That "cogging" sound is a stripped gear. Either the pinion or Spur gear. I've shredded so many gears with my SLEDGE. I know that sound. Ive shredded 4 pinions and 2 spurs in my SLEDGE in about 10 runs.
@@RCKnockout I have a 19 tooth pinion ( high speed gearing ) in mine and it doesn't make that sound at all. And my grass is THICK. At least 4-5 inches long.
Try the 19 on the 2 s it's the only pinion to be used on 2 s according to traxxas. 40 plus good control. 45 on 3 s with 13 tooth pinion. And you will break your car a hundred times more for just for 5 mph more
Do you have the body on? It’ll almost always flip if you have the body on while attempting a top speed run because the body becomes like a sail and wind gets underneath it.
I just heard you use the word "cogging, cogin" idk the pronunciation but that shuddering is caused by the gearing that is not optimal for that terrain or what is the cause of it?
The actual cause is because Sensorless Brushless motors don’t spin smoothly at low RPMs. Which is why some people put Sensored Brushless motors and esc in their cars. The sensor can basically tell the motor exactly where it needs to be at low rpms. Brushed motors don’t have this issue at all which is why they used brushed motors for a lot of the slow crawler stuff. The cogging would be amplified by the tall gearing though
@@RCKnockout i have never heard that term cogging, i will be looking into that, but your truck seems to be "cogging" bad, i do remember mine doing that "cogging" thing, buti dont remember mine being as bad as your was doing it.
@@jasonbrown467 yeah the cogging at slow speeds is horrible. It even does it on pavement pretty bad. Once you get into grass or on any surface with resistance it’s even worse. It’s really no good for bashing and even on the street it’s not great
I’ve actually just started running a 4s setup on my “100mph Traxxas Slash Project”. It probably is a good idea to go with a metal spur if you’re gonna run on 4s. On 3S I’ve never had an issue with the plastic spur gear
@@rmakin7832 I don’t have much experience. I’ve only tested that metal spur once on road so I don’t feel like I have enough run time to recommend the spur gear I’m running?
i put some mamba monster setup in my slash, it was the 8s kit, not the one with the green moter. and of course i had to run 8s. i had to ditch most plastic on all drive train. it ripped rubber off of wheels and wheels off of hubs. rear a arms had to be aluminum, plastic warped too much under torque. i learned there is such as thing as too much power. it was not a finely tuned machine, pull the trigger to hard and something always broke, it got old.
@@jasonbrown467 yeah when you get into those big ol 8s you have to actually tune and program them with the castle link or they’ll just be living hell trying to use it
I have a Maxx and it started coggin really bad before the motor went. Not that bad and they are different systems. But just a possibility. I was drinking a little when l posted probably not very accurate. You must have it geared to the moon if it can't run threw grass. 👍💪💪

Im good with a 3s lipo 80C on my slash, them pinions just create more heat
Which pinions?
