- Ninety-year-old artist Faith Ringgold is best-known for her story quilts - a patchwork of lush, colorful and daring images with a story written right onto the fabric. Correspondent Nancy Giles talks with Ringgold, who for decades refused to bow to convention during her career, as she stitched a vibrant tapestry of art, history and social commentary, currently featured in an exhibition at the Glenstone Museum in Potomac, Maryland.

This kind of art, I truly admire, as well as any artist who has lived through so much of a certain country’s history.
Never heard about her , now i am obsessed, what an amazing art works and life story
Same here !
She has been one of my heros since the late 60s.
Thank you for telling her story . I never heard of her . And, I’m 53 years old . She ‘s an American treasure. And, she definitely does not look like she is 90 years old . Love her art . I will be doing some research now on her art work now . Thank you !
"As you get more older, you become more free!" I agree.

It's really the story of African Americans, in this country .
Love this story about her confidence and artistry and creativity. ! Her story is a powerful force for all little children.
'Anyone can fly. All you gotta do is try.' 💜
She's a wonderful woman and a brilliant prolific artist. It saddens me though that I've never heard of her 'til now. She should be a household name on par with artists like Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keeffe.🎨🇺🇸
Feisty, delightful,, talented. Thank you for showing her work,
She is a courageous lady with a wonderful spirit. Thanks for sharing her story CBS Sunday Morning.
I love your work. You inspire me. Thank you for sharing your story, especially about rejection. "Rejection" can change a person and not make them smile. Your grace is contagious.

It mighting be interesting to note that white artists get slammed for portraying black people, too. Black people make accusations of appropriation.
Did she just call Black art quirky?
I pray that the oppressors will learn the lessons from this video. I pray this in the name of Saint George Floyd, Amen.

Faith Ringgold's art of divisiveness and racism.
There, fixed the title for you.
@ 4:40 She just disregarded the sacrifices that many black Women made to the struggle for a strong cohesive social identity and injected her feminism BS. Sister Corretta Scott King, Sister Clara Muhammad, Rosa Parks, Madame CJ Walker, the list goes on. Black woman have always been at the forefront of our social movements although they try to separate us.
It sounds like it came from the alphabet people. They are the only ones that make statements like that with a straight face
As a (now-retired) elementary school teacher, I am very familiar with her wonderful books. Her work is a joy. If you are in LA, or going there at any point, you can see some of her mosaic art at Union Station in the LA Metro system.
