Alien isolation is a real pulse pounding experience, even when the xenomorph isn't hunting you, there's still the working joes to worry about, as well as hostile survivors.
What makes Evil Within extra hard is that it is filled with so many different traps. Pretty much every room and corridor had at least one trap. Even the boss fights were an elaborate type of trap.
i dunno, for me completing AKUMU was more time consuming rather than being hard and im not a pro player, you just need to manage your recources well (getting as much stealth kills as possible, exploring every part of the map) and dont waste points on useless upgrades PS i did it with a handicap of 30 fps on PC
I played the Evil Within around the time it first came out. Unded up losing interest in it because I could never get past the Laura boss fight at the end of chapter 5. I picked up the game again this year and beat Laura on the first try. -_-
I've been playing horror games a long time, Evil Within 1 is maybe only 1 of 5 games I've played where I constantly felt uneasy the entire game, definitely a good horror game.
Five Nights at Freddy's 4 is really hard because there's no camera to detect them, and you actually have to listen carefully where the nightmare animotronics strikes.
Silent Hill 3's Extreme X difficulty (the 10th and final level) is so hard, every enemy and boss will effectively one-shot you even with the optional body armour equipped. You need to play perfect to beat it.
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! Back in the 90s, there was a game called 'Alone in the dark' (published by Infograms).. I remember that game being the hardest to beat. 🤣
@jinratgeist lol awesome, i make sure i play this every year, I still can't believe we haven't gotten Bloodborne 2. 8 years later and we still waiting whew.
It's silly, but I remember myself as a kid playing the first Alone on the Dark.. Those frigging 4 polygons, so frigging scaring 😅 Anyway, I loved Silent Hill 3
Maximo Ghost & Glory...Imagine Super Ghost & Goblins cranked up to 11. Plus what also makes this game difficult is if you die too many times it'll be too expensive for Death to revive you.
I love the presentation of alan wake 2 so much, its graphics really helps to feel the horror. Most horrible experince for me is actually alien isolatiin (AI is so smart, its Unbelievable)
4. This game is also VERY fond of cheap instakills. The battles against Laura is among the biggest offender. ALL OF HER ATTACKS ARE INSTAKILLS AND THERE'S NO WAY TO BREAK OUT IF YOU GET CAUGHT!
I have an interesting Honorable Mention: Miasmata (I think I spelled it right ^_^0) You're a scientist who was banished to a deserted island after getting infected with some unknown plague. Your goal is to collect specific plants to make medicine to both heal you and to make a vaccine to cure said plague. Here's the ticker: You can only hold two plants at a time, and if you run or fall down a hill, you get a fever, which if left untreated you die. Seems simple enough, but when you're lost and trying to find shelter for the night, or are in the middle of a VERY dark forest, you get a heartbeat sound which means The Beast is nearby. You can hide from it, but it's Game Over if it kills you. There's a lot of interesting lore and a mapping system to get around the island, and it's kinda fun to test the different plants for the cure, or even a booster to help you run without getting a fever and a few other things.
Mmmmh. I dunno, Silent Hill 3 felt like the easier of the original trilogy. I would have put the OG Silent Hill there instead, the resources where much more limited, and the tension higher.
In Outlast 2, you have to beat the hardest difficulty, Insane where in you only have one life and you start over from the top if you die. To make things even worse, if you want to beat it 100%, you have to finish Insane mode where you can only use ONE battery throughout the entire game.
For Silent Hill 3- can you really judge the game on what are optional difficulty elements? In terms of its puzzles, on lower puzzle difficulty levels they're not really any more obtuse than other entries in the series. In terms of general game difficulty, if you're being objective it should be whether the game itself is genuinely difficult / hard regardless of whether you know the solutions to puzzles or not. Getting S+ rankings on the Resident Evil 2 or 4 remakes, for example, is a challenge because you're playing on the highest difficulty setting and starting from a fresh save, forcing yourself to adhere to strict time / save limits, and occasionally praying to RN Jesus for your last round to cause a critical headshot. But that doesn't mean the game itself is actually especially difficult, even on those higher difficulty levels.
Hey, WatchMojo. Can you please do a list of the Top 30 Video Games with the Best Waifus? Here's a couple of examples they should be mentioned. Examples: Azur Lane Mortal Kombat franchise Final Fantasy franchise Danganronpa franchise Tekken franchise Honkai franchise League of Legends SoulCalibur franchise Dead or Alive franchise Resident Evil franchise Dynasty Warriors franchise Persona franchise Street Fighter franchise Overwatch HuniePop Guilty Gear franchise Senran Kagura franchise The King of Fighters/Fatal Fury franchise Samurai Shodown franchise Tales franchise Onechanbara franchise Toudou Project franchise BlazBlue franchise Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise Asuka 120% franchise Tsukihime/Melty Blood franchise Arcana Heart franchise Variable Geo franchise Please do this list, WatchMojo.
I feel ‘Outlast 2’ should be here. Enemies are faster and quicker with their attacks, a stamina system, manual healing from collecting bandages, and much of the environments make it harder to thwart enemies. If all that doesn’t sound punishing enough, the game’s highest difficulty; Insane mode, is permadeath
I know I’m gonna get blasted to high hell after saying this, but I never really cared for the alien and evil within games, just not my style imho. Same with the amnesia series. If I offended anyone I’m sorry, but that’s just the honest truth
I have finished The Evil Within at least 3 times and I finished it on survival difficulty each time. I can assure you it wasn't hard. Maybe the DLC where you play as Kidman could be counted as hard but that's nowhere near the top 10 hardest horror video games.
@@remidogger5472 nah I'm at the part where I was blown to the morgue and have to sneak past the big naked guy to get to the stairs to go back up I always get stuck and don't know where the stairs are and no batteries left lol
Ok but where is the last of us ? Any difficulty over survivor mode will easily give you an anxiety attack. I’d say that game should’ve made the list just because of that basement in Pittsburgh hotel.
Alien isolation and the evil within are two pretty toughgames but I havebeat them..Friday the 13th on NES is ROUGHHHHH.. still to thisday I have NOT beat it!

