  • ✨Hello ladies! ✨
In todays video I am going to share with you the importance of looking your best every single day. As I will get into in the video, I want you to keep in mind this is not me advocating for full beat and glammed to the nines every day. I just want you to look the best that you can every day. As someone who spent the past year deep in grief after the loss of my mother, I can attest to the fact that some days the BEST you can do is just get a shower. And thats what we want to focus on. Are we trying to do the best that we can? Often times, we aren't.
So lets talk about why that is..
There can be several reasons why you are no longer investing in your appearance or no longer have an interest in looking your best. And if it feels GOOD to no longer be doing those things, then I invite you to continue doing what feels good for you. However, if that is not the case..its important we get to the bottom of what this is stemming from before we can really expect that we are going to be able to really do anything about it long term.
For me, getting back to this part of myself has improved my life in SO MANY ways and I hope that if you take this journey as well that it can do exactly the same for you.
    Love you angels!
    Whit xoxo

Today I woke up and it was almost noon. Wearing the leggings and tee shirt I have maybe been wearing all week. I literally can’t remember what day it was when I took my last shower, but it might have been last weekend. The only feelings I can identify anymore are numbness or rage. I can’t begin to tell you how much I needed to hear what you had to say. And now I am going to put this damn phone down and go get clean in a nice hot shower. What’s that saying, about the longest journey beginning with a single step? On Wednesday it will be 5 years since I lost my mom, and she was an amazing woman of singular courage. I know it would make her sad, seeing me wallowing like this. Time to dust myself off and get moving again. Thank you.

I was so impressed by her that I went and started a conversation. From that moment on, I've wanted to be her friend. It may sound shallow, but it's not. How we represent ourselves says a lot. But its also always nice to have my husband come home and see a well put together wife. I have a lot of females in my life who are moms (I’m not) and their kids are in college now and they still don’t have time to get ready. It does seem like a lifestyle choice. And it’s got to the point where their energy is off kilter - the pandemic doesn’t help. Even pre-pandemic just getting out and dressed for the sake of a party or “to be seen” had some positive affect on them. I really had to take some space away and re-assess my own relationships with how I want to show up - am I a friend or their therapist?!

I’ve always lived with this philosophy of presenting your best self every day. I have gotten so many comments about how I always dress up. Mostly it’s a compliment but some people think it’s ridiculous to always be done up. What bothers me about people is that they save their nicest clothes for a “special occasion”. To me, everyday is a special occasion. We are not promised tomorrow.

And I was saying how they literally get ready for everyone else but themselves. It was interesting to me. Since covid / lockdowns began, I'm the only one in my circle of friends that still gets ready and does my makeup/ hair every day. It really is a privilege to have the willingness to take care of one's self. I had depression for so long that it became normal to start skipping brushing my teeth or not combing out the knots in my curly hair, and I appeared as if I lived out in the elements.
People bypass the obvious suffering and self disrespect, or just live, let live, but it is a sign of something very wrong
It is not vanity to have and maintain dignity for one's self
And privilege to actually care about one's self is gratitude in action of taking care of one's self
Thank you for keeping it truthful!

I love this. After my grandparents passed almost 5 years ago. I let myself go to the max 😕 My grandma was a beautiful woman. She literally would not go a DAY without putting herself together. Dressed beautifully from head to to toe, hair on point, and smelling good. I know right now she is probably in heaven upset with me but it’s the depression for me 😔 I want to start taking care of myself NOW. I think I’m ready

It felt good to do it all - makeup, hair, etc. I take pride in my appearance even if no one is watching. Everyone should take care of themselves - you're worth it!!!!

It’s really hard to focus on yourself when you have children. The first year with a baby being the hardest. And when you have 2 other children under 10 who also need your attention makes it even harder. I don’t always get dressed up and put makeup on. But I always shower everyday. Sometimes just putting on some mascara and a pair of earrings will make all the difference.

