I had a lot of fun making this song and I'm happy with how it turned out so let me know what you guys think!!
I feel like there was almost too much to write about for the lyrics. There's luck, hope, talent, the events of the game, homosexual tendencies 👀, etc. I tried to fit a bit of it all in but I focused on luck and his utter lack of sanity with a healthy dose of HOPE so I HOPE it conveys that aspect of his character well!!
Just want to point out that some of the images in the video are low resolution because it's hard to find high quality sources, but I figured it would be fine since the majority is good and it's more about the music than anything. If it bothers you though let me know and I'll be more careful in the future.

It's such a huge improvement in terms of instrumentals and lyrics overtime; even though I KNEW this was going to be great, it still absolutely BLEW MY EXPECTATIONS from how fitting and crazy this song is (it represents nagito so well and does him justice to the point im HOPElessly in love with it, will definitely listen to it plenty of times)!!!!!!
Really excited for this one. Nagito would have so much potential for you, since you love doing people’s arcs, and his is mostly his backstory. And with a song title of “Lucky Me”, I can tell it’s going to be insane and saddening.

You did not fail to deliver an absolute banger for Nagito's song, it was perfectly Nagito.
Edit: Specifically the 'like a roller-coaster that never ends, I keep thinking it'll crash, but the tracks just bend.' That line personifies' Nagito's life so well it's scary.
Not to mention the grape/strawberry house roller coaster, and the Final Dead Room Nagito finds himself in.
The "crash" part also makes me think about how theyre all inside the alter ego program and he wishes it CRASHED with them inside

Yup, he thinks his life is gonna fall apart and then he gets good luck, there's so many examples I'm not even gonna list them all, but a tamer example is his intro in the anime with the truck and the vending machine
I like how at 2:32 Nagito talks about the happy times while showing the cast, but when Hajime shows up he doesn't say anything since he learned that Hajime do not have any talent and therefore isn't of interest anymore

@@kokichiouma1148 That logic counts on Nagito being a rational and sensible human being, and not a fanatic obsessed with his particular ideals of hope and despair. I'm not sure you have the best grasp on his character.
I am going to be brutally honest when I say that this is one of my favorite instrumentals to a song in general. If I could describe the tone in one word, it would be turmoil. It's a weird mix of joy and deep disturbance at the same time. With Nagito's twisted ideology of achieving absolute righteousness in the name of hope, despair lingers within as he ignores the ethics of murder, disregards the outcome of his friends, and has difficulty differentiating right from wrong.
And how does he cope with this? He uses his self-hatred as a beacon for his fellow classmates to achieve their ultimate desire and pleasure: hope. But with his mind so warped, despair still manages to creep into every crevice, and the instrumental manages to do just that.
Sorry for this long analysis, but you should be proud of yourself. This is honestly so well-crafted and beautifully constructed!

@@Connyioi think it means for hope to die just to be revived again (through nagito or anyone else) and restart the cycle
(or it refers to trials where somebody dies but it pretty much ties to 'hope' with what i originally said above, sorry for trying to answer on the creator's behalf but i wanted to help :') )

ok the fact that you're also the one who made "cause i'm a liar" for Kokichi. Pure respect
I love how this song just takes a deep dive into how Nagito felt during Danganronpa 2 and how his mindset is. How tragic his character is, how he is unsure of his own worth and wanting to live. How “controlling” luck is his only (and extremely unhealthy) way of coping. The lyric of “Like a roller coaster that never ends. I keep thinking that it’ll crash! but the tracks just bend.” That lyric really fits Nagito and his mindset.
I also love the subtle change at the end when he discovers the truth and decides to try to end the game by taking himself out with everyone but the traitor (Chiaki) going down with him. From saying “Lucky me!” To “Unlucky me…” is so subtle, and impactful. He’s trying to do what’s right, but his methods and ways of trying to do the right thing will always blow up in his face because of his belief in his luck system. His never ending cycle or good and bad luck.
And near the end of the song all the lyrics slightly change to become more depressing like how goes from “thinking” to wishing about the rollercoaster crashing and if we go by what rollercoasters are in the game, everyone has to get on it showing how he wishes all of the despair died.
this is a specific thing to praise but i love the use of “meaningless” in the lyrics!! a callback to what he said in chapter one!! “'Meaningless'... No other word is more despair-inducing than that.” there’s just so much attention to detail and care put into this song!! love it forever 💖🫀❤️🔥💖❤️🔥🫀💖✨✨✨‼️‼️‼️

