Some good players in this league . Fevers retiring president just said CC asked for visiting teams to get a bonus from increased gate receipts at the venues. That's very savvy and generous consideration of all in the player community from a kid they blatantly want to hurt . Makes no sense, but one hopes the players in this league become aware of this and the sort of human being CC is . Her parents did a bloody fantastic job imo . She really is the complete package

Please. The whole purpose for the WNBA is the ideology. Why would anyone, especially savvy business people who have a plethora of successful businesses like the NBA and WNBA owners keep a league going for 28 years unless it had another purpose, activism. It is not a business or even a sport it has failed at both but it exists to push and ideology and it's agenda and propaganda. That is why so many of their decisions seem so upside down to the normal viewer not understanding the league's real purpose. Clark with her popularity and corporate endorsements would organically change the culture of the league and so you see them resisting that change even being willing to sink the ship to keep the change from happening. It makes no sense unless one understands the actual purpose of the league. Trust me the European leagues are just a woke and play just as dirty as the WNBA. All of their actions are to tag her and her fans as R'ists as a tactic to silence them and marginalize them.

During the interview with the ex Fever president, she mentioned that incoming rookies are now saying that they will get their lawyers to look into the contract before signing and the WNBA doesn't like it. Because of what's happened to her, lawyers will probably check the contract in terms of injuries, the responsibilities and what would make the WNBA accountable. They could also check into the officiating by the refs making them accountable through reviews, etc. It's not just CC bringing fans in. Players like Paige Bueckers, Juju Watkins are bringing in new fans too. Cameron Brink will usher in new/er fans where she's probably (or would have been) the real competition to A'ja. These players and organisations should realise to make more money, there need to be competition.

Democratic party was threatened to be run to the ground if they didn't select Kamala with NO CONCERN for actually willing and the same group is willing for the WNBA to COLLAPSE rather than have someone of the out group receive ANY positive promotion.

At least Gabby seems to understand the economics of being paid. She stated several times the hard truth about personal choices, contract law including CBAs, which play major roles in her, or anybody's, annual income. This is what is often lost in most discussions about "equal pay". I have owned and managed small businesses that have employees usually under 20, but a few have been larger with more than 20 employees, and there have been times when an employee asks for a raise. My question for the employee has always been what plan do you have for your labor to increase revenue to cover ALL the additional costs associated with your new raise, not just you're personal increase? Because in order for me to give YOU a raise, I have to take revenue coming in from something or someone else to cover all those higher costs of YOUR raise? Who is responsible for increasing the revenue to cover your raise? Of course I rarely get an intelligent, reasoned, economic based answer, only that they NEED (want) more $$$, not understanding that we ALL need or want more $$$ in our own pockets, but it has to come from somewhere or someone. Gabby wants the WNBA to pay more, but I've read articles backed up by financial sources that state that even with all the increases in revenue this year for the WNBA due to the CC effect, its STILL GOING TO LOSE $$$. So again, for Gabby and all the WNBA players, where's the $$$ going to come from to cover the costs to justify an increase in player salaries, especially when their BEHAVIORS on and off the court are driving PAYING CUSTOMERS away, hindering sponsorships and corporate/media investment? Right now the ONLY DRAW is CC so who should get the INCREASE in Salary from the W? Everyone? Or only the PLAYER who is ACTUALLY increasing REVENUE? Even media deals are going to be limited since without CC the ratings TANK.

    3. A dog whistle shrill "welcome her to the 'real big girls' league" message was broadcast. A full assault on and off the court waged throughout the season.
    4. St.CC22 was underrated, underestimated, and undervalued.
5 .St.CC22 is unquestionably an amazing athlete to watch but her strength of character in the face of expectations and hate, is exemplary, a role model for All.

If they want to really keep it 100, speak out about coaches and administrators making way more money than the highest paid players in an unprofitable league. Top player is paid 250K, worst coach (Sides) paid 500K. The argument for W coaches is that they have to keep up with NCAA salaries and googling that was eye opening. I didn't know any NCAA womens coach outside the top 10 (Geno, Liz, Mulkey). The womens coach of my state school makes $1 mil/yr and she was/is a nobody, came from a smaller school and achieved nothing. I wonder why my tax dollars are going toward her salary that gets less views than the WNBA. The W players have no leverage because their comparison are NCAA players, where very few get big NIL money. The women are still in their 'plumbers' era, but unlike the men, the coaches never made more than the players. Phil Jackson with 4 titles at the time had to fight to get a pay bump with a GM that said organizations win chips.

