- Episode 7 - The Yellowstone of Europe and Forest of Immortal Stories. In this episode we’re making our way through the Făgăraș mountain range, which is the highest section of the Southern Carpathians. It holds some of the world’s last virgin forests which have remained untouched for thousands of years. This is also our first project, a rewilding project with one of our partners, Mossy Earth. This area of the world has many stories to tell and big plans for the future! It was an adventure just getting to the project site! The project includes reforestation, using the latest technology to monitor wildlife and stop poaching, implementing a wide range of measures to mitigate human-wildlife conflict and wildlife reintroductions.
We start on the Transfăgărășan Highway, Clarkson from Top Gear declared it as the best driving road in the world. After leaving the Transfagasaran, we’re very much off grid, off-road and wild camping in this one with bears, wolves and lynxes in the area. There’s another story in here too that we were lucky and grateful to stumble upon.
If you'd like to know more about us, Project Wild Earth, The Projects and how this all came about, click here: projectwildearth.com/ For our journey, we are driving Jane, our INEOS Grenadier, and live in a Patriot X3 Trailer so we can travel off-road to remote locations and be off-grid for long periods of time.
Thank you for coming along on our journey!

Such a beautiful country hopefully one day I'll be able to visit this side of Romania and watching your journey gives me even more will to do it as soon as possible.
Romania is still very much a hidden gem. Go now before that changes…
Really enjoyed this. I’ve often flown over these mountains and seen the hundreds of miles of indigenous forests, in autumn in particular they are spectacular. So interesting and intriguing to envisage a Yellowstone of Europe. Thank you for bringing us along as always.
Glad you enjoyed this one! We know how it is to fly over areas and want to learn more. : ) The concept of a Yellowstone of Europe is pretty epic and they're well on their way to making it a reality!
ImRomanian . Thank you for this movie.
No problem at all. We hope you enjoyed it. You come from a beautiful country!
Great work. Blessed children. Wise parents.
Thanks so much Joseph! 🙏
What a lovely video you are doing great work, thank you. Nature is definitely a healer and even if we can’t all get to these places, it is good just to know that these wild places still exist and hopefully grow. The mayor is a real good soul and along with mossy earth doing a great service to nature. Any plans to go to Bulgaria? Look forward to the next one, safe travels
Thanks for your support and kind words! Like you say, it would be great if we could all access all of these wild areas but we know that's not possible. At the same time, just being in nature, anywhere has very similar benefits. This has been proven time and time again all over the world with a number of people in several different situations and circumstances.
The Mayor is a very special soul, we're glad that came across in the video. The group of people working together in that area are all working very hard to rewild and regenerate that area and make this world a better place for us all. As for Bulgaria, watch this space!
@@projectwildearth That is encouraging stuff. We have a place in a very remote part of southern Bulgaria that we are renovating with natural products, lots of nature there. If you’re heading to the Rodopes let us know. We are trying to get involved in local conservation efforts and you would be welcome. All the best
Ive been chatting with two Romanians here at High Wycombe and they’ve recommended all sorts of things in Romania.
The fact that you’re doing it now is bizarre.
Can’t wait to drive that way in August.
💪🥰
Hi Mike, you’ll love it! The fact that we’ve just done it is just the universe working its magic for you. 😉
You need to do an ALL KIDS VIDEO
Isn't Sarek called the last true wilderness of Europe?
There’s still a few left across Europe which is great! As our title suggests, this area in the Făgăraș Mountains is just one them. 😊