The lyrics are so good!!! I think everything after 2:10 is just golden, you showed Nagito's emotions about learning they were all despairs so well! I especially liked "I realized nothing here is real not those resolute ideals nor those blissful happy times nor the hope I thought I'd find" and the part where the lyrics change to "I keep wishing it'll crash". And my heart broke at the end, "It's too late to save me." Nagito is such a twisty, turning character, but you captured him perfectly in my opinion!! I really liked it!!!

I literally love this so much- it truely protrays Nagito's ideals! It goes from "I hope im sacrificed for hope, because thats all im good for" to "I will sacrifice myself for hope because thats all im good for" to finally, "I will be hope because of my sacrifice." Honestly, its a beautiful wording. Really goes to show how fucked up Nagito really is, yet how much the writers really did him justice.

Just some cute little details I noticed I thought I should mention...
1. "All locked and loaded" referring to the gun in Russian Roulette, along with being a common saying, also refers to how ALL chambers were loaded except one.
2. "Nor the hope I thought I'd find" while Hajime's sprite flashes... This man so gay off his ass even Mcki puts it in the fansong
I can feel Nagito's personality and story through each and every line. It's phenomenally written.
And the delivery, I am speechless, it all flows so well, almost naturally.

Not gonna lie, I've never heard the Yuma voice before, but it fits Nagito really well! Everything else about the song is also great! Keep it up!

(“Demanding a sacrifice… Alright!”)>nagito sees hope and despair as this exchange basically, where a high amount of hope means that a high amount of despair will surely come afterwards - which is wrong, because you can’t fairly exchange something as vague as hope and despair, and the universe isn’t as linear as that, nor is it fair.
hope is just that: hope, and so is despair, but nagito has this entire idea on how it works, as a way to justify to himself that every terrible thing he’s been through happened only because of the cycle he made up, like a coping mechanism of some kind, that no matter how badly his luck treats him, there’ll always be something good to come out of it
(“Like a rollercoaster that never ends, I keep thinking it’ll crash! But the tracks just bend…”)>AND THIS LINE HITS SO HARD BTW ITS SO OH MY GOD ITS LITERALLY HIM IN ONE SENTENCE. THIS ANALOGY IS SO INTERESTING??
how his bad luck causes him to nearly lose his life multiple times and cause the rollercoaster of life to crash, only to be saved by his good luck as part of the cycle - then the cycle repeats over and over again, never stopping, just like a rollercoaster.
his life has up and downs too, similar to a rollercoaster’s tracks, which bend due to the influence of his luck. tracks aren’t supposed to bend, and I’m referring to ‘normal’ people - but his luck is so strong, that it ‘bends’ the tracks in an unnatural way, as proven by the fact that he’s not supposed to live this long: what with the freak accidents that threaten his life, as well as his clinical conditions, but his luck continues to bend the tracks of life, allowing him to live longer.
and how you show his mood rapidly changing, from smiling to crazed and back to smiling once he realised his mistake. because earlier in the game he was still relatively tamereally dig this because he’s still acting tame, but lets loose a little while still managing to sound calm and unsuspecting. and the vocabulary just used for the lyrics sound exactly like how he speaks, especially when you add the “aha…” LIKE
this line refers to nagito toeing on the line between acting virtuous and good, and being depraved at the same time which is how other people see him. he’s acting with everybody’s best interests in mind, meaning he’s being virtuous, but the way he goes about it is depraved and insane
(“It’s so enthralling I can’t help but laugh…!”)>here we see how he completely removed the façade he’d been using, as he finally revealed the insanity that lied underneath during the first trial.
(“Oh lucky me! Another tragedy! To propel blind faith into my sanity…!”)>the lyrics are SO smart too because he’s referencing his luck cycle, how he’s lived tragedy after tragedy, blindly putting all his faith into hope and basically worshipping it, as his sanity slowly reduces like how we see in the game
(“I’ll happily indulge catastrophe! Until that vile despair’s crushed and the true hope shines!”)> i just really like this line. he’s willing to do anything, just for the true hope he’s been searching for his entire life

