WW2 - Goliath

- An unmanned miniature tank, the Goliath carried a 2OOlb explosive charge for the destruction of bunkers and armoured vehicles by remote control. It was towed to the area of action on a small trailer.
Early models of the Goliath were powered by two battery-driven auto starter motors, one motor to each track. Later models were powered by a Zundapp two-stroke engine.
The Goliath had a maximum speed of 12 mph and a range of 650 yards. It was guided and detonated by trailing wires, the controller sending electrical signals to vary the speed of each track and so steer the weapon.
The Goliath was not a success, primarily because its tracks were vulnerable to small arms fire. It was used for the most part on the Eastern front, but a few were deployed at Anzio in Italy and in France during the Battle of Normandy.
i looked these up because i saw them on the company of heros game
but wow i had no idea that the germans were that advance back then
Despite how advanced they were. They sure used Horses a lot
@@guts-141 in the first stage of war ...but less in late war
@@guts-141 They combined horses, trucks and tanks for the Blitzkrieg. Of course, we saw fewer horses during mid-WW2 and late-WW2 period
I Sache this up cuz i used them on road to valor
This is literally the ancestor of the RC-XD. Given the success of the RC-XD, I’d say the Goliath was a huge success, too.
Imagine that at the time... it seemed like something from another world!
The first Terminator in a War.
Over 70 years ago... That's fantastic
company of heroes
It was also used during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. The Germans used the Goliat to clear the barriades, resistance points and fortified buildings.
unbeleaveble omg those germans were really smart!
I want one. Put some blades at the bottom and that's my new lawnmower!
Plus, my buddy is wheelchair bound and he needs a kick ass new chassis!
Hi
Man the germans are brillient people. I wouldnt want them to win WW2 but i like many other think they were the best army in the war- in tactics and quality of men and equipment.
They werent
@@harmdallmeyer6449 I mean it is actually found by the germans not made
@@moonsvc?
"Man the germans are brillient people. I wouldnt want them to win WW2"
Kind of a contradiction there.
Let's let the bad and incompetents win the war. Oh wait they did, that's why the West sucks now.
@@Bahamut998 if you are bad and incompetent you don't win a war..If you're incompetent you declare war on the whole world without a chance of winning
Now that's alot of damage
kind of ironic the British dude says the Goliath was not a success right after it blew up a tank
Eie . !
I know what I want for Christmas!
0:35 ahahahahhahaha camuflage fail
The first ever RC/XD bomb I presume?
yeah
there were some others before it, but they were before ww2 so they did not perform very well
why don't we talk about such things?
amazing technology ww2
It wouldn't work as lawnmower, but tracked wheelchairs are possible. Somwhere on Google Images you can find man riding it.
Probably. It would definitely murder the plumbing.
As for the wheelchair, my buddy would appreciate it! (Now he'll need cattle catcher mounted to it.)
wow ww2 just wow
No it is Nazi tech
And yeah copy right from fucking allied
This is a training video; not scenes of real action. The Goliath was not a success; it had to be guided by means of a wire that was easily cut by artillery and could be pulled out of the machine by an infantry man
yeah it did have light armor but watch out for causalities cuz these small drone have explosive on it
i find it sweet :D
The narrator sounds like the narrator of tugs 1980s tv show
Looks like a smaller version of the Mark IV
Yea the goliuath idea was french, you are right
Nope.it was said in google a german engineer run away from NAZI germany and live in france and give french gorv this prohect
0:35 Camoflage fail.

They also used these at the battle of the warsaw rising.
@idonahari1
I think it was originally a french invention, but then the german used it after conquering France.

@Kamfrenchie I see, thank you for the info :)
ME TOO !!
great idea put blades on a 200pound bomb with wheels i am sure no one will die from it:P
From where is this video taken?

Panzer Faust and MG 42 Equipted , Oh My Goodness . !
Because "Goliath" sounds more terryfying than "David".
My cats name is goliath
I have other uses for the TNT. Just give me the chassis.
