True, but the workers are still better off with the union than without, although it does, like many unions need dramatic reform in terms of member democracy and longer term vision of the union movement.
A Teamster historically referred to someone who drove a team of animals, such as horses or oxen, pulling a wagon or other equipment. The term originated in the 19th century and was commonly used during the era of horse-drawn transportation. In modern contexts, Teamster primarily refers to a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), a prominent labor union in North America. The IBT represents a wide variety of workers, including those in transportation, logistics, warehousing, and other industries. While the union's roots are in organizing truck drivers and freight handlers, it has since expanded to cover workers in diverse fields. The IBT is known for advocating for workers' rights, fair wages, benefits, and better working conditions through collective bargaining and political activism.
Amazon workers are seriously overpaid for what is essentially casual labor. Didn't the Teamsters just have to back down on another front? Definitely big labor. That is obsolete.