And venture forwards till weakness and death becomes meaningless!”) > basically believing that as long as you can achieve true hope, nothing else matters, and anything is acceptable if you’re using/doing it to achieve true hope - including death. and references the disturbing way he was acting in the first trial, offering himself up as fresh meat and volunteering to help the killer finish himself off

Melting the stars away…”)>THIS IS SO SMART TOO AND ITS DEF A REFERENCE TO THE FIFTH TRIAL. the stars referencing the ultimates who shine brightly like stars, and melting maybe referring to either the fire in the warehouse, or the way the stars are slowly melting as more and more people die
(“So? This is destiny! It’s heavenly! All this death just proves you’re worthy! See?”)>showing no remorse for all the killings that have occurred because he believes it was for a better cause - for such beacons of hope to get destroyed just means that an even brighter hope will happen in the face of despair that comes from their deaths
no talentless or ordinary person could bring that much amount of hope, so nagito sees it as an honour to be killed for the sake of hope, basically seeing it as being ‘worthy’ and even seeming ecstatic over the idea
(“So let’s rise again! Let’s fight again! Let’s fail again! Then die again…!”)>again, showing his twisted mindset, and how he feels about the killings. i think any remorse he may feel is completely shadowed by the promise of a brighter hope, and he even encourages the cycle to continue. it may seem insane and cruel for any normal person, but nagito’s life has been far from normal, and this kind of mindset is completely normal for him
in fact, he’s said that he doesn’t get why the others think of him as ‘strange’, and he thinks that they’re the strange ones for thinking that
(“Hate me! Berate me! Elate me!”)>this verse changing while earlier it was: *{“Use me! Abuse me! Reduce me!”}*

his ‘dream’ being horizonless is referring to him clinging onto the bright and limitless hope, dreaming of one day finally finding the true hope that he so yearns for
(“All locked and loaded… Such is my fervent devotion.”) the funhouse and russian roulette, putting his life on the line, because of his fervent devotion for a bright and true hope (maybe referencing him shooting all his devotion and hope into the gun, that he quite literally shoots at his own head?); seeing his life as so meaningless which is why it was so easy for him to nearly throw it away, devoted in achieving hope
(“I realise nothing here is real. Not those resolute ideals. Nor those blissful, happy times…”)>feeling betrayed that the people he worshipped and saw as true hope, turned out to be his worst enemy, he quickly abandoned all care for them
all the fun times he’s had are all meaningless, now that hes figured out the truth, and we can see him treating hajime cruelly in the game because of this, conflicted that he was a reserve course student.
he sees the talentless as a waste of space, trash that leech off of the bright hope of the ultimates, which is why he was so disgusted by this discovery
but this mindset is also contradictory because he views himself as trash as well, the lowest of the low, and yet he still believes himself to be above the talentless because of his luck
and also his entire worldview just shattered, finding out that the hope he’s spent his entire life trying to find and create, never existed in the first place since he’s an ultimate despair. naturally, since he’s despair, he has to destroy himself and everybody else so true hope will be born from it. to him, this is the desirable outcome, and nothing else matters except for ‘defeating despair’
(“Nor the hope I thought I’d find…!”) hits hard because the reason he’s at hope’s peak in the first place was to find a bright, true hope that could eliminate any despair. it’s also what he’s been living for and yearning for his entire life after such tragic experiences because of his luck
and just when he thought he’s found it, he realised that they were all despairs the entire time, and his entire world crumbles.
(“Like a rollercoaster that never ends, I keep wishing it would crash! But the tracks just bend…”)>this, and the same one in the beginning are my favorite parts of the song ngl.
wishing it would crash basically means he just wants it all to end already - after the confusion, betrayal, and disgust he’s feeling, he just wants to get off the ride already as he had nothing to cling to anymore, but the tracks keep bending as a result of his luck