When tuitions go up at all these schools and property tax multipliers, it's not purely to pay professors, the accounting shuffle of funds go to other departments including non revenue generating athletics, this is how the tax payer gets hit. Robin, This is a much more involved conversation and deserves a lengthy article from you.
The WNBA has a critical lack of leadership at the top and the difference between Adam Silver and
    Cathy Engelbert is stark.
Engelbert is a leader lacking vision and is out of touch with the day to day operations and messaging of the WNBA. This video is a prime example that WNBA players don’t see Engelbert as credible.
Engelbert’s failure to be forthcoming regarding the ugly side of fans and media consistently forces the WNBPA to issue to statements condemning certain situations.
(And I do believe Christine Brennan was very unprofessional and deserved the statement issued by the WNBPA).
Engelbert has failed to properly address the quality of referees.
Engelbert failed work with the USA Basketball Women's selection committee behind the scenes to ensure Clark and Reese were on that team.
If Clark and Reese are the future of the WNBA, any leader with vision would have ensured Jen Rizzoti reserved 2 spots on that team to show where the league is going. This was a MAJOR leadership fail. Playing time is not a factor for such an honor and a strong leader would have never allowed that messaging to come out.
Do you think Adam Silver would allow the Olympic committee to be so short sighted and miss out on such a strategic marketing opportunity? HELL NO.
NBA has a 50% ownership of the WNBA and with that much of an investment it’s time Adam Silver is far more directly involved with the direction of the WNBA. I could on and give you countless examples of Engelbert’s failure as a leader, but I’m sure you are aware of them.

She's right, while being wrong. They signed the collective barging contract. Stop crying about the stipulations in it.
The WNBA and various other International teams have different obstacle to contend with, and they are not at all the same. To just suggest it's women's basketball is misleading.

I don’t think she’s crying about it she’s just saying she has an option to make more money so why not take it. It’s business like she said. But she’s also putting the success of the business entirely on the management and commissioner and missing how much the players impact their own salaries and fate of the business with their media presence

Average WNBA salary for playing a game 4 months of the year: $115,000 per year

@@WH0oo...In theory maybe. (Congratulations on being born yesterday, by the way.)
In reality, during the Long Economic Boom (1945-1980) CEO wages were about 40X what the workers' wages were and whenever CEO wages rose so did worker wages. Then Milton Friedman instituted his "Trickle Down Economics" boondoggle and _suddenly_ the workers' wages remained static while the CEOs' salaries continued to blow up, to the point that the CEOs' now make *350X* what the workers do.

she didn't complain, she said it is what it is, she's getting better pay elsewhere and go there. WNBA isn't profitable, and now that they have a chance to make it, they hate the single player drawing ALL the viewers, and want her and her fans gone... they really don't want to get higher salaries. Gabby came to Storm because they asked if she could help them and she likes playing with them, she's leaving again because it was a 7 day contract. And travel to greener pastures... BTW .. she does get her 700k in Fenerbahçe i will assume, just tough luck WNBA has a cap that limits them to max contracts up to 300k, and rookie deals up to 70k. If you can choose, you would go where the pay is better too.. we all would.

@@robertdelange2071 no, she does not make $700k in Turkish league. You would have to go to China or Russia for that kind of money. Nobody knew who she was till the Olympics. The big $$$ overseas are reserved for big names from USA.

People keep talking about the league revenue, which yes, is low, but why is that?
How can the country which has dominated the gold at the last 8 Olympics in basketball be so far behind the rest of the world?
It’s not the players, we obviously have the best so how come a rookie like Cardosa get a million dollars to play in China? Williams I’m sure makes more in Turkey. Hell, DT was offered twice her W salary when her season was done overseas to not play in the W.
So why is women’s basketball so popular that those kinds of salaries be paid around the globe?
That’s the question we need to be asking. We’re doing something wrong over here.

    • @CodyCha
      @CodyCha 10 часов назад

Women's basketball is not popular, evident by ticket sales and TV rating. In other words, nobody watched WNBA or bought tickets. That only changed this year with Caitlin Clark. Winning gold medal or being dominate does not equal to being popular. Simone Biles is the most dominate gymnast ever. Do you know anyone who watch her compete outside of the Olympics?

Yeah but in Europe and elsewhere basket is popular. Their professional leagues seasons are longer than ours. Why is that?

    • @CodyCha
      @CodyCha 8 часов назад

@@Barto-p4k Turkish league plays only 28 games (vs 40 in WNBA). I think United States just have far more options for people to consume. The women's basketball league in Turkey is the 3rd most popular sports in the country behind the soccer league and men's bball. In the US, WNBA would not even make the Top 10 if you include college sports.
The main reason is men watch sports, not women. But 90% WNBA players are people who aren't into men 😂and openly profess to hate men, fair skinned folk, and the country.
