SO this took a bit longer than expected to get done for various reasons, including that I was really struggling with the lyrics. I think (?) I portrayed her character alright in the lyrics but it definitely focuses more on the mastermindy stuff than the cosplay. Let me know what you think!!
I don't have any DRV3 songs in the works atm, but I am working on a Your Turn to Die character song and I'm open to doing other characters if there's high demand!! Let me know who you'd want a song for in the comments :D

I'm halfway sure it's intentional but I love how tsumugi struggles to fit in "perfect fiction" within the beat, it feels slightly desperate in a very cool way, that or it's just a cool effect idk I'm no music doctor

This is song is very accurate to her character. Especially the parts where she says that she is just an accomplice with no actual identity. It really goes to show that here entire character was consumed by Danganronpa. It was everything to her, to the point where she was barely much of a person.
Her talent suits her too. Since she views herself as plain and without much in the way of character, she imitates those that do. Cosplay is her way of escaping her own perceived flaws. Additionally, Junko is her idealized version of what she believes would make her interesting. Therefore, she emulates her the most. Ironically, Tsumugi's desire to perpetuate the show is not very accurate to Junko's own personality, since Junko wanted to fall into despair herself instead of winning. Really, it just further demonstrates how much Tsumugi relied on the show to give herself an identity. A poor imitation of someone she desired to be. In the end, she was a victim to her own obsession.
Of course, I could be wrong about all of this. Feel free to say that I am.

As a musician this song is absolutely fascinating. It feels like a beat is skipped when she sings "its such", and it sounds odd... but then you listen to it more and realize that its completely intentional. It's Tsumugi "skipping" from her role as someone involved to mastermind.
The ending too... not even a cadence, the sudden ending is so abrupt and gives the feeling of "wait... there's more, right?" But there isn't, thats the end.
Tbh, the end of the song gave the same feeling that the end of the game did.
it's pure genious, song is truly made to fit the character and their story as much as possible
The beat skip feels like a tv rewinding to me fitting with the whole tv show thing
You know, out of all villains, Shirogane took losing with the most grace in the end. Really does make me think she Genuinely believed that is what people wanted in the end.

to be fair, this is perfect in every way for tsumugi. call this overanalyzing, but the song itself is such a accurate representation of her as a character? like? i’ve got so much on my mind i need to separate this into bullet points lmao
1. the song doesn’t have too many major drops or beats, it’s rather _plain_ (if you catch my eye). even at the chorus it’s not a major drop, it’s just like tsumugi, plain and basic. but that’s what makes it so good, because it doesn’t have much going on (till the end that is). it goes a pitch or so higher, and it’s a more sped up (at least i think it is?) which is very symbolic of v3’s ending and her sudden reveal as the mastermind imo.
2. the choice of lyrics towards the end:
“what’s a lie? what’s the truth?” because it reminds me of “what’s a lie? is it lies? only lies?” which is from kokichi’s song, so maybe a small reference to their unsaid rivalry? just me? yeah okay i’ll take my leave-
3. the song abruptly ending was a nice homage to the rock that just came out of no where to kill mugi, lol.
4. i can’t tell if this one is intentional or not, but the vocaloid used for this song (gumi) is the same one who sang the original “copycat” (if you haven’t heard it, i recommend it sm it’s an awesome song) and copycat is very fitting for tsumugi’s character tbh.
5. this is completely unrelated, but wow that “i’m just an accomplice to the synopsis” is so catchy djdisoskw, man i can’t wait to put this song on loop every morning.
tl;dr: mcki robyns-p is a lyrical genius and needs more

