      I agree somewhat. I'm actually a fan of newer B&M's but they are at the point now that they need to come up with new concept. RMC is taking a lot of their business over the last couple years. No doubt about that.

    Patrick, the only other coasters I can think of with the "vertical loop over the lift hill" feature are Banshee and Riddler's Revenge.
    As for Kumba, it's like B&M sent a subtle message to Arrow saying "now this is how you do a custom looper :) "

    • @CoasterFanatics
      @CoasterFanatics  6 лет назад

      Yeah those are the only ones that I know of as well. Yeah this is so much better than any arrow looper.

      Actually Busch Gardens Williamsburg wanted B&M to make something similar to Kumba for their park, but since B&M was in their early years of manufacturing coasters, they didn't have the resources or the possibility of making two coasters for both Busch Gardens parks. So of course, Drachen Fire was built by Arrow Dynamics, and that's when they tried to copy B&M's style, in terms of the layout, the inversions, and the support system, and we all know how rough and painful the transitions and inversions were.

  • @calebreese2311

    If only B&M still made their rides like this. Then they would be near the top for sure

    • @CoasterFanatics

      I agree. I still place them at the top for reliability though. Their coasters rarely have extended downtime.

    I had a facination with this since it first came out 25 years ago when I was about 5. This has been my life long home park. I remember when Gwazi was a Brewery I was 5 it was closed and I cried cause I couldn't take the tour. Now Gwazi sits dormant and i cry cause RMC is unlikely. I never rode this ride until last year due to fear of heights but I fell in love all over again after that first front row ride. I loved it for its roar as a kid and its intensity as adult. I hope if they ever get rid of it I'll have enough money to buy it and install it in my own park its 1 of a kind and one of the only coaster to reach the top 50 Steel Coasters by Golden Ticket since its induction in 1998 Montu is on there too. There is a total of about 5-7 coasters that have ever done that. No clone anywhere so it truly is one of a kind.

    Drachen Fire at Busch Gardens Williamsburg was going to be the first B&M Sit Down Looper, but it was an Arrow Dynamics Looping Coaster instead. It opened back in 1992 and was located to the right of Big Bad Wolf. It had 6 inversions, but the corkscrew followed by the brake run was removed after the 1994 season. In 1998, Drachen Fire closed because it was extremely rough. In 2002, Drachen Fire was scrapped.

    Riding it in December along with the SeaWorld and Fun Spot coasters. Got the Platinum pass a month ago through Sesame Place which is good for the remainder of 2018 and all of 2019 for only $165. Turns out that at the very least, it's good for the parking and admission at all SeaWorld/Busch Gardens properties. The craziest thing is that I never even have to go to Sesame Place since they email the actual barcode that is the season pass. I'll still hit Sesame Place for Oscar's Wacky Taxi. Really looking forward to the Florida parks now.

    I've heard a lot of people say that this is the best B&M coaster made to date, and I can see why. I mean this is an intense roller coaster that is even on my bucket list of rides to go on in the future. B&M is my favourite coaster manufacturer, and this is one that I have to ride because of its intense ride. I mean it says 3.8 G's for its max G-force, but it looks like more over 4 G's for sure. You really can't find a lot of these old-school B&M coasters these days. B&M just doesn't make like they used to, despite a lot of their modern coasters also being fantastic rides. Many of their coasters in the early 90s really stood out, and Kumba is one of them :)

    • @CoasterFanatics
      @CoasterFanatics  6 лет назад +1

      I agree, today their rides aren't quiet intense as the old ones but there is no doubt about B&M's reliability. There coasters are work horses and rarely have extended downtime.

      I remembered the name, Medusa. Of course, I had rode it not long after it opened, I loved the loop than into the immelman and cobra roll, I just anything that dives, I don;t like the cork screws, because I don;t enjoy that kind of feeling, I love zero g, barrel roll, immelmans, tall loops, probably why I love Montu and Raptor so much as far as inverts goes, floorless was cool when they came out, but I actually liked Nitro more than Medusa. I rode great American scream machine a few times before it shut down, and their dark coaster. The worst ride for me all time, was Mind Eraser at 6 flags america, those damn shoulder restraints and head banging, but they have apparently fixed that, Batwing, the 2nd lie to fly to open was okay, but not fast enough or high enough for me, TATSu is still my favorite. I haven’t been back to Hershey since Great Bear opened, yet I am only a couple hours a way, maybe next year.

    You guys have to remember. All coasters (new) are made for the client. It’s up to them who decides what inversions, height and features they want. And B&M make it to their specs (or whoever is making it). You can get as much as you want as long as you pay it.
    Yes this is a very intense ride, wish B&M still made it like this but it’s all what the customer wants. When these are designed, they sit down with the client and everything is approved, then once it’s signed off, then production takes place.
    Yes they are reliable, this gives B&M my 5 stars but I do wish they would let them self go and make something wild.
    I give Intamin 5 stars only for being into crazy design but that’s it. Their reliability isn’t there.

    • @CoasterFanatics
