I haven't actually watched the video yet (will do it later) but I'm so glad you posted this! I've been wanting to learn how to do it, and your tutorials are always great and easy to follow! And it's nice to see other people with chronic pain out in the world doing their thing. I've made a chameleon and a frog plushie from your tutorials. Thanks for all the great stuff that you do!

As a lefty😂 you just start reading stitches on the other side (the direction you are working from) , or you will end up with a mirrored image of the pattern (which works best with a completely symmetrical pattern or picture). Work as you go, read it the same way you make it. 👍easy peasy not super over complicated
I appreciate the thought of reaching out to your crafting community 😊

This is great information for any beginner! I would like to add that you should measure the center of a gauge swatch. The sides can be a bit off (e.g. your starting chain can be a little tight or loose), which is why you usually make your gauge swatch a bit bigger than you need so you can get accurate measurements.

I love videos explaining how to do these types of things from scratch, sometimes you have a vision that just isn’t available from another creator etc. Also, your eye makeup really suits you in this video. I can’t wait for a part two if you decide to do one!

I've wanted to make a crocheted blanket but I didn't think I would be able to-I think if I mess around with these tools you've given us enough I might be able to make it and share it eventually and that makes me so unbelievably happy. Thank you so much

super helpful!I always free handed my work but hated it because i could never be consistant. As simple as making your own grid sounds, we all know it's not. Thank you for simply explaining it for me! I feel more confident :)

So, I don't knit but I have looked into learning. My mom tried to teach me, ages ago, and I just could not do it. In looking into learning, I found that there is a way to do so, called continental knitting which is apparently easier for crocheters to learn and quicker to do, too. Anyways, I just thought I would mention it in case you hadn't heard about it and wanted to check it out.

Thanks for the tip! Many people have said the same about the continental style being easier for crocheters to learn, so I'm probably going to start with that. Tbh, it's good to hear the same thing from multiple sources in this case!

@@SkeinSpider A MILLION TIMES EASIER! lmao and easier on the body too imo because there's less lifting of the hand and fingers. You basically use the needle like a hook and wrap the yarn AROUND the needle like you would a hook. Bring both back through your space and slide your stich off the previoius needle. It feels like crocheting with a smooth hook imo lol

It's a lot easier. I didn't know that's what I was doing, I just finally found a video that explained it that way and it was so much more fluid it made so much more sense to my crocheter brain.

I was considering asking about this because I was working on my own Pokémon blanket using your patterns, and I’m catching up. That might be a factor as to the growing frequency of the question

Southpaw checking in (southpaw = left-handed). We crochet left to right so when we read a grid made by a right -handed person, we have to read it backwards. Sometimes we have to work the rows in the opposite direction. So if the grid is written top to bottom I might have to do it bottom to top.
