  • If your Porsche Cayenne Starts up but pretty much stalls out here is a simple video to help you trouble shoot it.
    When a primary fuel pump goes bad it can make the car stall out after running for a little bit and yet still will start up due to the secondary pump priming the fuel system.

    You saved my a$$, Got stuck on the side of the highway and while waiting for the tow truck I watched your video. Knowing that the cayenne has 2 fuel pumps I pulled one of the fuses and still bad then put it back in and pulled the other fuse and bang it started up an I drove it home. For anyone else stuck it's fuses 13 and 14 on the driver's side panel right by the windshield I used a dime to get the screws out to getting the fuse. Thanks for the video I owe u a beer.

    Thank you Cody the Car Guy! My car stalled just like you described and the fuse bypass worked like you said. I am glad it was not the alternator because that seems harder to replace than a fuel pump. You are a lifesaver - thanks for sharing this information! I am grateful.

    Great vid. Guys with similar symptoms, the Cayenne likes to eat car batteries. Weak batteries have a similar effect as to this. Feels like its starts, then dies right after...try jumping your car, to see if it starts...obviously, if you are checking pressure, this is a different story, but if you don't have a pressure gauge and just working off the same symptom, it may also be a dead or dying battery, even if its just a year old. All the electronics on the Porsche really likes to eat batteries...

    I recently switched the white fuel filter cover (the recall part that Porsche doesn't have any in stock). This is the pump on USA drivers side car. So after changing out just the white part, my fuel gauge wouldn't work and it would run just like in this video. What I found out was the orange rubber gasket inside the electrical connector was swollen and wouldn't allow a firm electrical connection to the plug. I just removed the orange rubber gasket, and this appears to have fixed the issue. Cayenne runs great now and the fuel gauge is working too.

    Hi Cody,Hi, I'm Horacio from Argentina and I have a problem with my cayenne that has me fried, it starts very cold, it starts well being hot if it does not spend more than 10/15 minutes, now if it is stopped for an hour or two the start is triggered and takes a few 10 seconds and it starts as if flooded, change the position sensors all, cams and crankshaft, filters and fuel caps, coils, spark plugs, test the injectors in case they leaked, I put the fuel pump so that it starts when contacting, measured the pressure fuel, check the canister, new battery, in synthesis do not leave anything unchecked, the unusual thing is that it does not mark any failure when scanning, once you start the engine it works perfect, the truth is I am puzzled something like this never happened to me, it is also a role that a Porsche takes to turn on, already grateful if someone can guide me.

    Hey Cody great vid! I had the same problem with my Cayenne and I changed the fuel pumps and the relay. Now she won’t start at all. I hear it kick on but it just cranks and cranks like it’s not receiving fuel. I have checked every fuse… I took them back out and there was no pressure in the tanks. Any advice?

    • @CodytheCarGuy
      @CodytheCarGuy  Год назад +1

      You have to have at least 6 gallons in the tank to restart it. So if you were low on fuel when you changed it then it won't start until you add extra fuel.

    • @rossmeadmusic
      @rossmeadmusic Год назад

      I had over 5 in it, not sure it was more than 6 though. I hand pumped it all out lol into a 5 gallon tank. I’ll try that again. I’m hesitant to put 6 more gallons in it because I don’t want to hand pump it all out again but… I’m desperate lol Ty for commenting back!

    • @CodytheCarGuy
      @CodytheCarGuy  Год назад +1

      @@rossmeadmusic I would just add a few more if you know for a fact 5 gals are already in the tank. And then see if it primes up and runs.

    Hi Cody, mine will not start, a 2006 cayenne turbos, it's been sitting for months due to a dead battery. I finally got one yesterday and installed it. I turned the car on and it ran for about 10 min. and it died instantly, no shocking like it's out of gas or a gas pump like in the video where it's trying to keep running. I tried to start it, and it won't, the starter will try and then it will stop. i tried to push the gas pedal while it's trying to start and that's how i got it to start. I let it run for a bit. today I took it to get gas, started in the morning, no problem went got gas and then it wouldn't start again, so I had to give it gas while the starter is going and that's how I got it to come back home. what the problem is, i'm thinking fuel pump is not giving gas on startup

      There is a fuse under the hood that will blow if you have a issue with the fuel pump and I have even seen it blow when someone runs the Cayenne out of gas.
