Great video! Completely agreed and I know I'm almost a year late to the party but hearing recently that season 2 is still being made is amazing! Very underrated series
Telltale has so much unused content telling a lot about the changes that go through and it's a really good insight to the problems that really went on behind the scenes There's a relatively small RUclipsr named 'Incoldblood' who went through a lot of early telltale stuff in great detail in a way no one else has. I wish there was a bigger effort into exploring the beta, development process, and unused content of telltale games. But there is a lot on his channel for anyone curious
TWAU is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. i’m extremely picky when it comes to video games and i just honestly love everything about TWAU. when i heard the sequel got cancelled a lil part of my heart definitely broke. i’m so glad to hear that they’re back working on it again and i really hope that they can even do half as good as the original. trying not to get my hopes TOO high but also just excited that it’s caught wind again to begin with. hopefully the team is as committed and pumped as we all are. love your video though!!
Man this game had some god damn good ambiance and music, Still, I sometimes open extended versions of bigby's apartment theme and sit while staring at the walls at 4 AM
Well to be fair another reason for Wolf Among Us not being commercially successful is the fact that unlike the rest of their library it was based on a property that literally nobody except for people who read Vertigo would know existed. So of course it wouldn't make the same numbers as Walking Dead which was at the height of mainstream popularity at the time
I am just now with my boyfriend making it a mission to with him go through every single telltale game, and honestly writing wise there all over the place so far. Even games in the same season can do a massive quality jump such as with TWD: Season 2, and it is just baffling sometimes. I also rank The Wolf Among Us as their best game cause it is without a doubt the best written of their games that suffers from the least of the staple issue's I keep having with most of their other games. Tales from the borderlands is also very good in that regard, but I did not like it as much cause I just enjoyed the story, world, and setting in LWAU more. However that's more of a personal preference thing more than it is a writing issue. I also feel like so many people sleep on Sam & Max(Devil's Playhouse Especially), and Strong Bad's Cool game for attractive people(ain't that a sentence) as they are both such fun games to go through especially with friends. So despite there age and somewhat hatred of running on modern hardware at times, I fully recommend people to check um out though if you can( I know Sam & Max got licensed again so it can still be bought) Still I love how varying opinions people can have on their favorite games by the company. Also really sucks how horrible Telltale as a company became, and what happened to everyone involved it...just makes me so sad.
17:37- 17:42 Fun fact! In the 4th- 5th episode of BTTS, they actually do make two endings based on how you treated John- whether he becomes a vigilante or a villian. And guess what? They're both amazing in their own way. But they also came out around the time TellTale was slipping into the red. Besides TWD season 4, BTTS was the only other thing they were crunching time on. The hypothetical episodes you talked about do exist, but they're also part of the reason TTG shut down.
This was the first game on my xbox one I played with my friends at my house when I first got the console, and will never forget it, this game was a masterpiece
One thing I will always love is how it makes you feel like your choices actually mattered in the climax. Sure, regardless of what you say Nerrisa comes in to provide proof against The Crooked Man, but it genuinely feels like you're having to decide what option would be best to be picked.
Recently stumbled upon this video. I absolutely loved this game. I still play through it occasionally. Every time that I heard the name telltale pop up after this released I had my fingers crossed for a sequel.
I think if (and when, I think? If what I'm seeing is to be believed) Telltale makes a return, they should incorporate more of the traditional puzzle aspects of point and click adventure games. I.e pulling out different things from your inventory and seeing what you can do with them. Telltale's inventory system was genuinely good for nothing more than reminding you that you're holding a wrench.
I am so glad to see other people feel the same way about this game that I do! I really think that this has the best telltale has ever done. Will you be talking about the second one when it (finally) comes out? I’m excited to hear everyone’s thoughts about it!!!!!
@@CloudConnection Praying that the new team will have fun with this game 😰 original one is a hard act to follow. The outfits they have already revealed alone give me hope though!
I have played a lot of Telltale games and TWAU is one of my favorites. Still doesn't beat The Walking Dead imo but its still a solid story none the less. I have a weird bond with TWD because the first season came out when I was fairly young. I wasn't allowed to watch TWD because I was like 6 or 7 and I remember I really wanted to because the thought of zombies interested me. I had the first season of TWD game and I played it in the middle of the night in my creepy asf attic with all the lights off when it was pouring rain outside. Now keep in mind I was like 6 or 7. So if you have played TWD Season 1 then you probably remember the St. Johns. Well that whole scene scarred me so bad. I switched off the TV whenever I stopped Clementine from eating a piece of Mark and just full sprinted to my room and tried to sleep it off. I avoided TWD games for awhile and would occasionally play some of Telltales other games. But when I was about 10 or 11 I got the first Batman game and I loved it. So I bought the second one as well and played through them. Last year I decided I wanted to play a Telltale game and I didnt want to replay Batman so I looked for Telltale games on steam and all of TWD games including the dlc and TWD Saints and Sinners was in a pack and was on sale. So I had decided to overcome my fear of the St Johns and give it another try. I absolutely loved it and it gave me a lot of emotions. But I still get PTSD from when I was like 7. I live in the country and a good family friend of mine lives in like a 1 to 1 house of the St Johns. Like they are freakishly similar. Every time I eat there I get reminded of the St Johns and I have to sit and think for awhile. So basically what I'm saying is the reason I love TWD games over TWAU is because of my childhood trauma with it lol.
