Thank you for telling her story . I never heard of her . And, I’m 53 years old . She ‘s an American treasure. And, she definitely does not look like she is 90 years old . Love her art . I will be doing some research now on her art work now . Thank you !
I love your work. You inspire me. Thank you for sharing your story, especially about rejection. "Rejection" can change a person and not make them smile. Your grace is contagious.
She's a wonderful woman and a brilliant prolific artist. It saddens me though that I've never heard of her 'til now. She should be a household name on par with artists like Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keeffe.🎨🇺🇸
@ 4:40 She just disregarded the sacrifices that many black Women made to the struggle for a strong cohesive social identity and injected her feminism BS. Sister Corretta Scott King, Sister Clara Muhammad, Rosa Parks, Madame CJ Walker, the list goes on. Black woman have always been at the forefront of our social movements although they try to separate us.
As a (now-retired) elementary school teacher, I am very familiar with her wonderful books. Her work is a joy. If you are in LA, or going there at any point, you can see some of her mosaic art at Union Station in the LA Metro system. www.metro.net/about/art/artists/ringgold/

It mighting be interesting to note that white artists get slammed for portraying black people, too. Black people make accusations of appropriation.
Did she just call Black art quirky?
I pray that the oppressors will learn the lessons from this video. I pray this in the name of Saint George Floyd, Amen.
