    I've been reading the entire Poirot series in publication order and I'm almost done! The Clocks is my next one to read. I too prefer these editions. Thanks for the tour, I feel like there isn't as much love for Christie on RUclips as there should be.

    Get ready for a bit of a rant-
    I love those covers! I have a few myself. Unfortunately, some of the titles are no longer available in these editions from any online bookshops! I think this is because Harper Collins have released newer covers, which are still lovely but they don't match my current editions! Now if I buy certain Agatha christie books such as Peril at End House or Dead Man's Folly (examples of books no longer available in your edition) its going to look awkward on the shelf. I'm going to have an assortment of different editions in different sizes to one another:(
    Well, at least the stories are fantastic which is the main thing really!:)

    All those books are so beautiful! I just re-read "Five Little Pigs"and I loved it even more- it's so interesting and the end very thrilling and creepy. I also love The ABC Murders and Appointment With Death....I love all of Agatha Christie's novels, maybe my least favourite is "The Big Four", it just didn't feel like it is written by her, it's quite different from her other works...

    My first Poirot story was actually Black Coffee two years ago. It wasn't until this year that I really got into Poirot, starting with Orient Express in preparation for the new film. I was always aware of it and wanted to read it, so I finally did, and I liked it. Then, of course I went back and started the series from the beginning. I just finished re-reading Black Coffee, which was good. I've also seen some of the David Suchet adaptations, and find he is very good as Poirot. In fact, from what I've seen so far, I'd say he is to Poirot was Jeremy Brett was to Sherlock Holmes.

    I so need to read more Poirot! I've only read the Mystery of the Blue Train. Are you excited for the new Murder of the Orient Express film? It has a good cast but Kenneth Branagh's Poirot moustache looks rather silly from the trailers!

    • @lilsvintageworld
      @lilsvintageworld  7 лет назад +6

      Being honest no, just from the trailer he unfortunately does not look like Poirot, not just the mustache (which is ridiculous) but the way which he is dressed and even the way he is stood, Agatha is very clear on Poirot's character and mannerisms, however I don't want to go into the film with negative thoughts so I am a bit apprehensive but will give it a good go.

      You never get tired of Ariadne when she pops up. And of course, it's Christie's real take on how she RRREEEALLLY felt about writing! And it's always genuinely funny.

  • @StephenHoltShow
    @StephenHoltShow 7 лет назад +5

    Dear Lil, Love your channel! I was THRILLED that Ariadne Oliver is your favorite character is Ariadne Oliver, as she is mine! How about a video on the novels she's in, so it's easier to find her. Christie could've made her into a detective or a larger character, but she didn't. Guess she felt it would've been TOO inside baseball, as they say here in the States.

    I just finished reading Murder of Roger Ackroyd and rewatching the adaptation, this was definitely one where I like the book more than the adaptation but I still really like the adaptation, I feel like they didn't change it too much. One thing I will say though is knowing the twist beforehand did irritate me throughout reading but I still enjoyed it. Next up is the Big Four and I think I'll be able to get to Murder on the Orient Express right in time for the new movie. I think the trailer for it looked great except Kenneth Branagh's moustache for Poirot is laughably too big in my opinion lol. Great shelf tour, it really makes me look forward to continuing my Poirot journey 😀.

    • @lilsvintageworld
      @lilsvintageworld  7 лет назад

      If you know the twist to Murder of Roger Ackroyd it really does change your reading experiance, such a shame, I am sure you will love murder on the orient express though, when you get to it, are you reading them in order?
