Not saying it’s the right way or the wrong way, its just the way I do it!
I do not have a C3 or spare LS/Vortec. I am watching this just in case.
me too, nor do I know how to work on a car and I own a camry
Just bought my 5.3 l33 engine. Monday I will be buying my C3 corvette. I think I will be going broke pretty soon.
Should have done the od trans swap as well
Love garage cats!
Lacey definitely loves the camera haha 📸 🐱
Thinking aboot this for my 69.
So did you keep the Bell housing in the factory location and bolted the LS to it? I have a SBC with a Viper T56 in my car and thought about the LS swap, but need the bell housing to not move at all. Otherwise the turbo SBC will stay.
Lol. All good questions! 👍
So what did you do about the Transmission?
@@RandallGrubbs-r6h we just bolted the LS up to the th400 that was in the car.
What in the samsquanch
😂
I wish I had a Cat now.
Question on the computer side of this can you buy a computer for this? I have a 76 im working on for ls swap with a t56 trans. How do you go from the ls1 wiring harness to the rest of the car with the computer controlling engine functions?
So I’m just using the engine harness to operate the engine and using all the old sensors off the old engine for the gauges in the car
Honestly I wouldn't do much of anything the way you did it. But the information about the Power steering pump was helpful. 👍
Awesome work.. although there are millions of cars that use electric fans every day and are proven that in fact you can have an electric fan for cooling the radiator reliably.
Thanks! That is true but it’s my moms car so we gotta build it that it will work no matter what, and the mechanical fan was free haha
@@TuquesNTires very true hard to beat that
I have a 6.0 LQ9 and looking for somewhere to put it. I have a 96 WS6 it was going in but I really like the C3s.
Cant you just use a gas tank fuel gauge sending unit from a 78 - 82 that has 3 fuel inlet/outlets?
I guess if you have that year of corvette you could, but with the 76 the bolt flange is different for the sending unit.
I am finishing a 2004 Jeep have videos but am technology inefficient. I reccommend buying an old surburban and using all the systems from it to adapt to what ever build your doing. Take the body off for easy access. Good show. Love the 70s Vette.
That’s not a bad tip! Thanks.
Is it worth ls or stay as 350?
That’s a great question! So far from driving the car, you can feel the power difference with the LS and it’s really good on gas too, but the only thing is it doesn’t have that 4 barrel carburetor sound when you put your foot into it, but is it worth it personally I think so but every one likes something different
Good content keep it up🦀🔥
Thanks!
The regular 350 is so much smaller than this I thought the ls was the same thing but better
It’s definitely bigger but it still fits !
If it was for your mom you should just put a cam and bigger heads in that L48
Thinking about my 79. Useing 05 gmc sierra motor. What about a/c? And what about the ECU just pull from truck and put in vette?
If I remember correctly I don’t think there would be enough room for the truck ac pump so would probably have to buy a aftermarket bracket to relocate it, we are using a factory truck harness that we cut down and the computer fit beside the brake booster. The vats were deleted from the computer as well.
Wow, outstanding work! You’re pretty casual about all the ingenious little things you guys fabbed up. Great job!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
💯💥
Def need an update video ! Good work tho!
Thanks!
With shroud modifications, isn't the fan going to suck from under the car than through the radiator? Why didn't you run dual exhaust like on early Vettes? There is a power steering kit which will eliminate the valve and cylinder giving more room under the car.(Borgeson)
We haven’t had any problem with the fan keeping the the engine cool, it might be sucking a bit of air but it’s been fine so far, the car had a sbc so we just made the exhaust to attached to the existing exhaust and good to know about the steering kit!
Looking to swap a ls into a 1980 c3. Will do transmission aswell 4l or 6l so any info be helpful
Hey for some reason I’m just getting your comment now, there is another video of us actually putting the motor in the car so definitely watch that if you haven’t already. We’re planning on trying to put a 4l60e in this summer hopefully so I’ll for sure make a video on that.
I’m n love with the cat 🐱
Did you use the complete manifold exhaust system? To the truck manifold?
Hopefully the info helps!
The cat was a welcome guest. ❤️
Nice job. Def makes me appreciate my sbc in my 73 tho. So easy to work on and about 430 hp which is all these cars really need.
Thanks! Definitely can’t go wrong with a good old small block Chevy 🤟
How fast is it? Thanks for sharing!
@@claysdogtraining9702 well we haven’t had it at a track but by the butt Dyno it’s pretty quick
Lots of modifications 😢
Looking to do my 75 C3. You have cleared a lot up for me.
Good luck with your project!
I have a 75! Man, I'd call y'all friends, great vid.
What hood are you using to clear the truck intake manifold?
We are just using the stock one
Could you go a little more in depth with electronics and/ or wiring to the ignition and dash panel with the ls
The car originally had a sbc 350 so we just used the ignition wire that went to the distributor to power the ECU for keyed power, and we reused all the sensors from the old motor and kept the original gauges.
Why does everyone do Ls ! I would Go old school 400 Sb
Nothing wrong with a good old sbc! But in this case we had most of the things to do the swap and you can’t beat the gas mileage it gets now, we also wanted it to be turn key reliable as its my moms car haha
What throttle body are you using? Currently rebuilding engine and trans.
Actually just using a stock truck Cable throttle body from a 1999-2003 Chevy Silverado
Pan looks ok. I thought she would be hangin low. Good work !
Thanks!
Would it be easier to swap a 454 ho into it?
Maybe, I know it was pretty tight with the exhaust with doing the LS and with a 454 being physically bigger it would just make it harder, the only thing that would be a little easier with the 454 would be the fuel system and the wiring, that said if it was my car and I had a 454 laying around I’d give it a try would be pretty sweet!
I see lose AC hose , will you have air
The heater will work and regular outside air should still work, we never had the ac working with the sbc but would be pretty easy to get it going with all the different brackets they sell for the LS
Awesome project got my 82 getting ready to do a LS7, and you were right about people may comment about that compression fitting for the PS line, um.......if that pops off you got high pressure oil going to spray on the manifolds and cause a serious fire hazard. can you do a inverted flare fittings and flare that tube like a brake line?
That’s awesome! Yeah I’m sure we could have done something like that or even a AN style flare but for now the compression fitting will work for now till we get the right line on there, not saying it’s the right way but in a pinch it works haha
Hood clearance ??
The bottom side of the hood gets pretty close to the intake but there about 3/8 of an inch space in between, and will the modifications to the alternator bracket there’s about the same amount of space
How much did the engine cost?
Well we bought it used (junkyard engine) and it was about $300 and the motor is a 4.8L
Thanks!!
Link to the fuel pump?
I’ll see if I have the box still and I’ll get you the part number tomorrow
Here’s the part number of the fuel pump we used, USEP3906. Hopefully this helps!
@@TuquesNTires Thanks, appreciate it
@@noccis3448 no problem!
Currently doing a 72 with an lt4 and all retro. Rack and pinion and all electric conversion. I’ll post a video next week. Love this
That’s super cool!
