- These days, I focus more on the assistant coaches and the advisors to head coaches rather than the managers themselves. Yesterday, I saw again Arteta's technical team in action and their reactions were exactly what I want to see from the Chelsea bench. So far, it’s mainly been Enzo without much noticeable screen impact from his technical team and this always worries me and how i understand the my game. (Adjor) #preseason
Gone are the days, Mourinho had his style. Arsene wenger had his style. Sir. Alex had his style (traditional 4-4-2). Rafa Benitez had his style. Now it's like every coach wants to copy and play attacking football regardless of the resources in terms of players' technical abilities and the club's monetary resources at his disposal. The fact that you learnt under an attacking coach does not neccessarily mean you should also go by that style. Mourinho learnt under louis Van Gaal and the late Sir. Bobby Robson but when he began his managerial journey we saw that he had his own philosophy of football. As a coach, you just need to look at the players at your disposal, know their strengths and weaknesses and fornulate a tactical structure for them to flourish, not neccessarily making them play an attacking brand of football, they may be able to play that brand of football but will it yield the results you're looking for? Of course if the players from the goalkeeper to the center forward have what it takes to play and flourish in an attacking tactical structure, fine but if they can't masa, park the bus and get your results. That's why i like Mourinho and Simeone a lot. You have to be pragmatic as a coach. Analyse your opponents and use what you have to get what you want. Even if it'll take all eleven players to defend for 90 minutes, do that to win. If spectators are not entertained with that of football, it's their own cup of tea. It's like the notion "football has changed" has also eaten into the heads of most football clubs and they are hiring coaches based on his style that is, does he builds up from the back and does he likes to posses the ball a lot? These clubs do these without checking the quality of players they have and the money to spend in bringing on board quality players to suit that style.

One of the primary reason for the inversion is to have 5 defeners to defend any transitions and 5 attackers going forward. Ideally that's how its suppose to be. Chelsea is currently struggling because most of the players do not fully understand their roles. The double 8s/10s are suppose to press super hard when the ball is lost but carney and nkunku aren't great at pressing. And incase the team isn't pressing high, one of them is suppose to drop back and be on the same line as lavia but none of them did. Also they are suppose to be rotating with the wingers. Its more about rotation than specifically overlapping. That's why city can play the same thing without using direct wingers. Also James and gusto do not have possitional disciple in the midfield. The ideas are there but it'd take time for everyone to really understand their role.