CloudConnection it caught me off guard, I was looking for small channels Bc I like helping out fellow youtubers and tbh I wasn’t expecting you to have such good content
Even though this was one of Telltale's better games, I still feel that it is severely underrated. Watching this video makes me want to play the whole game again, that's all I can do while waiting for season 2.
This intro made me cry because it's so true that it's still one of my favorite companies especially the fact that I had my greatest memories play these games I wish they were not ever going through these crisis especially since they created great games that made me have great times and memories I will probably never forget for my whole life
The Wolf Among Us is favorite Telltale game. But the only time your choices really mattered in a Telltale game was episode 5 of Batman The Enemy Within.
I feel like Telltale games are less "chose your own adventure" as it is "give this character a personality". The plot is to catch the killer, not watch Bigby grow as a person. You are watching a story and creating one of the characters in the game. I find that shit rad as hell
Telltale Games basically digitized the "choose your own adventure" gameplay model, with varying degrees of success. The Wolf Among Us was unique in that it didn't rely on an established game or film franchise, and rather went with a relatively unknown (in the mainstream) source material. The story of down-on-their-luck characters from famous folklore personas was refreshingly original. Telltale Games projects were not so much games as they were interactive films. Sadly, modern games (and to a lesser extent gamers) seem more focuses on the instant gratification model of dopamine production. Flashy graphics, shallow gameplay, and stories that are either non-existent or convoluted to the point of confused boredom. The Wolf Among Us was a gem, from a brighter time...in a simpler age.
I'm thinking about making a video on Season 2 if/when it comes out, but as for my thoughts right now, I really need to see more details on it before I get excited. I don't know if I trust the restructured Telltale yet, and though I'd love for Season 2 to be great, I don't want new Telltale to make the same mistakes in order to make it happen.
@@CloudConnection I saw a previous Telltale staff member on Twitter said the game is in good hands. Plus, they are using the Unreal Engine now. I think we are in for something great.
17:15 I think I disagree a bit here unlike the rest of the video. I think you're right about it being an impossible task to create multiple stories to a large audience. But...I don't think the fault lies with the players. As you mentioned a couple of seconds earlier before the time stamp, Telltale announces over and over again that the choices a player makes has huge impacts on the story. Holding them accountable to that promise isn't looking at things the wrong way imo. But otherwise hard agree with everything else you said in the video, I'm enjoying binge-watching all your telltales analysis!
I'm really hesitant regarding TWAUS 2, I'm really not sure if any team can capture the atmosphere, tone, and pure quality of writing that TWAU was able to achieve.
I bought this game for the first time 2 years ago, I played a couple of minutes and thought it wasn't for me, refunded and moved on. A year later a friend told me to buy it and that it's really good I should give it a chance^^ I'm so glad I didn't skip out on it, cause even when the gameplay is nothing special in the telltale games, they sure know how to play my feelings! :)
Everyone who's sad about there still not being a season 2 (including myself) should remember that the sky's the limit with generative AI around the corner :)
The criticism people make that telltale games always end up the same never made sense to me. Yeah the greater story ends up the same but the character you play becomes so different in your mind. The motivations feel so different and the relationships between characters feel different to you
I can hopefully see a positive change by hiring auntie greenleaf because she has a great resource of glamours and if that makes glamours easier to make then it could make glamours more affordable
I think the reason this game is one of telltales best is because although your choices mostly mean nothing by the end it doesn't have a whole bunch of moments where if you could just do x then y will not happen and a better outcome for the story may be possible. Instead the choices you do make feel like they matter bc at the end people will be against you if you treated them like shit it actually matters that you were a good or bad person where as in the other games the choices literally only decide who likes you by the end of the story not where the story goes or even who lives or dies everything stays the same it's just whether or not they like you that changes which works pretty well for this game but not for the others as the others have far different stories with way more branching paths the only other endings I see for wolf among us are the crooked man escaping bc you didn't gather enough evidence or enough people to back you up or you just flat out don't catch the crooked man at all and maybe get stuck with Georgie as the culprit. I guess what I'm saying is while playing through this multiple times I never really felt like I was being forced down a path like with the other games instead it felt like the choices I was making actually were doing something rather than being given an option only for one of them to be the only one that works. For example the saint John dairy decision in the walking dead season 1 it literally means nothing and there is no difference at all in the story of you choose no so what's the point? Their future titles were full of those choices and it's why they went bankrupt imo along with the lack of diversity in dialogue options and the lack of multiple endings bc you cannot tell me one ending with varying characters being alive counts as multiple endings it's not.