The build up to the "I'm just an accomplice to the sypnosis" (which, yeah ur right it's such a good line) is just sinister. Like an unknowable but ever present hunter on the prowl. And instead of the buildup exploding at it's peak, it continues, slowly descalating in a controlled manner. Almost pacifing. Like she's misdirecting our suspicion of her intent as a mastermind. And also speaking of her detachment from the high emotional intensity of th3e killing game,, this song did tsumgi so much justice
TBH, "What's a lie? What's the truth?" reminds me more of "That's a lie! No it's true!" from Hiding from the Truth.
@@nightmare3642 actually, i was considering referencing that too (1. since it makes more sense, 2. it ties two of my favorite characters of all time) but for some reason when i reheard the song to quote the exact lyric i didn’t catch that one particular line, so i resorted to the other lyric that had been drilled into my head lmao (which is a mistake on my part). either way, thanks for sharing your interpretation! i appreciate it a lot :D

I think one thing that goes rather unnoticed in these songs is the typography. I have to admit, I didn't like it at first but then it hit me: it wasn't meant to be attractive or make you feel some kind of way. The overused Aerial (that's what I'm assuming) doesn't make you feel anything, it's just..plain. Like Tsumugi. Every single font style symbolizes their character: The impact font has a lot of weight to it, symbolizing Kokichi's desperate need for attention while Kaede's rather soft, lightweight font symbolizes her kindness and purity. The Aerial font is a reference to Tsumugi constantly saying how plain and boring she is.
But the moment we realize she is the mastermind, we get this geometric, compelling font, reflecting on her excitement for continuing the killing game and forming a new identity. Nice job as always! This is might be my favorite!

A few other people pointed out that when the words "its such" are said the beat skips suddenly. Looking through the lens of typography we can see that the words "it's such" are actually in Arial while the rest of the chorus is in the cool font. It kinda supports the idea she's skipping over her own personality for the cool shiny mastermind one. To me it kinda feels like she's stamping her personality down.
I think what's even better about the second font is that I think it's just a hollowed out version of Arial - like the outlines. I don't know how to describe it - perfectly mirroring how Tsumugi threw away her own personality for Danganronpa.
@@hanah4k1 Yeah, the typography used for her mastermind mode is a transparent Ariel with an outline, I think it could mean that she erased her personality to put something above it, a fake one, but at the same time you can't make an outline of nothing, so maybe I am overthinking this, but this could mean that she tries to erase her personality to the maximum but no matter how much she tries, no matter how much she replicate someone, there will be always a hint for her personality.

Finally, a fan song for my favourite V3 character.
Tsumugi is a really unique villain because of the absolute control she has over the murders. In comparison to Junko, who puts people in equally awful situations to see what they'll do (to each other) to escape it; Tsumugi leaves little to chance, planning out murders seemingly in advance of the whole game. Look at chapter 3:
The chapter opens with the opening of the 4th floor; containing the empty classrooms and Kiyo & Angie's labs. The necronomicon is stated as the motive of the chapter, but this is at least mostly a lie; the real motive is the ritual book in Kiyo's lab, which awakens his memories as a murderer like what happened with Kirumi. The 4th floor also contains all the tools for him to perform his seance murder, so by the time the floor opens he's already planning.
The necronomicon does keep Angie in her lab though, on the same floor as Kiyo. This makes her the prime target, especially when their work schedules lead to them going to the empty rooms at the same time.
What's more is that the empty class rooms are set up such that Tsumugi could climb under the floorboards in one room to move to the seance room and "confirm" Kiyo's kill, if it ended up failing like Kaede's.
None of this was left up to chance because not only did Tsumugi design the floor, she also wrote up everyone's personalities and gave them their ultimate talents; allowing her to predict every move they made well in advance of so much as meeting them. Victims & killers were already decided before anyone stepped foot in the Academy.
But that's also her big weakness, and why she eventually loses hold of things. She plans so far ahead of time & implements those plans through the Academy's architecture and everyone's initial personality insertion, that she has few ways to keep things on track mid game. And as soon as one thing goes off track in her finely crafted machine, it bumps into everything else. And bless her heart, she tires to improvise, but she is not good at it.
Good thing she had a heck of a back-up plan for the finale by showing of her cosplaying. I didn't think cosplaying could be intimidating until I saw a girl who's a cosplayer in the same way Goku is a martial artist.
exactly like the kokicki's try to end the game was IMO planned by her as well. But when Keebo's ahoge broke it all went sideways. The random twin plot was Obviously rushed and they weren't supposed to find her hideout as well. But before that it is an amazing balance of twists, plots all around. All the references to previous games as well

