I gotta say I actually feel like the Blue Tongue Skink is very underestimated and i do believe they will gain popularity in time. I cannot wait to get my own Blue Tongue Skink someday.
They are definitely underrated! Our job is to promote them so people can find out how amazing they are and eventually get one (hopefully from us) lol
@TikisGeckos if I decide to get one it would definitely be from y'all I promise you that!! I have 3 crested geckos from you that I'm now breeding and I currently have 12 baby crested geckos I'm raising up before rehoming them. Love everything y'all do!!
@TikisGeckos My blue tongues get lots of insects, veggies and some dog food if they're being picky Sometimes even pinky mice and mine have grown very quickly. They also get UVB light And will chase down food If you give it the chance

My blue tongue skink does the same thing even though it's not a bearded dragon and it will just go out there and sit in one spot and chill and chill and chill unlike my bearded dragons which were always all over the place and love to bite a lot unlike my blue tongues
However I once did fall asleep with my ball python beside me and it just curled up and went underneath the pillow beside me
I've been advocating for Blue Tongue skinks for 12 years since I started getting into this and the first ones I've ever seen at a reptile show with two years ago where I live we have two shows a year the spring and summer exposed and not that big but they still get over 10,000 people

Yes even the more tropical varieties like the Indonesian types should have a lower strength uvb bulb
I agree with you that bearded dragons are not the best starter animal I always recommend spend a few extra hundred and get a blue tongue skink you'll never bite you it might but it is super super super super super super rare and they're just a friendly and you still chill out with you they called potatoes with legs becoming cool patterns and colors and I want to replace the bearded dragons pretty much with Blue Tongue skinks because I have seen so many irresponsible pet stores sell bearded dragons kids with their parents who know nothing about it and the dragons even turtles or tortoises getting messed up because they're giving the wrong advice from the pet store or some dumbasses online

BTS are better, but that price point and genetic diversity aren't ideal. That said, forget the beardie and get a Uromastyx! No bugs, no smell, and who doesn't need a lizard whose tail can maim you on the regular??
