France forgetting they have Wemby during Serbia match is eerily similar to last year Spurs. He kept moving but always seem to be away from the center of the action. Really painful to watch.
He made like 3 or 4 buckets in a row and they stopped feeding him. Seemed like they were jealous.
You're right about our offense. That's Collet trademark. In Parker's era, Tony had to do the job by himself too often. Same with Fournier some years. Batum does Batum, efficient, good plays, but not an offensive leader, he might was able to be one once, but it's not his mentality. He's a defensive mindset (block by Batum!) with corner 3s.
They frustrate me so much. With just a solid offensive game plan, we could be very dangerous. I'm tired of Collet.

@@naelbi8870 et le fait d'avoir Kenny Atkinson en adjoint ne change rien apparemment. Mais sincèrement, merci, je sais qu'on ne souffre pas seuls. Cette manie de ne choisir que des sélectionneurs français, qu'elle que soit la discipline, c'est parfois pénible.
On parle beaucoup de l'Allemagne, perso c'est le Brésil que je sens pas. Perdre le premier match pour bien être sous pression de la gagne, c'est notre signature. On aime se rendre les choses difficiles, mais d'un autre côté c'est souvent la ou on assure. Je pense qu'on passera à l'arrache pour se faire sortir juste après.
Comme Dewey, je préfères ne rien attendre, je ne risques pas d'être déçu, et je ne peux avoir que de bonnes surprises.

The last time Wemby played Jokic in a meaningful game Wemby smoked Jokic he had 34 points 12rebs, Jokic had 22poins 10rebs and a loss that resulted in the Denver Nuggets losing the #1 seed. That was a head to head NBA matchup between a rookie(Wemby) vs a Mvp(Jokic) plus a whooping 10 year age difference.🤯👽

well in this very head to head that we see in the video and is cherry-picked for wemby france lost to serbia with jokic playing against wemby on offense most of the game. jokic muscled thru wemby regularly.
they both had around 29minutes of play with jokic scoring 20 + 12 rebounds, while wemby scoring 14 +10 rebounds.
Depending on when France is facing USA, we (the french) can hope for silver or bronze.
But even with Wemby and Gobert on our team, this won't be easy. We've seen it facing Serbia, and we could see it facing Canada or even Australia and Germany.

The last time JOKIC played against Wemby in A MEANINGFUL GAME WEMBY SMOKED JOKIC he had 34 and 12, JOKIC had 22 and 10 in a lost that resulted in the Nuggets losing the #1 seed. Don't let FIBA fool you, the only reason why JOKIC scored was because of the offensive fouling in the first half, the refs started calling it and JOKIC stopped scoring and fouled out.

Plus de muscle entraine une moins bonne flexibilité et un déplacement plus lourde. Il a intérêt à garde cette même morphologie car il impose son style très agile. (ou alors au pire prendre très légerement un peu de masse musculaire mais pas trop)
I agree the lineup with Yabusele at the 4 and Wemby at the 5 is way better offensively. Spacing is 1000 times better than when Gobert is on the floor with Wemby. I hope Collet saw it as well because it is quite obvious for an educated eye. Great video 👍🏻

I think France made a mistake with their selection of the guards. They need more ball creators to get the ball to Wemby when the defense tightens up, and I'm not a fan either of their priority of defensive guards. Letting go Okobo and Hifi was a mistake in my opinion and, personally, I would've kept Hifi over someone like Albicy or Ntilikina.

Very confusing rotations from Cole in the friendlies.Fournier & Batum play way less than they should for no reason. These are the leaders of the team that can help Wemby process the various coverages.
The scheme with Strazel (!), Cordinier (!), Coulibaly, Wemby and Gombert is practically a recipe for self destruction.
Ntilikina Fournier Coulibaly Batum Wemby makes much more sense as a starting 5 for FIBA basketball.

Those last games were used by Vincent Collet to finish his line Up for Team France. He played with a pool of 24 players during those games. That's probably the main reason explaining some of the weird rotations you've seen. Because everybody needed a chance to play

Today, the French only have one world-class player, which is a problem, particularly in attack. Otherwise you need top-class team play, which is not the case. The USA, Canada, Germany and even Sudan have at least three or four. In short, the kind of guy who forces his way in and can go it alone when the opportunity presents itself. Then, some of them make the same mistake that Spurs did at the start, either by giving away bad balls or by not giving the ball to Wembanayama in good time, even though they don't score themselves. Spurs realised that there was someone who didn't have to go back and forth 10 times just to not get the ball, and sometimes a bad pass. As a result, the player is exhausted for nothing.

You do have to wonder if Team USA's rather disjointed approach on both ends will negate their obvious talent advantage. As you said, a tough, connected defense is the key to stopping Wemby. Do they have that in their back pocket?

We can't, definitely. I don't think we have the best team we could have, some players have been ejected from the selection that would have brought explosivity. Not even sure we can win a medal at all. I'd love to see someone else as a head coach now

Honestly, I don’t think so. We (i’m French) need a guy able to create for him self. That’s not the case. As soon as the defense is good our attack stop working even with wemby. My je it we’ll be different in LA 2028 with (risacher, Sarr, Salun…) but for now older player are too old and younger too young

honestly he was very quiet against serbia so I don't expect him to do great, he can't handle the ball that well and since france has no point guards he can't have the ball inside the three point line and I don't think he'll be that good just playing from outside, as much as people drool over a 7'4 guy shooting stepback threes he's a big, he should play inside.
I'm saying this as a fan of his and a french that's hoping for a medal at these olympics, I just don't expect France to get it, we don't have the pesonnel around wemby and against serbia he couldn't get in the paint, I'm expecting the same with team usa so already we're playing for bronze, don't even think we'll get it germany, greece and australia look like better teams, canada too but they're small so wemby, yabusele and lessort could put in work but I don't trust the rest of the team to score enough points to win

Look Wembanyama had an excellent rookie season, probably the best of the last decade, and maybe the best since Tim Duncan. But everyone is acting like he's this unstoppable force that is "breaking" basketball and that's just ridiculous. He'll have a good career if he stays healthy, but he's still going to have a hell of a time with team USA, even with Gobert.
Stop it, Wemby got man handled by Jokic and USA just manhandled Jokic and Serbia by 30. USA has guys like Bam AD and Embiid who can guard and score over Wemby with no problem. He’s still too young and too weak. He and France don’t have a chance against USA. We’re gonna embarrass ts outta France just watch
True! But not wemby’s fault : he is too young and it is his first international competition. The reste of France team does not play well offensively and our coach has already proven in the past than he is not a great attacking coach
We are not close as good as everyone thinks. Possibly the worst TEAM in the tournament. The most talent obviously but the US defense and overall team play is weak. Not sure if we will lose but we'll sweat a few games for sure.
Asvel one of the dumbest clubs of all time in europe history..how the fuck they collected all these france talents,wemby,risacher and so on..but not played them,bought bunch of old players and still sucked big time in euroleague..rather that let youngins play and have same results but be super entrrtaining team to watch
