another plus to this storage system is that it doesn't use pistons, so you can unload the chunks while it's working without worry.

"A pyramid with its top cut off". Truncated pyramid? Ziggurat?
Marv Albertson it's called a frustum.
777 Sweeper Isn't a frustum just for a cone with the top cut off, not a pyramid?
That feel when Tango is pleading for netherack and Mumbo is using it as junk blocks :^)

can you make new sorting system tutorial tango tek plz....
haziq haikkal .
plz
haziq haikkal No, he should make the Iron FEnix Tutorial first
That would be awesome if you made a tutorial.
hes not mumbo

Already in the next video ;-)
This is going to be an amazing season.
A bit late, but wait until you see Season 7
Hmm... Ziggurat shape for the building, perhaps? Those are the tiered buildings, like Mesopotamia or the Aztecs.

Thank Rim. I'd love to see the shulker unloader piece. Oh.... and.... Tango Out.
This is very cool. Thanks for sharing it. By the way, I really enjoyed the livestream, you, and Impulse did on Sunday. Keep up the great works! :)
You should make it so when it's sorting items it lights a lamp saying "don't access trapped chests!
When I watch any Hermitcraft video, I always speed the video by 1.5, and so then when I watch a stream, I'm always like, "*ITS SO SLOW!*" xD
The new storage room is pretty insane
You should add a place where you can plop down a shulker box and let it flow through your system. Otherwise it looks really good!
Hmm, good idea
Tango, please do a step-by-step tutorial on this one! I'd love that, and I'm probably not the only one who does
On the input line you should put an open hopper so you can unload shulker box easier.
Any tips on converting from the old design to this one? Already have a great big room that ticks when sorting and making it quiet would be great. Fine, I'll be that somebody. A pyramid with it's apex truncated is called a pyramidal frustum. Are you happy now? Look who you made me become!
Tango likes it when the chests are close, mumbo like it when they are spread apart!!! Which is better?!!
Shulker Box storage system wins
Please do a tutorial TangoTek! (Yes this is kind of self promotion, but I want people to notice this concept - it's definitely worth it and maybe someone can even improve it.)
Man u are an underrated builder!
I believe the word for a pyramid without its top is "frustum."
Tango you can have three walls with chest and the fourth with skurer boxes with color like red for redstone or you can have it in the celling
Yes, new tutorial please, sir!! Don't be an A.S.S. !!! LOL(That's gonna haunt you, you realize this, right?)
This system is excellent! Thank you!
could every body go to 5:12 in the video and see if i'm the only one who heard tango swear?
You aren't the first to think that. Trust me I didn't.
Nice, nice, NICE! I wanna build this instead of a full auto storage system
You should put red stone lamps on each module so you know it's active and shouldn't open trapped chests.
Kris Edmondson Jip impulse did that.
Can you PLEASE do a tutorial on your amazing sorting system because I really want an automatic sorting system in my world?!!
If you follow the video you can reconstruct/build it yourself as this is in itself a tutorial on it already
Gray baker excacly it's really easy just copy what he did in the video
As someone who as tried to build it from this video I still would appreciate a tutorial since he zips quickly across a few of the intricate pieces.
Either he went through them too quick (even using pause from multiple angles) or there is a flaw in the design. The very first item never makes it into the first chest on each side..
Which part are you having trouble with? Maybe I can help you get it sorted out. (no pun intended)
I made one modual in a testingworld. Works perfekt! :) Thanks Tango!

Hey Tango! Can't you rearrange the chests so that you have pillar, chests, pillar, chests, etc.... That way you don't have to use trapped chests at all. I also think having a "pause" lever that stops the flow of items is quite useful for interacting with your storage while it's in the middle of sorting.
Yes you can but it requires putting in extra hoppers, blocks, and redstone dust. I will see if I can redesign it.
Impulse did the same sorting system but he used some shucker boxes as well
Got it built in survival works great! 👍🏻
Does your bottom row of chests work? I've built a similar thing before but can't get the bottom left chest working. See my other comment, would appreciate if you could help.
I think I got a good enough look at it here to not need the tutorial, but it'd be nice to have one anyway. I don't think I have enough iron on hand to build that many hoppers in any of my current worlds though, so guess which tutorial I really want to see :-)
(Yeah, I could build a basic iron farm, but I'm trying to supply multiple people in one world and trying to build an iron castle in another).
Hey tango ,love your content you are truly genius in your designs I was wondering how difficult it would be to convert your previous design to silent as shown here? And could you possibly show that in a tutorial? Thank you for always inspiring creative concepts
I'm curious where chunk borders landed in that system, and if they cause any concern.
Tango, you should make the tower around the elevator in a double helix shape.
Yayayayayayayayayaay another video, im hyped
Tango, you need Netherrack ? Do a quarry ! A little one like on scicraft serv. I'm sure ilmango could help you :D
[Test conditions: top five chests in each column filled with substance X (dirt), then sent through a trackable number of a different item.]
what if there was a row of hoppers leading into the start chest to place Shulkers on and auto empty your Shulkers into sorting system
YAAAASSSSS TANGO TEK
Since a tutorial may not happen for a bit, is there anyway to get a world download? Did you test build this in creative?
93312 Items can be stored in one double chest if this chest is filled with chulkerboxes.
well, but not automatically
I miss fortresscraft and emperion too!
Love the changes btw!
I would love a tutorial of this sort system... great work
The claws should be a bit random. They shouldn't all be the same height, and some should be kind of broken.
tango, you should make the storage room to look like the eye of sauron
Maybe you can add shulker boxes in between each "bay".
I got a quick question since he puts items in every slot and then one thing of iron could doing 1 in every slot in the hopper then 12 at the end in the hopper do the same thing I know it is not 12 but 1 in all slots then a bigger number
Guys tango needs netherrack tango's gonna be happy.
Love the system and a tutorial for it would be awesome
Stream on Mixer? What happened to Beam?
Beam has been renamed to Mixer.
Ah! That makes more sense.
You base is like impulse's but you have witch farm instead of guardian farm
Douglas Wong so it no where near the same
