One amazing lady fixes the machine that’s expensive and probably have overpaid engineers that couldn’t help her and she has no attitude. Just a great heart thumbs up.👍👍
As much money as their freeze dryers cost, Harvest Right should make sure every T is crossed and every i is dotted. Harvest right should give credence to this video, compensate for the fix, and purchase their own pressure canning lid gasket and test and beef up the rubber seal on their product. No matter the person or company there is ALWAYS something to learn…
You’re a genius! I have fought this same issue. Shame on Harvest Right for not making a thick enough gasket for these expensive machines. Thank you for a great solution video ❤
Awesome hack! I had the same issue with my door when I first received my freeze dryer a little over two years ago. While I did not receive an error message, there was never full contact all around the door seal. I also tried all the things you tried, but nothing really worked. What I ended up doing was pulling the rubber door gasket out a bit each time I used my Harvest Right freeze dryer (Hugo) and that strategy has been working well for me. After watching your video, I retrieved one of my extra Presto gaskets and put it on Hugo-it was a perfect fit! Your video was right on time and right on point! Thank you 🎉
I am so happy that you are making videos about freeze drying as a preservation method! I’m also very happy that you took your time to access the issues with the Harvest Right freeze dryer and didn’t rush to put up content for your subscribers before you were comfortable. Thank You for being a true leader in educating the masses😁.
Those engineers at tech support should have called their no nonsense, full of common sense grandmas for a solution 🤣. Ya Mrs H is a problem solvers extraordinaire!
It's wild seeing so many in the comments having the same issue after spending thousands of dollars. I really want a freeze dryer, but I'm gonna hold off on this one until the quality matches the purchase price. You're a gem Mrs. H.
The door hinges can slide to different positions and ours needed to be moved backward toward the unit. I love your innovation though you found a great solution
I'm glad you rigged it...but they need to manufacture new rings to solve this for other customers. Outlandish that a machine that expensive you need to rig it up. >.< Thanks for sharing and you are a smart one for sure!
I had to do the same thing to my freeze dryer, however, mine was not giving me an error message, but condensation was forming and dripping down the door. After adding a foam gasket, the problem stopped. Love your videos.
I have been using a butter knife to pull it out in order to get the seal. I'm doing this today! Adjusting the door did not work. For those that it worked for, I'm so glad. I've had my freeze dryer 2 years and I love it.
I am happy you found a fix so you can actually use your freeze dryer but honestly I would expect more from a machine this costly, including better service!
Another way to tighten the connection is to put a piece of cardboard (about 1/4 inch thick) where the door latch connects to the main body of the freeze dryer. This makes the plexiglass door tighten to the rubber gasket when you latch the door (perfect seal). I’ve been doing this for 5 years with the same piece of cardboard.
Cool! Also thread the cable up over the rack gives the rack a little more room to move back into the chamber and gasket more room to move in with door.
Thank you we are planning to buy one and you are so smart to figure out how to fix this door sealing problem. Harvest should take advice from you for sure.
That is exactly the same problem I had but I didn’t come up with the genius fix that you did! I just kept not pushing the door ring all the way on. If Harvest Right incorporates this fix, you need to get paid and this video is proof of where we heard and saw it first! ❤
Wow, after watching your video I went straight away to put my pressure canner seal onto my medium freeze dryer. Tight fit but I got it. Thank you for sharing this. I sure love your channel. Lots of love.
You are so resourceful and wise. Thank you for sharing this tip. I would love to learn more of your experience with freeze drying. Ive run in to so many issues with mine and none of the other youtubers ever talk about problems with freeze drying.
The freeze dryer is still broken and should be repaired. It looks like the latch is the problem as the sealing on the hinge side appeared adequate. Only a light seal is needed to begin with as air pressure will put hundreds of pounds of force holding the door closed once a vacuum is established. The hinges and latch are light duty as they only have to establish a light seal to get the vacuum started. The additional stress on the hinges and latch from the proud seal will shorten life of the parts and the door. A more expensive repair in the future will be needed. An adjustment or replacement of the latch is the best repair.
You are a GENIUS!! Thank you so much for sharing this absolutely brilliant solution with us!! Just my canner seal on the FD and it works like a charm now. 😊
That is genius!! I have the same issue. For now, the gasket that comes with the Harvest Right works if I pull it away from the freeze dryer a bit and then close the door. Every single batch I worry about though. I want to try this to be extra safe.
I am soooo thankful for this video!!! I am dealing with this all of them time! I've been so frustrated as this was a very expensive piece of equipment and I'm not enjoying it like I used to. I have an extra gasket from my canner so I am so excited to try this tomorrow 🤗
Your fix is so smart! I had the SAME ISSUE. It was so frustrating. I took a sponge bar soap holder and cut it down to go behind my ring. I contacted HR repeatedly and got the run around so many times that I’m now selling my freeze dryer. They had good reps but honestly, the run around and all of the steps needed to get help was exhausting. Another issue was that I got a bad impulse heat sealer that’s a known issue for a batch HR sent out. There are videos on YT about it. I have reached out, had to make videos to prove the heat strips were bad and I still never got sent good strips. I wanted to love freeze drying and HR but I have been very disappointed with the experience.
Wish I had room and money for one. Garage is crammed so I wouldn't have to hear it running all the time because it would to pay itself off. Lol a presto seal worked. Inexpensive fix. Maybe get some backups.
My Harvest Right doesn't have any problems with the door seal. I guess I lucked out when mine was made. I bought ours on lay away last black Friday and took delivery this past June. I've been freeze drying a lot of meats 😋. I just cooked up 3½ pounds of ground beef to freeze dry tonight.
Harvest Right needs to pay you for solving this issue, so serious
One amazing lady fixes the machine that’s expensive and probably have overpaid engineers that couldn’t help her and she has no attitude. Just a great heart thumbs up.👍👍
I see what you did there!
Blessings 💜
@jeffpanico3785 Perfect response😁‼️

