      Welcome to the club buddy, you´re not the only one who feels way too old watching this videos. I frequently visited arcade games and the sad thing is the business is far from the golden era, circa 1980-1990.

    I know I might be engaging in heresy here but I like this ending better. The whole concept of fighting a physical manifestation of your desire for vengeance is deep and profound. Furthermore, it also shows that despite all your efforts, Marion is still dead.

    • @SarahConnor618
      @SarahConnor618 10 лет назад +7

      yes - i agree with you - but nintendo wouldn't allow such things. however, the nes version is still superiour when you consider gameplay and level design.

    • @user-hj5yg5tl3t
      @user-hj5yg5tl3t 9 лет назад +4

      Both endings were good in their own way. While the NES game's slow-mo/monochrome finale (along with the final speech) were great, the Arcade version tells a very deep story without even using any words.

      i used to hate this when i was younger, but as i got older i started to appreciate it more, it's more realistic, darker, and just fits the tone of the games better imo

      Sarah Connor for me the gameplay and level design in NES Double Dragon games isn't (wasn't) as important as how they look graphically (visually) and the audio, music, sound

    Fantastic memories of hard playing and coin spending a few years ago..first time I remember I found quite scary some of the sounds, like the laughter of the disapperaring-and-reapperaing monster and the big guy with suspenders..this said, performing the flying spin kick repeatedly on the coinop was not easy..

    Actually, I saw clips of "Double Dragon Extreme" just a few weeks ago. And I saw the Shadow Warrior's sprites. He looks pretty cool. I would have liked to have seen him in the arcades though. But that was then. And nowadays I guess we really can't expect too much.

    I remember the shadow having a "ku, ku, ku" kind of laugh when he vanished off screen. The game sound is probably not perfectly emulated unlike the lag.

    • @Syklonus
      @Syklonus 4 года назад +2

      You're wrong. There was never any sound like that when he vanished. What you may be thinking of is when the shadow enters the player's body and damages it.

  • @MDthornton83
    @MDthornton83 17 лет назад

    It's funny how some of the enemies just jumped to their deaths off the screen. You play very well. I always wondered about the Doppelgangers' origin. It's interesting how in the arcade version, the final boss is a ghostly phantom twin of Billy. And in the NES version, the final boss is the Shadow Warrior.

    @AbhiB The NES version is the one where she comes back to life. I guess the ending of this version is supposed to make you feel bad that Marian is dead (hence the tear), even though you did get revenge.

  • @MDthornton83

    Yeah. Because this is the original arcade version of DD II. And since this came out before the NES version, the Shadow Master didn't make an appearance. But then the staff and programers of the NES port decided to change it a little by adding the Shadow Master who you fight after the phantoms are defeated.

  • @setsers1
    @setsers1 11 лет назад +1

    Both Versions Are Great to Me!
    Arcade Because It looks better and The enemies are cooler and some make an appearance in the game.
    And NES Because Of The Final Boss music

  • @PatrickLewOfficial
    @PatrickLewOfficial 16 лет назад

    Personally, I prefer the NES version. But DD2 in the Arcades was a good game also. I think the Sound and Graphics for the Double Dragon 2 arcade version was awesome for a video game that was released in 1988. I played this game in the Arcades at age 4 with my older brother, the ending was more gloomy than the NES one though.

    This version of D.D. 2 is simply awesome, and I have the arcade machine to it, which I use as my Jamma cabinet. Even though this game was pretty much an enhanced remake of the first D.D. for the arcade, it's still great, with it having better gameplay, and enemies, and all. Only Double Dragon Advance, and the awesome D.D. 2 on the Turbo Duo beat this game, when it comes to Double Dragon, in my opinion.
