Guest from the actual country? This series kicks the crap out of geography now.
Barb's got nothing on this
Hmm. That's what I was thinking of. But do I prefer the shouty Barbs or this amateur
IDK why but Geography Now has always annoyed me a little bit. Besides, I love Andrew's fun facts and random tidbits that you don't get in Geography Now!
Geography now’s video on Mexico had a Mexican too💀
yeah that's the joke LOL he has had a LOT of guests on @@xdizzle0460
I loved your editor nitpicking and judging your pronunciation. Obviously, there's a limit to how much that sort of thing can be done while keeping a good flow of the video, but it was hilarious and well done.
As a mexican, seeing the bodega aurrera with a yellow filter was hilarious
Mr. Editor is very funny, another great video as always!
I went to the Guatemala-Mexico border last year. What I thought was interesting was that Mexico treated the entering and exiting its state of Chiapas as if it was the country border checking out passports and stuff. Customs Mini. lol
Edit: Also I loved the guest segment, I'm glad he put everything in sepia color to prevent confusion of where he was talking about.
There was a rebellion there and it’s been semi autonomous for the past couple of decades. It’s treated very differently than other states.
The editor was great, he’s a natural performer! Also, the new style of editing you’ve been working on is really really great and fits your style well
THE FUCKING BREAKING BAD FILTER AHAHAHAHAHA
Nice to meet you señor editor.
Also that Mexico scooter anecdote was cute
The editor is a very funny man.
Comments made by your editor were top notch and maybe should be a part of future videos.
I loved the bit with pronunciation scores
I was thinking Malaysia, I completely forgot about Mexico 😭
I was thinking about several Dutch towns throughout the ages that got completely annihilated lmao
@@GwainSagaFanChannelthe flag is in the tumbnail
Happens to the best of us, I thought Mali!
I was thinking Monaco.
I was thinking Myanmar
ibx trying not to regonize brazil be like:
Mexico is not as dangerous as the media portrays. It's just like every other country. There are some bad areas, just like every country, but most places are safe. If you're not doing anything, you shouldn't be, you won't have any problems. Mexico is awesome, and everyone should visit.
eh, 9 of the 10 most dangerous cities in the world are in Mexico.
@moonshine8255 you been to Southside Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Long Beach, Brooklyn, etc? I bet you would feel the exact same in those places.
@moonshine8255 in fact I bet you have a higher chance of getting attacked in those places than in Mexico because the cartels aren't stupid. They don't mess with American tourists because it's bad for business. They aren't stupid. That just brings attention and problems. I used to walk around Reynosa, Mexico in the late 90s-2000s as a little kid and never had a single problem. 100s of times
I was looking forward to the Mermany episode. Devastated toycat
Give your editor a raise.
So no Mermany.
I didn't know some of these things Mexico has in common with the US. Our capital (Washington DC) is a district with complex political issues because it's not a state, but it shares its name with a state-just like Mexico. We also have a state people like to joke doesn't exist, Wyoming.
Liar wyoming isnt a state
In various countries, there are jokes of subdivisions or cities that dont exist.
Editor is great, keep him
I enjoyed the guest speaker break with your editor! It's always cool to hear about a country from a resident. I had a good friend in high school who was in Canada on a one year educational exchange from Chiapas. He returned to Mexico for his last year of high school and had hoped to come back to Canada to attend university here and become a doctor and stay, but unfortunately for him his name was drawn for military service so he couldn't go. Every once in a while I check in on his mother's Facebook and it looks like he's doing well, highly ranked. I'm not sure how long service is in Mexico but we're in our mid 30s now and last I checked he was still serving, so at this point I have to assume he chose to just go with that career.
wait no f way did the editor add a yellow filter
No Google maps just got updated
Yexico
Mr editor needs to be promoted
Nice to see the editor that has made this delightful alphabetical journey possible - ¡muchos gracias!
Related to Mexican borders - I appreciate that mostly in the name of science/conservation there’s a boating/wading legal crossing from Big Bend National park over El Río Bravo del Norte to reach the southern equivalent protected areas/small towns. (Certainly feels less than Grande there so I’ll just go with their name for it lol.). I didn’t actually end up doing it, but it’s a Beautiful area especially the canyons. I thought the tiny Texas Ocelot population was out in Big Bend since it seems like it would make a lot of sense for them to still make it out there. From non-scary personal experience there are black bears in Big Bend (one crossed the road well in front of us) so logically a small spotted cat could still make it to but when I recently looked it up… no. Oops. Always good to keep learning.
I really like your editor!! Best A-Z video yet.