Alien, isolation is my favorite game for survival😂 4:56
Yeah, long as you don’t play any pranks on it, you may not make it angry the alien😂
@@bertcarroll1243 where is fatal frame PS2 ?
Uh, try Outlast?
Bloodborne 100%. Very challenging game.
I want an Evil Within 3 so badly. I love the first two.
same :)
Same for me as well 👍🏻👍🏻
Same
So am I
First one tbh was shit
The evil within is so underrated in my opinion we need a 3rd game asap
Nah 2 is fine
The original was frustrating but the 2nd one was masterpiece!
Bruh, it's been 6 years since the release of the second evil within, don't get your hope high...
The thing I love about The Evil Within is that it very much feels like the love child of both Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
Agree on The Evil Within.
i dunno, for me completing AKUMU was more time consuming rather than being hard and im not a pro player, you just need to manage your recources well (getting as much stealth kills as possible, exploring every part of the map) and dont waste points on useless upgrades
PS i did it with a handicap of 30 fps on PC
@@panjurek3305flash bolts were a lifesaver in AKUMU
Condemned criminal origins: the dark environment, enemies that set up ambushed, and the hand to hand combat really make things spooky
Bloodborne was challenging but fair. I certainly worked hard for that Platinum. Wish they would make a sequel.
Outlast 1 and 2 had some difficult moments as well. Its mainly because of some the enemies in the game.
Of the ones on the list I've played, definitely Alien: Isolation.
Also, afflicted, not inflicted.
Surprised Dead Space wasn't on here. Not only are the necromorphs really annoying to kill but you don't have much ammo to work with either.
Fax
Silent Hill 3 and Alien Isolation and The Evil Within and Resident Evil and Bloodborne gave me the greatest challenge on the PS3 or on the switch
Beat The Evil Within last week. Can’t wait to start 2
Your in for a treat
Here's a little tip...make sure to check EVERY house...
Alien:Isolation is a Masterpiece !! A MUST PLAY game !! and the cherry on top, it goes on sale ALL the time for $10. Can't beat that !!
I want evil within 3 asap 🔥
I played the Evil Within around the time it first came out. Unded up losing interest in it because I could never get past the Laura boss fight at the end of chapter 5. I picked up the game again this year and beat Laura on the first try. -_-

Love the horror genre
This gotta be one of the most busted watchmojo lists to date. Did love the video though haha thumbs up
In Alien Isolation, I got more scares from the androids than the xenomorph! 😅
That one got me as well. I been thinking about getting it again for the Nintendo switch as well.
Thank you for putting Eternal Darkness on this list!!
Resident evil Zero is the hardest in the franchise.
No inventory boxes and tank control makes it hard to survive.
Dead space and evil within other than BB
Five Nights at Freddy's 4 is really hard because there's no camera to detect them, and you actually have to listen carefully where the nightmare animotronics strikes.
Silent Hill 3's Extreme X difficulty (the 10th and final level) is so hard, every enemy and boss will effectively one-shot you even with the optional body armour equipped. You need to play perfect to beat it.
The suffering on the OG Xbox is one of my favorite horror games of all time
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! Back in the 90s, there was a game called 'Alone in the dark' (published by Infograms).. I remember that game being the hardest to beat. 🤣
Bloodborne is a masterpiece
Dude, you took the words out my mouth as I was watching the video. 😂
@jinratgeist lol awesome, i make sure i play this every year, I still can't believe we haven't gotten Bloodborne 2. 8 years later and we still waiting whew.
Evil Within isn't hard, since you have an eye detection for enemies, it kinda takes out the element of surprise for an horror game.
😱These games are seriously tough but thrilling!🎮
Are we just going to ignore the fact that Visage is scariest and most difficult game ever made?!?
Thank you was looking for this. Best horror game of ALL time hands down
It's silly, but I remember myself as a kid playing the first Alone on the Dark.. Those frigging 4 polygons, so frigging scaring 😅
Anyway, I loved Silent Hill 3
Maximo Ghost & Glory...Imagine Super Ghost & Goblins cranked up to 11. Plus what also makes this game difficult is if you die too many times it'll be too expensive for Death to revive you.
THE EVIL WITHIN WAS SO GOOD!
I love the presentation of alan wake 2 so much, its graphics really helps to feel the horror.
Most horrible experince for me is actually alien isolatiin (AI is so smart, its Unbelievable)
The evil within was an amazing experience
Resident Evil 1...only because the controls make playing that a nightmare.
i often felt physically tired after playing the evil within xD
I want a evil within 3 I didn't like the first one but I loved evil within 2
I am currently playing World of Horror. It's BRUTAL.
4. This game is also VERY fond of cheap instakills. The battles against Laura is among the biggest offender. ALL OF HER ATTACKS ARE INSTAKILLS AND THERE'S NO WAY TO BREAK OUT IF YOU GET CAUGHT!
Ghost & Goblins...This NES game probably had a lot player throwing their controllers against the wall.
Funny, I don’t recall any of the Evil Within games being that difficult.
I have an interesting Honorable Mention: Miasmata (I think I spelled it right ^_^0)

