  • Hang with the dudes from RTC as we rip out and set up a driveway in Arnold. The neighbor said he felt his house shake from our machine and he was extra grumpy. He thought it would be a good idea to come outside cussing at us to get his point across, he apologized quickly.

Sometimes it pays off too. I live in the country and when the crew came out and started replacing the bridge near my house I made sure to keep cold drinks and free rides into town so they didn't have to go to the gas station 6 miles away and pay stupid prices for snacks and drinks. In return they paved my driveway with the left over asphalt for free. I even kept the generator fueled up over the weekend so they didn't have to send a guy out. They pumped water from the creek to damp the mats they use to keep the concrete from getting hot and setting too fast.

I’ll never ever in life understand people coming out to complain because a neighbor is having some sort of work done, and they don’t like the noise or whatever. It’s a “temporary” thing. It’s a part of life that you accept because one day you’ll need some type of work done. I just don’t get it. People do the same thing in lawn transformation videos. As a now building/welding inspector (I used to be a City Inspector for 10 years), people like this are WAY too common. I've dealt with hundreds of them who are just mad at construction happening in general. They don't understand the basic minor inconvenience of residential work, let alone commercial or DOT work. They tend to make mountains out of molehills (as filmed here), yet complain about the tiniest things on their own projects. they are the WORST clients to take on. In my opinion, as a former city inspector, you did LITERALLY everything by the book. I'd approve it and probably hand you my signed approval of construction papers and reapproved permits, right Infront of that Karen.

I think one of the key moments was when just after you said that you didn't think you'd even need the excavator, your guy pulling up with the truck and excavator pulls up, jumped out of the truck to you, and said. "Hey, if you're not going to need the excavator, I'm gonna spin it around, park it down there..."
It's a of he pulled up, read the job, and took the initiative. Little things like this in the seasoned experienced worker's methods all add up to alot of worth. Good luck to ya, and good luck to your upcoming season back at the track, man! 👍

This channel is a breath of fresh air from Victory...which has kind of tailed off into more of a TV show now. I still enjoy Victory, but I subscribed to watch the work, not the other bullshit.

It doesn’t matter with new construction as it does with what we’re doing…. No truer words spoken, and it Applies to all trades. The HVAC, the Plumbing, electrical…. Builder just cares that it passes code and he can move forward as cheap as possible.

I don't know much about concrete. I'm a roofer and we know how to get the neighbors blood pressure up also. Nothing like taking the amigos out there around 7 am and playing them the songs of my people. Which is a loud ass compressor, nails guns going, Efrain smacking his metal tear off tool with a hammer because it's bent with some random mariachi playing on the radio. The neighbors absolutely love us

Great to see you laying #3 or 4 bar for the pour. It's the best way to go on any pour or welded mat. Either way you wont be back for it.

We used plastic sheeting with a wood framework to hold the plastic from hitting the concrete. It worked great for jobs up to 20 by 20. The thing was a nightmare to set over the slab, but well worth the trouble in the end result.

Every neighborhood has one jerk that has to come yell and cuss , they usually don't know what they're talking about and act the fool .
    You handled it perfectly 😂.

Home inspector says it all. Wanna be and never will be contractor. You handle it better than I would have.

Loved the way you handled the upset neighbor and I’m sure none of that sediment and water ended up in that storm sewer intake. I’m sure u had the appropriate equipment to contain anything from entering thee river system.

LOL, if he was a home inspector (and knew what he was doing) he wouldn’t have come out and said anything.

The old driveway looks brand new compared to mine. That's really interesting he is having it redone.
