Filipinos would definitely be Indonesia's biggest nightmare. Indonesia fights to preserve their native cultures and languages, even changed their name from Dutch East Indies to Indonesia
While Philippines kept their colonial names and embraces the colonial american and latin cultures than their own native cultures.

This, I love how nobody but the video poster commented. The problem arises when they marry white people mostly or purely because of their race. Add to that, Filipinos always assume that foreigners, especially white people, are always rich. It's really sad how much we devalue our own culture instead of propping it up, innovating... People never cease to amaze me how proud they are about their Spanish last names as well but if you just Google for 1 second, you will find out that Spain introduced spanish last names to make it easier for them to collect tax from us.

For me, I believe that we should maintain a balance. Let's be real. In this day and age, being familiar with some ways of the colonizer is a benefit to us.
i used to hate Spanish and American colonizers and their impact. However, as I studied history, I found out that many colonized people around the world adopted SOME aspects of the colonizers - like the language, education, technology, medicine and even cusine - which are all very essential for survival. Our ancestors did it to survive; should we blame them? No.
So for me, it's a balance. I do not worship the colonizers or the West. but I adopt some things from them that I know will benefit me.
As for preserving indigenous/local heritage, I make sure to pass on the native tongue to the next generation. Also, teaching and preserving local customs, cultural practices, songs, dance, cuisine and other stuff that are exclusive to the Philippines.

Nice video bro, colonial mentality has a greater negative impact on Filipinos attitude and beliefs also. Some Filipinos tend to have bad, lazy bully, rude and sarcastic attitude mainly due to being excessively influenced by black and white stereotype culture. Whitening of the skin comes from the excessive fandom of Korean culture. Being judgemental and degrading others comes from the Spaniards that is pass down to the Filipinos. We should never forget our own nationality and not let it die and bury it.

Ganun.

Well, I think instead of repelling it. We should embrace it. Not that replacing our entire identity, but copy some aspects of what we think is good and beneficial to our culture.
Our culture is largely based on foreign influence even without colonization. We have influence from Indians, Chinese, Arabs, Japanese and austronesians.
About the products, I think instead of discrediting others. We should look at this in a global scale. Some countries have a highly developed business and marketing model that made their product appealing to international market. It's not just Philippines who suffers from this, but it doesn't excuse us though. Maybe we should improve our marketing strategies to gather customers.
I agree with you on that stupid beliefs that being able to speak fluent English and being white makes you a better person. But because of that whitening products demand exist allowing for some jobs to be created.
I don't want you to solve a misconception by creating another misconception. Because lahat ay may pinaghuhugutan. Every issues has their own root. And I don't call it colonial mentality anymore... Because it evolved to something even worse... Just kidding...
Good content though. And I hope you would convince some people into loving our culture instead of patronizing foreign things. I hope you would forgive my not so good English because reading mtl novels screwed it up.
But regardless I still love my hamburger.

Many aspects of the Filipino culture are barbaric. Like the mano po "respect sign", utang na loob nonsense, albularyios, religion fanaticism etc. These things should be thrown in the garbage and replaced by modern and moral thinking/values. What they call "colonial mentality" is often a great thing. It means that Filipinos want to evolve. What's wrong with that?