earlier in the song: *{“I’m rising! I’m falling! I’m clinging! I’m dying! I’m- Oh…”}* the spot the differences in this song is so COOL DUDE
(“Where does malice end and benevolence start?”)>we can see him losing his sanity here, almost like he’s continuing his thought from earlier *{“Where does virtue end and depravity start?”}* they’re both similar, but the latter one is more of an innocent, absentminded thought, while the former is more menacing and unhinged. this is SUCH A SMART THING TO DO IN A SONG WHAT
this specific lyric also refers to all the malice he has, the malice in which he tries to get rid of all the ultimate despairs, and the malice in the way he formed an intricate plan for his own death to get everybody else killed, including the bombing of the lobby
the second part of this lyric: throughout his entire life, his one true wish is to be understood, which means that he wants to be forgiven in an act of benevolence from the others
(“It’s so atrocious I can’t help but laugh…”) is a sharp contrast to the earlier *{“It’s so enthralling I can’t help but laugh…!”}* AND THESE CHANGES IN THE LYRICS ARE SO SMART. the differences in his mindset from the beginning of the game and the ending of the game, is clearly shown in this song, where it ALSO progresses in the same way the game does.
as the song starts with the scenes before monokuma arrived, and the scene of hajime meeting nagito for the first time, it’s like the listeners are getting to know nagito for the first time as well, and being steadily exposed to his true, twisted behavior as the song progresses, just like how they showed us in the game
the song is just basically the listeners getting to know him fully as a character, complete with his background, ideologies, and his actions throughout the entire game, being exposed to his twisted mindset and the song ends at the same time nagito’s life does; so this song could also be seen as nagito’s perspective throughout the entire game and now that I’m writing this I’m realising it’s definitely just nagito’s perspective..
(“As the putrid truth tramples my futile dreams.”) realised his dreams were all futile in the end after discovering the harsh truth, when earlier he was hopeful, wanting to achieve it no matter the cost *{“And fulfill my horizonless dream…!”}*

and we can see him wanting to be praised and worshipped for his deeds, because he’s doing the world a favour by eradicating every last bit of despair

(“This emptiness, this pain, it’s all meaningless!”)>no matter how badly he’s hurting, or how empty he felt after discovering the truth, it’s all meaningless since he’ll sacrifice everybody for the sake of a brighter hope, which instantly makes everybody okay. just like before, we see him trying to justify every horrible thing, because he wants to achieve hope
*{”And venture forwards till weakness and death becomes meaningless!”}* >referencing an earlier line, we can now see that nagito has gone way beyond the point of weakness and death, as he calls it all meaningless now
(“Poison me then you’ll see that hope will vanquish everything! That’s all I have left to believe…”)>even after attempting to kill everybody with his suicide, he’s still hoping that they’ll understand why he did so, by seeing the hope that will vanquish everything, it will justify the means
and:
when everything crumbles down before him, he still hangs onto his ‘futile dreams’ and still propelling ‘blind faith’ into his sanity, *{“To propel blind faith into my sanity…!”}* because it’s everything he’s ever known. he worships hope and clings onto it as a way to justify all the terrible things he’s went through because of his luck cycle, and this creates a twisted mindset that slowly got worse as we can see in his actions during the fifth trial.
and it also is a direct reference to *{“Step on me till you see that hope will vanquish everything. That’s what I’ve always believed…!”}* >as his mindset isn’t as twisted as it was during the fifth trial. and omg it’s so interesting to see such different changes to the lyrics because it changes the meaning as a whole while still managing to sound the same if that makes sense

my god I’ve been here for a WHILE but let me just say this is a masterpiece, and I’m not just saying it to flatter you, i genuinely mean it. the way the earlier lines and later lines in the song are directly contrasted, it just makes the listeners think “oh I never noticed that before” on the first listen, but it becomes more noticeable after you listen to it a couple times, like a really good mystery book (or the danganronpa trials..)
