- Watch this before you install a Click Clack waste for your bathroom sink
In this video ill be showing you how to install a click clack waste for your bathroom sink, explaining why your waste may stop working and what I think is the best waste to install today
Showing you how to install the click clack and what the parts are for.
This Click Clack waste is made by Mcalpine. A multi death slotted centre pin basin waste
Thanks for the video, managed to fit the new McAlpine waste, hardest part was cleaning up the silicone armageddon left by the previous waste!
The instructions say to use a large flathead screwdriver or socket. I used the largest I have (it was my grandads) which was big enough to just about turn the nut to start to get tight.. then it slipped.
I had to use a 15mm socket and small extension in the end.. lovely and tight now! 😊 I also had to replace the McAlpine bottle trap with an adjustable one as the new waste didn't protrude as much as the old one!
Glad the video help, WD40 breaks down silicone, makes it easier to remove
I had been trying to find a video on this particular "mushroom" type as the house U bought had three of the things all with the same problem - going to look to replace them now. Thanks for this Dean.
Glad I help, good luck
Thanks Dean. This video was clear and very helpfull. I've subscribed. I hope you reach your target 1000 subscribers soon.
thank you. probable would help if i relise new videos, i will soon
McAlpine should have sent you a few bob for this excallent promotion of their kit. Good job 👍
Thank you hehe
Great job, worked very well even if i had a different type of sink.
Thx thx from the Netherlands
What do you think of the Hansgrohe version?
The Hansgrohe version is kinda better, only by the quality of the chrome, but if you are not going to see it, why bother, just go for the cheaper one. works just as well
After watching this, I feel confident enough to have a go. I'll call you when it goes wrong.
lol I am sure you won't go wrong but I'm here if you need me
I did a dry fit but it is not holding water , there is no leak under the basin.
Excellent demonstration, instead of silicone can I use plumbersmate putty?
Hi, you can use plumbers mate but iv had troubles with it in the passed, I will now remove plumbers mate and use silicone as silicone always works for me
The click clack you took out had an overflow slot in it, and the new one installed didn’t. So if the basin fills up and overflows where does the water go ?
HI, yes you are right, the old waste had a slot as it was a solid unit that needs to be inserted through the basin. the new waste clamped on the top and bottom of the basin. no need for a slot as the over flow was not obstructed within the basin.
Thank you for watching
I have a quick question:
Can you swap one of these pop-up drains for a traditional drains.
Hi, yes you can, kinda. any waste from the click clack to the pop-up waste have the same diameter. the difference with the traditional waste is the lever that fits in the back of the tap. No hole in the tap means you cannot fit a traditional waste, unless you change the tap as well.

Thanks for the advice. Brilliant video.

That sink has an overflow, is that slotted?
yes and know, its a unit that will work with both slotted and unslotted
How does that work?
@@theyellow8834 because it isn't one piece that slides into the basin, its two pieces that bolt on, that's why it works for both types of basin
The fitting is sold as a dry-fit, but a bit of sealant never hurt anyone I guess :)
in my years of plumbing I have learnt, never trust rubber seals, that also applies to plastic piping
Brilliant Thank you
you're welcome
Thanks Subscribed 😊
thank you
Dean what unit MacAlpine pop up are you using in video please 🙏
Hi
I believe it is just call a click clack basin waste, I can not remember the exact name of the unit.
Sorry
Thanks for watching
A bit late for you David, but for anyone else looking it's a McAlpine CWP60-SS (visible on the box at 2:43).
On the back of this video I'll be picking one up from Screwfix (714HR) this weekend to replace a seized pop up on my parent's basin.
Thanks for the review/showcase Dean 👍👍
Handy to know

thanks for the hearts 😁
Why don't you use plumbers mait instead of silicone
plumbers mate is rubbish, if any part is wet, then plumbers mate will not stick, plus its messy, silicone is clean and quick