i love rewatching full playthroughs every now and then just to watch it like a movie. its a great story i wish it would be (exactly and not different) adapted into a netflix show. as far as the game i cant get enough of the noire style, the amazing soundtrack and the environment. i would love to live there, if im not a victim of the chaos
the wolf among us is definitely my favorite telltale game, and i think arguable their best, the atmosphere, art style and story lore made the game super engaging and addicting. but i wouldnt say the wolf among us is a “masterpiece”. it was made in the early days of telltale, but it still felt a little under-baked and not fully fleshed out. still an amazing game though
i'm still a bit disappointed that the lowkey attraction between Snow and Bigby wasn't explored more... it had a vibe like "I'm sorry Bigby, I'd like to, but I can't... I have my duty to care for this community, and I want to do everything in my power; and starting a romance would mean that I'd have to give my position up..."
*liked the look and style of this game...the animation fit the fairy tale setting so for me that was a bonus...could have done without the profanity but i didn't write the script and honestly the characters that used it would in all likelihood not speak any other way or sound totally fake if they refrained from doing so when they did* *looking forward the the wolf among us 2 when it comes out in 2023...assuming there are not going to be any delays*
This is one of my favorite games on the top five or three and let me tell you I've played a lot of games and beat through most of them there's been a lot of Beggars but this one this one takes the place I mean I have played this game four or three times and it does not get old to me I mean it's not like Detroit become human it doesn't make big changes depending on what you do but I just like this more than that game I just love this game I mean I'm literally getting ready to play it two more times before its sequel

I'm a bit late, but If I buy it on ps4 do I get the full game with all episodes? Or do I have to buy each separately?
@@brianstokes5103 You get them all, but I assume you've already played through it by now.
@@MMACinephile yeah I have but thanks anyway bro
The wolf among us was fantastic
The Wolf Among Us Season 1 might be one of my favorite video games of all time.
I actually have seen the Wolf Among us played many times and every time there’s always something new, I think that’s what really makes it awesome for me! The walking dead never gave me the inspiration to re watch it and find different endings but TwAU definitely does!
Great video! Completely agreed and I know I'm almost a year late to the party but hearing recently that season 2 is still being made is amazing! Very underrated series
I had no idea there was a second one on the way I was still under the impression telltale was dead. Everyone here just made my day
Same
How does this only have 2k views, it's actually such a good video
I'm sharing it :)
Telltale has so much unused content telling a lot about the changes that go through and it's a really good insight to the problems that really went on behind the scenes
There's a relatively small RUclipsr named 'Incoldblood' who went through a lot of early telltale stuff in great detail in a way no one else has.
This was their best game hands down..it deserves a sequel above any other game imo.
Watching this as The Wolf Among Us 2 was recently announced. Feels good c:
17:37- 17:42
Fun fact!
Sure, regardless of what you say Nerrisa comes in to provide proof against The Crooked Man, but it genuinely feels like you're having to decide what option would be best to be picked.
wow how the actor in a few wordd and a cold stare make you believe your looking at the big bad wolf :D
I'm definitely doing something on WAU2! Don't know what it would be exactly, but I want to do something on it for sure
@@CloudConnection Praying that the new team will have fun with this game 😰 original one is a hard act to follow. The outfits they have already revealed alone give me hope though!
Supposedly season 2 is coming out this year(2024) but we'll see.
Anybody else choose to buy the Woodsman a drink by selecting ?
You have some good quality 😃 I’m glad I found your channel
Thank you good sir!
CloudConnection it caught me off guard, I was looking for small channels Bc I like helping out fellow youtubers and tbh I wasn’t expecting you to have such good content

I can’t wait for the second game coming out this year yall
Even though this was one of Telltale's better games, I still feel that it is severely underrated. Watching this video makes me want to play the whole game again, that's all I can do while waiting for season 2.
I'm a bit late but if I buy the game on ps4 do I get all episodes? Or do I have to buy them separately?