As a 42 year single old woman who’s ALWAYS on the go, I understand that time wise it might seem daunting, but it’s truly not. It takes me about 30 minutes… 30 minutes out of a 24 hr day, to get ready. Hair, makeup, clothes.. everything. You CAN get it done and out the door in a reasonable time once you get the routine down. Just relax, have fun, and make that time for YOU. I also encourage you to look into podcasts and videos that help you feel good and help you learn how to do the things you want to do for yourself. Good luck and enjoy.

This is so damn needed 💕 I feel like for the longest time I've been trying to make myself more 'low maintenance' i.e. washing my hair less, not wearing makeup, and like you said, wearing gym clothes!!
I feel like I was doing this under the premise of being more low maintenance to save time? Feel more chill? But actually, it's removing a whole aspect of self care, and I KNOW that I feel better and more confident with my makeup done, hair nice and even just jeans and a nice shirt on.
What you said about only dressing up for a certain audience really hits home - why is it I'll only get myself together for a night out, or if I'm gonna see someone I'm interested in? I should look my best because it makes ME feel better!!
Love your message that you're putting out, thank you ❤❤

I can appreciate your perspective. The main reason I personally don't wear makeup a lot and didn't actually start learning makeup until I turned 40 is because my passion and interests revolve around the gym. So I wear gym clothes all day because I train 4-5 times a week teach classes 2xs a week and wearing makeup for the gym never made sense to me. Plus I love it. But I do make sure my gym clothes are quality and custom to my body. But I'm huge into skin care and will do my morning and night routine consistently. I just provide this as an example so people don't get lost in the message and think the takeaway is that you shouldn't be in gym clothes all day. But like people say they're are levels to this.

When you talked about people who say things like “why are you all dressed up? Where you think you’re going?” People who act like there is something wrong with a person feeling good about themselves and the way they look, that elevating your everyday is so wrong…my father and stepmother are the first ones who come to mind when I think back on who made sure they never missed an opportunity to push me down. And for what? That they then could enjoy watching me shrink myself down smaller and smaller so that they could feel better about themselves?Growing up, it was one of the things I wanted to most get away from. I did get away from that negativity eventually, but those things definitely affected me later in life and I’ve been doing my best to create my own healthy views on beauty and self care ever since.

Go to thrift or consignment stores...lots of mostly good quality stuff... A pair of nice designer jeans you might pay 7 to 8 bucks for as opposed to 15 or more for jeans at Walmart...

@Elizabeth...check out the book Frugal and fabulous...can't remember the author, but I found it at the public library..tons of good tips on how to look great without a lot of money...I'm in the same boat..I don't have much money, but I believe that thinking others look so much better than me is more ideas coming from my own insecurity rather than reality...they DON'T look better than you, trust me...!

This video triggered me in the best way possible. I know I haven't been living my best, even if it is just for myself, but after all is said and done it's about self-esteem and self-worth. What we do for self is just as important if not more so than what we do for others. We can't pour from an empty cup...so thank you so much for bringing light to this topic.

I have been through a lot the last few years with getting out of an abusive relationship, getting pregnant, having a baby, now a toddler, and covid and getting laid off for 7 months. I have observed that I feel so much better about myself if I do put effort into my physical appearance. Small things like having my nails painted and wearing a few rings and a necklace and some makeup make such a huge difference in my well being and how I feel about myself. So I’m with ya sista! 100% believe in putting some effort into myself makes me feel happier, more confident, and even more productive.

I’m so ecstatic that I stumbled upon this video. I have a similar story as yours, so this resonates with me. I used to be like those “people” or “girls” haters whatever, saying why is she dressed up? Why does she look so good? Why and how?!! I was done with that life and attitude. When I met my husband, he told me a similar story too about his grandmother and mother having the same attitude as you. They would dress up and show up everyday no matter what. Their story changed my life. They came from nothing and had nothing growing up, yet they showed up!!! Thanks for being genuine and original!! 😍❤️👏🏻🥳

Thank you for this ❤️ I’ve had people try to make me feel bad about the fact that I put effort in- it’s for me though, not them!