I think what Tsumugi lack in is long-term planning
When she sees an opportunity she will strikes but also don't really think about how it'll affect her in the long run

She’s quite literally the mastermind, she planned absolutely everything, every detail here, almost everything is in her control basically, that makes her frankly terrifying. Her personality is honestly relatable too
Not favourite v3 character for me, but defo one of my favourites in general, and an easy best mastermind by a landslide. Like, Izuru and Junko are intentional one note characters and almost the exact same basically. Tsumugi is defo the opportunist type, like Junko, while others like Kyoko and Nagito are more "big picture" than them, sure Tsumugi wrote a show that was loved so much worldwide that its audience were alright with hundreds of deaths in its continued existence, and Junko almost commited omnicide with many other horrendous crimes commited in her name even after she died twice, but their actions were usually very short-sighted when not given enough time. What's scary about Tsumugi however is that she isn't some omniscient being capable of predicting the future or something, she's pretty normal(at least in her world) and the only reason she could manipulate these characters so well was because she created them herself, and everything around them. And yet she still managed to start a killing game lasting 6 whole chapters, having the most casualties even ignoring her own death than any other killing game.
This made me respect tsumugi so much more
As Usual, these songs keep making us want to sob and are absolute bangers all the time, Probably one of my favorite songs of yours, I loved the high notes and I loved the painful yet clever references.

This is so cool!! A song about my favorite mastermind, Tsumugi! I really like the part where she goes "I'm just an accomplice" because it shows that even though she was technically the "mastermind", she wasn't the "true" mastermind, which was the outside world who wanted this. She was just another cog in the organization that was "Team Danganronpa" and just another mindless follower from the outside world.
Holy damn, this shows Tsumugi off so well! I like that you emphasized her own struggle between truth and lies, and how you can see her gradually spiralling into the role of Mastermind more and more! This banger deserves so much more love!
I'd love a Himiko song, she kinda just seems to be mainly in the background unless it's chapter 3. Would love to see how you could portray her emotions in that scene, plus her monotone and drawled-out speech seems interesting to work with-- But I'm no songwriter, so I've no clue

oh my gosh discovering this song after years of not being into dr and it's just, all the memories flooding back. i was so intrigued by shirogane's character and her tangle with her love for dr and simultaneous conflict with her identity...or lack of it, rather, instead replacing said identity by that 'perfect fiction.' i think this song perfectly and subtly captures that -- her struggle, her motives, character, everything while also being really catchy. gumi is perfect for her too, there are quite a few famous gumi songs that can easily fit shirogane's character...all in all fantastic work, it's lovely seeing you active again!
I'm also not in the fandom anymore but this song is awakening such great memories, I kinda want a return to these times :D

And how about making a song of Danganronpa another 1 or 2 (in case you didn't know Danganronpa another is a really great game created by fans, i think there's a lot of characters who would be perfect to have a song)

This would be perfect boss fight music. The fast-paced beats, the wild psychopop singing of the lyrics, not to mention the lyrics themselves fit the character, makes me think of Tsumugi getting a super-upgraded Exisal just to keep you from destroying her "perfect fiction". With Phase 2 being Tsumugi herself and her various cosplays.

I loved it! I like how the overall song was pretty plain and monotone, but it slowly started to vary and get more excited ESPECIALLY when Junko showed up. Overall, I think this really encapsulates Tsumugi, you and Circus-P did such a good job, and she will forever be one of my top tier Danganronpa characters!

