I kinow - I've been to Chichen Itza & the pyramid & buildings are very impressive. I picked up a chunk of stone laying on the ground & it had carvings on it - I felt so privileged to hold it, but put it back of course- no stealing from such places ! I think it's likely that the Tikal place was home to a much bigger crowd than the others because it was probably the last & most important place - their central place. Maybe they all moved from place to place until Tikal, so there may not have needed to be multi-millions of humans in the area if they moved around. I don't believe the concept of their disappearance, but they likely moved on once the time frame they believed in was ended - maybe they thought their Gods were telling them what to do. Maybe like the religious nuts who wait for some specific thing to happen, they waited for the end of their timeframe & expected some result that didn't happen, so they all drifted away ? My point is it's such amazing history & we don't really know how their minds worked because we are so far away from their mental concepts.