Resident Evil 4 was the only horror game I played. Now I plan on buying Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water, but I don't know if it's difficult or not.
Silent Hill 4 on normal difficulty is like Silent Hill 3 on the hardest
Mmmmh. I dunno, Silent Hill 3 felt like the easier of the original trilogy. I would have put the OG Silent Hill there instead, the resources where much more limited, and the tension higher.
Weird that i didn't see fear & hunger, that game should be at least in honorable mention since even taking stuff can kill you instantly
What about Dead Space (2008)?
The thing from the thumbnail looks like Belos. 😂
Siren in my opinion should be in the list.
No darkwood? That game is truly a terrifying and stressful horror survival game.
Let me tell you all something.THE EVIL WITHIN 2 IS FUCKIN FANTASTIC!!!! EVERYONE should play it.Even the first one as well
I love Silent Hill 3 so much. First game to actually scare me when I was younger.
Blumhouse should make a movie based off any of them
If Brynhildr in the Darkness (2014) become a Horror Video Game; then it will definitely become the Hardest Horror Video Game to play with.

I never finished the first evil within... it defeated me I quit
CRAZY TO SEE NO RESIDENT EVIL 7 BUT GLAD TO SEE AKA MANTO
Silent Hill 3 graphics were really ahead of time
They look amazing in HD! If someone had told me they were PS3 graphics, I'd have probably believed them!
Glad to see Pathologic here :)
I can't believe that Outlast didn't get at least a mention
Outlast should have been in here somewhere
Hope for a third Alan Wake game
Prince of persia should be a horror fantasy advanture game they should try that
For me Silent Hill 4 was the most tedious.
The suffering would make my list.
Evil Within is awesome! Play it and its sequel! Bloodborne is Legendary!
@10:51 You just need Stephano 😂
No resident evil 0? That is by far the hardest resident evils
I agree
YES THE EVIL WITHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m surprised that Code veronica didn’t make the list

Hey watchmojo. U should do a video on the top 20 animation/cartoons that are no longer aired.(2009 ben10 4 example)
Should've added Five Nights at Freddy's, Poppy Playtime, and Choo Choo Charles to this list.
I have finished The Evil Within at least 3 times and I finished it on survival difficulty each time. I can assure you it wasn't hard. Maybe the DLC where you play as Kidman could be counted as hard but that's nowhere near the top 10 hardest horror video games.
The hardest horror video game I've played would probably be Forbidden Siren. I would even argue that I found silent hill 4 harder than 3.
outlast for sure should be here , and i do think resident evil 1 or 7 too
SH 3 wasn't that hard in my opinion
Now outlast 1.. I'm still stuck hiding from the naked big dude lol
The part where you have to hide in the lockers? That was soooo frustrating. But it is worth it to try and continue
@@remidogger5472 nah I'm at the part where I was blown to the morgue and have to sneak past the big naked guy to get to the stairs to go back up
I always get stuck and don't know where the stairs are and no batteries left lol
Fear and hunger would’ve decimated this list
What about the Dead Space series?
Yes there is something you missed for good - Darkwood
I think it should be Fear and Hunger on the first spot due to its difficulty
Call Of Cthulhu Dark Corners Of The Earth should be on this list.
I LIKED THE FIRST 2 EVIL WITHIN GAMES!
Can you do top 10 episodes of season 1 of the Sonic Boom TV Show?
Can you do top 10 episodes of season 1 of Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures?
Is bloodborne consider horror?
Yup. Aesthetics, Atmosphere, Setting, Theme, Monster Designs, Lovecraftian Stuff... all hallmarks of the horror genre.
@@jinratgeist should've been 1#
How could it NOT be considered horror? What would you consider it?
Transformers & Godzilla top 10 pls
I played alien isolation on the hardest difficulty without the sensor at all on my first play through i actually live streamed it too
Bloodborne was intense 😅
Ok but where is the last of us ? Any difficulty over survivor mode will easily give you an anxiety attack. I’d say that game should’ve made the list just because of that basement in Pittsburgh hotel.