I’m loving this series and the editing on the channel, also I liked the part with the Mexican guy, i found it to be very interesting👍🏼
24:04 on google maps, when going to street view, dont click and hold the man, just click the man once and then click on the road, more responsive 👍
So I just noticed something. With all of the "advices against all but essential travel to this state EXCEPT..." the exceptions are all touristic towns, since tourism is the main source of income for most parts of Mexico, they become a safe haven until they are not: truces with the local cartel can end anytime, very scary... for the people living there more than tourists.
I'd like to go to Mexico. First thing is the F1 grand Prix and then somewhere away from the tourists where I can sit down with an old lady and shell peas and try to have a conversation.
Really liked the editor, but the volume disparity was a bit jarring. Obv, if it's a mic issue, it won't be easy to fix.
Sorry about that lol, I recorded everything w/ my phone lol
This series is a speedrun race against geographynow
18:57 as a Zacatecano the fact that Zacatecas is orange highly offends me, last time I went only a few children got kidnapped (I’m not going further into the story but I think they were fine)
Huh, didn't know that Mexico is yellow indoors too. Or was editor guy recording outdoors?
nah thats the law that requires all camera lenses to have yellow tinted glass, just like the government mandated contacts
@@biggusdickus9057 can confirm c:
Loved the expert you had on this episode
Crazy, nice to have the editor join in on the video
20:06 Toycat could've said "Michigan," and he would've been fine, lol.
Same difference.
LOL I would love to see what his editor would say about that pronunciation. 😂
No, there aren´t a lot of walls on the southern border. And no, Mexico still doesn´t have a strict border between Mexico and Guatamala. There are, alternatively, many immigration checkpoints within the border zone both to the north and to the south.
It´s illegal to participate in protests because the constitution states that foreigners cannot interfere in the country´s politics. But you won´t really get arrested just for that.
Cool video!
Will you catch flak for "Rio Grande River" at 5:22? River Big River sounds ok to me.
Your editor's English is impressive! You can still tell that it isn't his first language, but he's quite fluent!
Bring back the walking soundtrack from the first videos. It makes me feel like I'm there 😊
Guadalajara person over here.
If you do visit México and Guadalajara is on your radar, let me know to help you around!
Excelente amigo juguete gato
4:33 you missed a funny name by not knowing your spanish. that place, "Gracas a Dios" is literally called "Thanks to God"
i crashed an E scooter once and a dude from across the street just yelled "HOLY SHIT" and then followed by a "Are you okay?!" it hurt a little but not as much as it was embarrassing xd
0:36 As a Costa Rican, I can confirm that there’s only three countries in North America. Central America and the Caribbean are both a different thing.
Geographically thats just not true
@@rogeliovaldez6594 It is true
Continents are made up anyways, there’s no one right or wrong version and in Central America we see it that way
@@dipie197 im pretty sure ur just wrong 🙂
3 important ones I guess
Green-go is a folk etymology, one of many. The earliest attestation comes from Spain itself (which is why it's common across Spanish speaking AND português speaking countries) when foreigners who couldn't speak Iberian language well went to Spain the people there couldn't understand them so they thought they were speaking Greek (just like in English we say "it's all Greek to me" when we don't understand), so they called them "griego" and over time this word evolved into gringo. Like many linguistic cognates, this word has a different specific meaning depending on the place they're saying it, but it always has a connotation of 'outsider'

"Meh quiche Ko" is the phonetic pronunciation of Mexico in Japanese 🏯
Obviously the Japanese were not impressed with Mexicos quiche making skills
It also drained a lake and built a city there
Lol
Soviet era vibes of draining a lake
Was so heartbroken we didn’t get to hear about Manada
you are the second youtuber that I know, that has had an e scooter accident in a non homecountry
I would call Mexico, US and Canada as the big 3 in North America, but Denmark/Greenland is also North America, and France also has an island in North America. But then France has territory all over the world.
Dang guess mexico relly does have a yellow filter irl

Where’s our Mermany video?

As a Texan I’m glad they added an extra flag in our collection. They were cool to learn about in 7th grade lmao
Also the USA could’ve annexed the entirety of Mexico after the Mexican American war, kinda sad we didn’t, the region would be a whole lot more stable as there wouldn’t been various dictators and immense corruption.
They didn't just because there were too many mexicans in mexico 😂
@@matirei3266 that and it was near the height of the north VS south thing we had going on for like a hundred years.
So sad that mixico lost that war, instead of the worst cultural exports the world could have gotten (mcdeez nuts and hollywood) we could be having many more mexican fast food places across the globe... Sad times we live in...
