I recently purchased a 2017 E400 Wagon a couple of months back and am in love with it so far. It is fully loaded with all options and a maybach designo interior. Massage seats, autopilot steering and many more options. I own a tuning company so we tuned it the day we bought it and it now makes around 400+hp and close to 500ft-lbs. The motor in the 2017's is the same as the C43. The car is no slouch, it takes most cars off the line as it is awd and I believe it to feel sportier with the tune when you want it to but as comfortable as anything I have ever been in when you want it to. The 2017 does not have the touch screen but instead has the scroll knob which I think is better than the gimmicks and lag the touch screen brings with it. I installed a android box that overrides carplay so on the many road trips I have taken it so far I can watch Netflix or RUclips on my long trips. It's an amazing driving experience and when you have 6 of your buddies in the car it brings the best of times. The people in the third trunk row would wave at other drivers who would be basically staring right at them when driving behind us haha. All in all I bought the car for $55k and it had an MSRP just shy of $100k.

I own a 2020 E450 wagon and its by far the nicest and most practical I've ever owned. It almost has the space of a mid-sized SUV but WAY more fun to drive with a smooth and reliable twin turbo V6 engine. Last Sep did a long distance trip from Austin TX to Toronto Canada in two days (1700 miles) and it was perfect car for that long trip. I was getting 510 miles to a tank and the seats are all day comfortable. The engine can be a tame luxury car or switch it to 'SPORT' mode and it becomes a fire breathing beast. Mine is well equipped at $74510 but bought it at year end and got it for $65760 so felt I got an awesome deal. I will never sell mine :)

After a year of living here during the pandemic, I got a deal on a 2012 Peugeot 508 SW which is similar in size to this to this. That isn't what's important. Though what I'm saying is pretty boring info, but basically 75L/19gal tank and diesel, the reason why these things are still selling is that the range is 1500km which is 932mi to tank! It's silky smooth on the highway and just purrs along with 3.2-4.6L per 100 (EU way of calculating fuel efficiency) with a 6sp manual. Sure most of that is the diesel....but it just slips through the wind with a lot less fuss than a SUV/CUV...and so much room inside despite being narrower for the EU market and EU roads.

The front doors don't hold open on the tiniest grade, the infotainment could be better, and I wish it didn't have runflats. But as a total package? It's better than I ever thought a car would be. Smooth, fast, comfortable, attractive, safe, and a pleasure ever time I get into it (except when the front door closes early and hits my leg...) Oh, and it carries 6 big dogs(100#+) with ease, and the low load height means that even old dogs, injured dogs, or tiny dogs can get in to it.