Exactly. They should test every single machine before it goes out!
That is amazing! Congratulations on solving a problem the experts couldn't solve!
You’re a genius! I have fought this same issue. Shame on Harvest Right for not making a thick enough gasket for these expensive machines. Thank you for a great solution video ❤
You may have just solved my freeze dryer problems! I tried adjusting the door and everything- you’re a genius! 🎉 Thank you!
Glad I could help!
A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! Awesome 👏
Women always know how to improvise . Great job.😊😊
It's a shame that such an expensive machine still needs to be rigged to function properly. SMH.
I haven’t used my freeze dryer in over a year because I have that very same problem. Thanks Mrs. Heart, I’m gonna try this and see if it works
Same here!
Same!

yes I pull my rubber ring off every time to dry.
Same here!
Hugo 😂😂😂😂

As much as that costs you should not have had to do that. But you being so awesome, made it work.
Those engineers at tech support should have called their no nonsense, full of common sense grandmas for a solution 🤣. Ya Mrs H is a problem solvers extraordinaire!

Now Harvestright will change the opening size of their door to prevent from using cheap parts to fix the problem.
I don’t have a freeze dryer. But if I ever do have one, this video is excellent knowledge to have! Thank you so much for sharing it!
Well done. Women are brilliant at working out things hope your well
Harvest right should compensate you
I agree!!
Your awesome you deserve multiple harvest right products from company for your problem solving

That's what I do too.
Brilliant!!!
Can you share the dimensions of that gasket for those of us that don’t have inventory of old supplies to pull from. And, thank you! 🤗
the presto 16qt canner gasket
Thank you! I just got a freeze dryer haven’t used it yet
This was a very helpful video. Thanks
I am happy you found a fix so you can actually use your freeze dryer but honestly I would expect more from a machine this costly, including better service!
One Thing Ms Heart gone do is fine a way. You Go Queen ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow!! This is amazing!! What a God gift! You would have made an excellent engineer!!
Brilliant!!!! I always just pull it out a bit and let the door push the gasket tight. Just brilliant!
I believe that this hack will be super helpful....Thank you Mrs. H!

Well done! Great troubleshooting and very creative!! Thank you❤️
YOU are very clever. You’re probley a survivor. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing your ingenious hacks with the world.
That's excellent thinking, and it helps with that space behind the gasket that can end up with condensation....I love it.
Mrs. H is Awesome! 💕💕❤❤
Cool! Also thread the cable up over the rack gives the rack a little more room to move back into the chamber and gasket more room to move in with door.
That was wisdom from above.
Oh my goodness!!! Thank you! I’ve been pulling it forward every load. You are wonderful!!! ❤
I have been so stressed trying to get my harvest right to work this is the best solution yet!
Thank you we had the same thing happen to our freeze dryer.
Thats wonderful! Usually when i get vacuum error messages its because i need new oil in the pump.
Ingenious wisdom from the Lord, how awesome!
Appreciate you giving an honest review and providing a simple solution!
This is genius and it worked!!! I immediately ordered the seal and it fixed my problem as well. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!
Ohhh wait can't wait to tell my daughter ❤..thanks Mrs H❤
Very resourceful. Glad you fixed it yourself.
Great idea!! Thank you! God bless you all!
You have solve my proble!!! Love you, girl !!!❤❤❤

Genius! The seal is the most frustrating part of the freeze dryer.
That’s brilliant. I got that error message a couple of times and I just happen to have a Presto. You are absolutely brilliant thank you so much.
You are one smart lady. Blessings to you ❤

Nice! You should send a video link to their customer service/technical support team.

I love watching your videos! So much great information
Awesome idea!
So smart!! Wow!❤
Great idea - thanks for sharing.
Genius! So helpful. Wish I could have one...I think.
Great share! Going to check mine right now. Thank you.
Mine was the same way and i used some door weather striping. It did the same as what you did. Your idea is very clever.
That’s Great to fix it yes yes y’all ❤
BRILLIANT

You can also just put something between the clasp and door handle to tighten it down if you don't have a Presto gasket. 😁
Wish I had room and money for one. Garage is crammed so I wouldn't have to hear it running all the time because it would to pay itself off. Lol a presto seal worked. Inexpensive fix. Maybe get some backups.

I bet that helps so many people! 😀
Thanks for sharing 😊
that is what I was thinking would help--- but didn't know the exact item/ seal-- thankyou
It appears that you may be missing a washer from your sealing knob/handle.
Blessings 🙌🏿 KANSAS CITY IS WATCHING 👀
Smart!
Great hack! I need to see if it will fit my small unit.
I’m glad you found a solution, but those are too expensive to not work perfectly right out of the box.
Hi Marie! I am looking into getting a freeze dryer in the near future. Thanks for the hack!
Be warned
💖 Good job 👍🏼
Genius!
Good morning & good information
Awesome video
I love my HR freeze dryer
Mine wasn't sealing either. Thank you for your tip. I actually have a gasket from a presto canner. I'm gonna try it.
Thanks for that! We've been having intermittent problems with that too! I'm going to McGyver something lol😂
They should pay you for this add and information
Yes I agree!!
