+Thor Underdunk Caballerial I am with you here! As a patient-turned-victim of three powerful psychiatric drugs taken less than two weeks on a fateful night six years ago, Mixed Irritable Bowel Syndrome along with Moderate Food-Beverage Allergies are just two of the 26 physical and psychological intense illnesses I have.
I have a problem with bloating too. Cause I was born constipated and for very long I had a very very huge colon that makes me look pregnant great to hear someone can relate
Yeah it smells worse tho, we just out a tube down into the class throat to release the air and the smell of it makes me almost throw up, and I’m not a sensitive stomach either 😂
How i wish we had this equipment and experts in my village back than (15 years ago). I lost three cows due to bolted stomach. It was like curse and there was nothing we could do. Only if there were internet access we could have saved a lot of them. It was painful to see them dying helplessly. This 10 years old used to pamper them hoping that they will find slightest of comfort on their death.
There is a cut garden hose down the throat procedure...careful not to get the trachea to the lungs and keep pushing all the way back until you get gas...then use a funnel to put about 2 or 3 quarts of mineral oil down there and remove the hose!
I have seen so many of these animals living in pure muddy conditions. I am surprised they are not sick all the time.I grew up on a farm with cows and our cows had clean stalls .No muddy places to stand .They had wide open clean grassy fields and a big shed under the barn if it rained.
Did you have 250+ head of cattle? I'm going to say no. Any lrg herd w/ constant input/output makes for this type of living conditions. There is simply no way around it. Unless, of course you lived in the desert.
paul dow bloat is usually caused by lush or high quality food being eaten too quickly and it ferments in the gut too fast causing much more gas than drier, older feeds. It happens a lot during the spring or on feedlot/dairy setting where the cattle get high quality feed. It happens in show cattle quite a bit because you feed them lots of high protein and high sugar grain with lush forage like alfalfa. It can happen during a drastic change in feed as well.
Broken Medic Gas can cause such awful, significant pain (humans routinely mistake the pain of extreme and unyielding gas in the upper area of the abdomen just below the chest with the pain caused by a possible heart attack) AND can even end in fatality, that I would not pass up a trocar if it was the only way to get relief OR ESPECIALLY save my life!
Thank you Dr. Emily! The animal had to be suffering as its breath & air was slowly cut off- just the pain from the lung pressure- then not being able to breathe would be a nightmare for this poor animal. GRT JOB Dr!!!
We keep Bloat Guard on hand just for this reason. Small bottle, pour down their throat and they're burping withing 30 seconds. No trocar or vet needed. Had a jersey that used to sneak into the grain bin if the kids left it open. Sometimes caused her to bloat. The Bloat Guard worked everytime. Easy as picking it up at the feed store or on line. About $7 a bottle. Cheaper and faster than a vet when minutes count.
Wow! You can actually hear the gas coming out.! Theres a few dinners I've had I wish a pinhole to do the same! Of course if the Bloat effects the lungs, seems like it would be easy to get pneumonia.
Fun fact: if you have a lighter, the gas coming out will turn the flame blue! The flame doesn’t go into the animal because the pressure inside is greater than the pressure outside.
This cow probably got bloat from eating green succulent foods like lucerne, clover and spring grass and overeating due to the palatability of the feed. The farmer needs to reduce the amount of concentrate he feeds his cows and increase their roughage intake.
Bri Elli corn also creates a stable environment for E.Coli bacteria to thrive, which actually contaminates their meat if you’re planning on using them for food. I don’t think it’s legal for people to feed cows corn unless they’re not keeping them for consumption purposes. The whole E.Coli thing had already killed quite a few people when it was first discovered
Learn your facts mate before you write its A LOT more likely to see bloat in grass fed cattle than grain fed cattle. Fresh lush grass is the worst to blow cattle
@@TarmanTheChampion Not toally true. Not many dairy cows are used for meat unless it is a small, family farm. Most large, factory farms are either meat or dairy farms
I suspect it's the time pressure--it sounds like it could kill him pretty quickly, especially with his lungs already compromised with pneumonia. No time to let the anesthesia kick in?
As someone with Irritable Bowel Syndrome who gets bloated with gas, I greatly sympathise with this cow. It may be my spirit animal.

Same here bro.....when i was a kid we had cows ..... sometimes they would eat garbage and get bloated . The young cows usually died
Jagan Bhagabati my great grandpa had a farm and it was common knowledge to poke your cows with a screwdriver if they got bloated. Where ways you farm?
What we do is tube the steers n our farm. my uncle once put a knife in and got the air out that way too. Not the greatest idea, but it worked.

Sometimes the ground itself turn muddy when it rains and there is nothing you can do about it.
Not much you can do when it rains for a week nonstop! We have farm ... there’s just much you can do. Cows are messy !
The mud also makes their hooves rot easier

I feel bad for that cow... a bloat AND pneumonia??? That sucks
I would hazard bloating may have partially caused pneumonia.
What causes bloating in a well managed cow ?

Imagine having gas and your doctor “screws” a valve to your abdomen.

that pig at the came to see if the cow was okay

I'm sure that doesn't feel good...
It might hurt but in the end, if the operation wasn't done, it would feel much, much worse later
Nati H Cows have really thick hide and skin so to them it probably just feels like being pricked by a needle.
If it wasn’t done the cow would have died a slow painful death.
But all that gas coming out must’ve felt amazing
Yeah the gas release came very quickly after and the relief would negate all that pain I reckon.

This is part of the reason grass feeding cows is better; they're less likely to bloat than cows fed corn based feed.
no they're more likely to bloat on grass, especially when there are legumes in the mix.
