    This is a video highlighting some incredibly classy examples of sportsmanship in fencing over the past few years. Featured athletes are Cody Mattern, Aron Szilagyi, Chris Walker, Eli Dershwitz, Marco Fishera, and Gabor Boczko. Thank you to Zack Brown for his idea to make this video and for his significant contribution to it.
    Look forward to Part Two Coming out soon!

    I like how, when Szilagy concedes his point to Limbach, as they are getting en guarde he shows his action - it looks like a classic coaching cue

    Anstett vs Hartung in the team L16 at worlds a couple of years back would've been a good one. Acknowledged Germany's 44th point....ans this during Anstett's comeback from being down 40-27.

    This is a fantastic video that shows the big love in this community! Yes there are a few assholes, but it is definitely overwhelmed by great attitudes and honest people! Something I've definitely missed from the sport for the past six years ;-;

    I don't get the Szilagyi one. What am I missing. We've all had a touch that we swear should have been simultaneous, but the light didn't go off (suggesting that you didn't hit on-target or with enough force or landed flat depending on point weapon or slashing). You test the equipment and if there is no error in the system you shrug and move on. It happens. I suppose it's a nice gesture but the machine is part of the game.
    I do agree that calling out floor touches that the ref didn't catch is an excellent demonstration of sportmanship, especially having fenced against folks who would intentionally hit the floor during a failed flesh to box out an opponent from scoring on their parry riposte, which was just awful.

      @@matemindak384 The fact that the machine overrules even the referee seeing the hit with his eyes on video is appalling. It removes subjectivity (I suppose), but for that to make sense then the machine needs to work all the time

    I think it's nice sportsmanship from montano in this video at 12:00
    The referre gives a touch to montano at 13-14,and dolnicenu wants to challenge it but he has no video reviews left and montano asks the referee to review it.

    4:35 why did you say "Boczko risks a card" for acknowledging that he hit the floor?

    • @ryanmamedov9347
      @ryanmamedov9347 4 года назад +4

      The fencer isn't allowed to get off the strip until 1 min break between periods or after the bout is finished and Boczko did that to get the ref's attention

    would someone explain me the yellow card rule? thanks.

    • @albertbresca8904
      @albertbresca8904 Год назад +1

      i am a bit out of practice not having fenced in comps for a decade or two.. but I'll try - forgive me for not being up on the rules...
      usually a yellow card is a simple warning and not hit is scored..
      if a fencer gets another yellow card (say weapons failure with a new weapon or bodily contact the opponent... or starting fencing [advancing] prior to the referee calling fencing [or alle.. french for fencing]) their opponent gets a point....
      sorry i am not too up on the yellow cards for non combativity for epee (i competed a lot in the 90's... ) but i hope this helps as i noticed no one had replied to your question 8 months ago....

      tanbuch I agree, but I only had a few sabre examples and one epee example when I started making the video. I asked all of my viewers to submit examples for the video but almost no women's touches or foil touches we suggested and the few that were were owned by NBC so I couldn't use them ☹️

    • @CyrusofChaos

      Bob Bobby I don't think that's true, since you could say the same for sabre but I have enough sabre examples to make a second video...
