These type of videos are so helpful. I know I can get discouraged that I can't seem to "keep up"- I don't mean just in crochet, but life in general. It's really hard to get things done, and it's amaxing that you're able to still able to upload every week.

I crochet for myself not for anyone else. My grandmother was a very fast crocheted and knitter but that was her. I’ve been doing for 30-45 years and I’m happy with what I get done.

I think all forms of social media and content creation could use more of this type of transparency. You see the best versions of everything created, you may see some bloopers here and there but you're seeing POLISHED stuff. You're not seeing the chaos, messy process that is most of the creative process. I needed this video today, and I thank you so much for your time even on your rest day. You are a wonderful creator and I am always looking forward to what you do in the future. Cheers and much love, -S.

This was the video I needed today 💜 For what it's worth, a lot of what you are talking about matches my experience here too. I spend way more time now video editing than crocheting. I feel like that is something I wish I knew before I started XD
I'm so jealous of your ability to run parallel projects at the same time! I am going to learn from you and get better at it! (Also I'd be down for the directors cut of 8 hours of you swearing while struggling with the wings, just saying!)

    I love your transparency.
It’s so important to see that other people make mistakes too.
I’m making an afghan for my college bff and I had to frog like 6 rows of half-double and triple crochet stitches.
It happens, I think it’s important for new crocheters especially to see that even those of us who have been doing this for years still make mistakes.
    ❤❤❤❤❤

Thanks for explaining the process of making a video. When a 20 minute video takes 8-10 hours to make, it’s obvious that we’re doing it because we love it. And so much prep…days, weeks, even months at times. And like you I keep some of my flubs in my videos so people can see I’m real. This was a great video. I think we should be transparent with our audience because it shows that they aren’t the only ones who sometimes struggle. Cuz that struggle is real! 😂

Thank you very much! I am often fooled by the videos thinking that it would be so easy to do the project or make the video. But that really is far from the truth. Even for artists... most youtube artists/crochet/knitters have a veneer of easiness, comfort, and even luxury. This (from my own experiance) is far from the truth. It is almost a farce... thank you so much for being so transparent and truthful. We need more creators like you.

💯 us creators sometimes make it look easy. I always disclose how long it took me or if I don’t finish I just cut the video In two parts. My subscribers like to work with me ❤ I guess we also need to think of it as book club finish at X amount of rows and we will meet up next week. Also, I understand wanting to crochet faster, but the unique thing about crochet is it can’t be replicated by machine so the time it takes to crochet is more valuable. Also, I believe momentum and repetition will be the best way to get faster.

That was a good visual and description of what it takes to do what you do , I don't want to be a utuber, but appreciate you all that do it for us out here, As far as wanting to crochet faster I think non utubers shud maybe not have so many WIPS maybe limit one self say monthly, so to get more completed projects done , too many WIPS can overwhelm, Thank You for this info and video 📷 maybe a blooper video somettimes wud b fun , I don't mind swearing lol btw like listening to you talk great video !!

This is great info, I struggled with a lot of those points. You tube does take time. I have like 10-15 items on hooks. I love your content, I have followed for years and emailed you questions. Thank you for your help.

that is FASCINATING!!!!! i definitely do NOT put that much thought into my schedule 😅 luckily i switch between crochet and other crafts so i can make some shorter videos quickly to fill the gaps. However i dont really do any project focused videos right now, mainly tutorials or craft vlogs (which i just added recently) where i dont feel pressured to finish a project and often just jump around between a bunch of them!

I feel you when it comes to medical conditions getting away. I think that's true which is do the speed you can do. I've tried the tips speed crochet....the quality of my work looked rushed and garbage .

YES!! I am a creator and while I would love to get multiple videos out weekly but the reality is that our home life is so different from each other. I do not work out of the home, but I do still "work". I am a homeschool momma of two teens, a caretaker to my mother-in-law who has altzhemiers and we own a small business.... There are many out there that their channel is their work, and that is okay too. As a viewer though it can easy to forget that for the large majority of us, this is not our main source of income or the only thing fighting for our time. I think it is also easy to over look the time many of us put into our editing. Editing can take me hours/days depending on the amount of footage.... and what gets put out may be under 30 mins, but all of that takes time from our family and other daily things and more importantly the actual time we get to craft. It can cause really create a sense of comparison and it is something that creators have to keep in check because it can steal the joy. In the beginning I allowed it to take my joy.... I was getting stressed, but then I realized there is no point. I can only do, what I can do. I am here for community and the joy, the little bit of adense is just a bonus... seeing those thumbs up and watch ours are motivators and those comments are like virtual hugs that feed our soul and give us the burst of energy to carry on! So thank you for all those leave all those things for channels and thank you for creating this video, bringing the reality of YT to the community. Hugs and Yarnie Fluff!

I think you show a great balance of competence & mistakes. It's realistic while still showing that you are talented at crochet, & have a lot to teach us. It's also worth mentioning that RUclipsrs who also have a crochet business are very likely to crochet faster than average because they do it all day! And the motivation to finish a piece so that you can keep to your schedule must help as well. I know that not being accountable makes it very easy for me to put down my work!

  • @TheIlwin

Well, I would say that you particularly are one of those who show more of the process, not just the shorts so popular today (I hate shorts and reels) that goes from ball of yarn - bam! - to the finished project (yes sthese shorts are extreme but still), like you show your fails and mistakes too. And usually mention how long it took you to get to go on with the project etc.
And it's of course one of the reasons why I like to watch your videos (usually while working on something myself, not gonna lie)
But I guess people are so used to see the condensed version of a process (that is sort of required in this "fast age" we have nowadays to be fair), and so people don't think much about what actually is behind all this.
Can't do any harm to make a little reminder like this from time to time! :)

I really want to have a crocjet business. Sadly, i am also disabled and work too slow to really make that a reality. For the past couple of weeks, i have been working on and off on a t-shirt for a little girl. I am 3/4 of the way done. It is worked in trebles and doubles. I wish more people realized how slow projects are for me.

Some influencer do challenges like the 6 day star blanket and they crochet 8 to 10 houres a day. The most people watching chrochet videos have a full time job. Like me, I don't have the time to do challenges.

I never got into crochet for anyone but myself so speed is not for me. I make what I want and give it to my family and friends. Sometimes I will take commission from my family and then I tell them I will gift it for the next year’s holiday season if I can get it out faster I will give it earlier 😂😂😂 that discourages a lot of the asks fors 😂. I never had a “stash” just shopped for the projects. With the cost of yarn exploding I have a stash now so I can lock in lower prices on yarn. All these yarn wall displays makes it seem that you have to have all this expensive stuff