This intro made me cry because it's so true that it's still one of my favorite companies especially the fact that I had my greatest memories play these games I wish they were not ever going through these crisis especially since they created great games that made me have great times and memories I will probably never forget for my whole life
The Wolf Among Us is favorite Telltale game. But the only time your choices really mattered in a Telltale game was episode 5 of Batman The Enemy Within.
The gameplay isnt a problem. Its part of what makes it what it is.
I'm gonna need an updated video regarding the Season 2 teaser.
I hope so! And I'm fully willing to admit that I'm wrong if new Telltale ends up a better company.
I think talking animals like Colin can stay in Fabletown without needing a glamour. All they really need to do is shut up when around normal humans.
17:15
I think I disagree a bit here unlike the rest of the video.
Good news Mundies. Wolf among us game 2 is coming to us!
Was shocked when I looked at your sub count lol quality video just finished the game
"season 2 2018" 😭😭😭
Season 2, 2018. I almost choked on my drink
Try 11 years
2024
I'm really hesitant regarding TWAUS 2, I'm really not sure if any team can capture the atmosphere, tone, and pure quality of writing that TWAU was able to achieve.
I just played it for the first time and I will make the argument that it’s one of the best games of all time.
I'm excited for Season Two in 2023! With this and the Expanse, I think we're going to see the grand return of Telltale Games!
People need to realize that something doesn’t need to be perfect to be considered a masterpiece.
I bought this game for the first time 2 years ago, I played a couple of minutes and thought it wasn't for me, refunded and moved on.
A year later a friend told me to buy it and that it's really good I should give it a chance^^
I'm so glad I didn't skip out on it, cause even when the gameplay is nothing special in the telltale games, they sure know how to play my feelings! :)
Everyone who's sad about there still not being a season 2 (including myself) should remember that the sky's the limit with generative AI around the corner :)
I’ve played 75% of their games. I miss the good old days.....before the empire
the dialogue about 'Brickelbit' is fucking funny
Recently discovered this game, it's my first Telltale game and I loved it.
The criticism people make that telltale games always end up the same never made sense to me. Yeah the greater story ends up the same but the character you play becomes so different in your mind. The motivations feel so different and the relationships between characters feel different to you
my bigby was a ruthless killer
finally we are getting wolf back,.
Their future titles were full of those choices and it's why they went bankrupt imo along with the lack of diversity in dialogue options and the lack of multiple endings bc you cannot tell me one ending with varying characters being alive counts as multiple endings it's not.
i love rewatching full playthroughs every now and then just to watch it like a movie. its a great story i wish it would be (exactly and not different) adapted into a netflix show. as far as the game i cant get enough of the noire style, the amazing soundtrack and the environment. i would love to live there, if im not a victim of the chaos
most characters feel real, even bufkin has a unique personality that i cant get enough of
Great video, very underrated story. Glad to see you shining some light on it.
you like my ribbon?
well this didn't age well telltale got revived and they are developing the wolf among 2 and are actually putting effort into it this time
Part 2 2023 babyyyyyy
I’m loving the sonic adventure battle 2 editing
First they say 2018, then 2023, it’s now 2024 😢
Maybe it’s just me, but a re release of TWAU with an updated animation could really help make a difference
8:48 absolutely right!
Great Review My dude The Wolf Among Us is still my favorite telltale game and it's a shame season 2 won't happen
Well...
Anyone else hate the
"THIS CHOICE IS BLANK!" Glitch?
the wolf among us is definitely my favorite telltale game, and i think arguable their best, the atmosphere, art style and story lore made the game super engaging and addicting.
but i wouldnt say the wolf among us is a “masterpiece”. it was made in the early days of telltale, but it still felt a little under-baked and not fully fleshed out. still an amazing game though
One of my favorite games of all time! Unfortunately very very underrated
I can't wait for the sequel
i'm still a bit disappointed that the lowkey attraction between Snow and Bigby wasn't explored more... it had a vibe like "I'm sorry Bigby, I'd like to, but I can't... I have my duty to care for this community, and I want to do everything in my power; and starting a romance would mean that I'd have to give my position up..."
It's a prequel to the Fables comics, so it's explored more there.
I read the whole Fables series.
Great video! I’m playing it through PS Now and working towards the platinum. Really looking forward to the sequel with improved animations.
This makes me wish there was an actual Fables animated series. Instead of the crappy Once Upon a Time.
Fans is going to remember that
I am very late to this video, but you gained a sub :)
great video
Its back
*liked the look and style of this game...the animation fit the fairy tale setting so for me that was a bonus...could have done without the profanity but i didn't write the script and honestly the characters that used it would in all likelihood not speak any other way or sound totally fake if they refrained from doing so when they did*
*looking forward the the wolf among us 2 when it comes out in 2023...assuming there are not going to be any delays*
