I just read chapter 11 two days ago, it’s definitely one of my favorite chapters on faith and in the New Testament. You’re doing great!

Sis talk about not being sure about being righteous Romens 5:1 says “Therefore, since we have been made righteous through his faithfulness combined with our faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Giving your life to Christ is not how you are born again. You are born again by simply believing in Jesus for everlasting life. We are saved by grace through faith not of works (Eph 2:8-9). In fact if you have always thought that you must work for your salvation (by giving your life to Christ) you will be damned (Romans 4:2-5). Simply believe for one moment in time that Jesus guarantees you a spot in heaven by belief alone and you will go to heaven (John 11:25-26). If you believe in Him you will never perish, get cast out, be condemned, or spiritually die (John 3:16, 5:24, 6:37, 11:26). Do you think this is true? If so, you can know you are saved 100% (1 John 5:13).
The warning in Hebrews 10:26 is directed to saved believers who are being warned of the consequences if they apostasize. If they apostasize they will face judgement of God unto death (not going to hell). For these people are saved and because they have believed they will never face an eternal condemnation in the lake of fire. Paul is referring back to Numbers 15 where there were certain conscious sins (note that he says willfully sin) that could not be appeased by a blood sacrifice. The doers of such a sin were to be executed according to the mosaic law. Likewise, Paul is saying to the saved believer that if they apostasize from the faith by returning back to animal sacrifices (Judaism) they will be temporally judged by God (killed physically on earth). The judgement can not be avoided.
In conclusion, we are saved by belief alone. Not anything of ourselves. Not of any works at all. Not by giving our life to Christ. We are saved when we believe Jesus is the Christ (1 John 5:1). Believing Jesus is the Christ means to believe (accept as true) that when we believe in Him we are guaranteed a spot in heaven and will never die (John 11:25-27). Thus you are fully assured 100% you are saved because it is not dependent on any future actions from yourself. Just as works dont save you, they dont prove you are truly saved either. For when we believe we are saved then and there regardless of future works. The lifestyle you live afterward has nothing to do with the reality of your born again nature for saved people have the ability to fall away and apostasize.

@user-xn2if9wo4b Of course when we believe and are born again we are given a stronger ability to do good works. What I rather am saying is that it is not a given. It wont always happen if the believer does not cooperate with the Holy Spirit in sanctification. This is why much of the NT epistles written to saved believers is made up of exhortations and reminders to do good works and live holy. If it would happen naturally then why remind them? Because it does not necessarily follow that because one has believed in Jesus that they will always produce good works/have a change of lifestyle then we can not say that because one lacks works or a positive change in lifestyle that they are not "truly" born again. It is a curious thing that many Christians believe that saving faith entails more than belief when Jesus says to simply believe in Him. In normal day to day life we can confidently and assuredly say we believe in something without tying in a "proof" of such a belief afterward. After all, if I asked you "do you believe Joe Biden is president?" you would be able to say "yes, I think thats true" without any doubt that you truly believe it. The validity of your belief would not be proven or disproven based on future actions. You simply think its true. Likewise, saving faith is believing that Jesus is the Christ (1 John 5:1) which explained further is to believe that Jesus guarantees everlasting life to anyone who believes in Him (John 11:25-27). In the same way if you think this is true you are born again.