This actually feels like a look into Tsumugi's mind. I do like how you had her crying at Gonta's death, as there were some implications that she actually had some feelings toward him (I don't know if it's his gentlemanly nature, or his red eyes).
I also love how this ended so abruptly. Matches up with how she died.

If you're looking for inspiration with a new Danganronpa song (in the future I mean), why not try for Korekiyo or Angie? Or a chapter 3 song altogether? But I feel like you could capture their characters so perfectly with your style, and the beat could be funky!
Even if you never consider these ideas though, I'm with you to the end! I love ALL your works! You really contribute a lot to the communities you dunk your head into!

i might be overanalyzing, but i love how Mcki used the rock crushing gag to cut the video to exactly 3 minutes and 53 seconds in length, because V3 was the 3rd videogame based on a partly-fictional series of danganronpa killing games, with V3 itself being the 53rd overall killing game within the danganronpa universe.
Did anyone realised the similarities between the part where Tsumugi turns into Junko and the "Despair coming, there's no need to be scared [...]" part in Kaede's song? Now that I think about it, aren't those two the only ones talking about despair? I think that's pretty cool knowing the relation between Tsumugi and Kaede

You know, Tsumugi fascinated me... It's somewhat implied she was in Rantaro's game, and chose to Sacrifice herself with him, and the punishment was she was V3 mastermind. If that is the truth, makes you wonder what she was like....and I wonder if she knew she'd be the mastermind... So many questions we may never know

Wow, this is fire! I feel like this is a perfect song to represent Tsumugi, it really catch her mastermind and normal personality as a whole.
Also, I might have an idea about a probable danganronpa fan-song, what about a song about danganronpa v3 as a whole, like with all the characters in it? Like a song about all the twists and how the characters felt about 'em. Or maybe a Rantaro song could be nice too.

I’d been spoiled by fan art that Shirogane had more to her than her design alone let on, and that Enoshima appears (in one way or another) in every game, but I still had no idea how the game would make her that important.
Then come when I played V3, immediately out the gate when the students were revealing their talents, Cosplayer made me equate it to Enoshima’s fake “Fashionista” talent.
I’ve gotta wonder if after when Akamatsu quite literally poked at Shirogane in the intro, (and the secret event when she looks on at Amami and Akamatsu getting along in disgust) if that’s why she let Akamatsu take the fall.
Of course the reveal about the world being “Real Fiction” and the 53rd season of a show makes sense why Shirogane didn’t reveal the truth sooner as she’s got a show to run, and can’t let it end during the first episode of the Season, but I can’t wonder if that exchange where Akamatsu wouldn’t leave her alone and then got all chummy with Amami played a part too.

So excited to see what you do in the future!! I'll just say here that honestly I would LOVE to see songs for basically all the other characters from the game, perhaps especially Himiko to round out the survivors, but that said you have a life and your own interests and as a blooming songwriter myself I know you cannot force the creative juices to flow
So just know we're all thrilled with all the V3 songs you've made already, and if this was the last one it was a glorious sendoff!! Can't wait to hear what you make next regardless of what it is!

The first "I'm just an accomplice to the synopsis" feels almost cunning, like "I'm just a plain girl, nothing to see here~"
But the third one feels sad, following her talking about how she might feel bad then going "well, who cares about that", because the audience doesn't care about the plain background character's feelings

●"as my fantasy gets soiled by the realism of death" gives me vibes of "they're just characters, they aren't real, why does this feel so real and why am I so attached to them?"
● when she says "it's all lies, there's no truth" she looks upset by it, like she didn't know the full truth either

Tsumugi's voice in this video feels so different then any other danganronpa character in these songs, I can't exactly explain it but I love it because as the mastermind having her voice feel different is just so right
I think its because its so calm until the end, whereas the other characters have more emotional voices.
So happy I got to watch the premiere! I had to listen to it during math class. Worth it!
