  • www.gobeyondthe... - The college experience is built on the idealism of hopeful students, pursuing the next step in their education with hopes of attaining a degree and becoming gainfully employed. Ideas of changing policy, procedure and the status quo are present in every classroom. But hindsight is 20/20 and idealism is soon replaced with reality. I attended The University of Texas at Arlington from 2008 to 2011; here are some things I learned during that time that might help you in your decision. During my time at UTA, I had a husband and family away from school. I was a commuter student with a life and commitments off-campus.

    As a transferred junior I’d like to add more to the list:
    1. Find jobs on/off campus
    2. Make use of departmental study rooms and study rooms at libraries
    3. Get plugged in with organizations
    4. Be careful about meal plans
    5. AVOID BUYING PARKING PERMITS/PARKING ON CAMPUS

      How do you avoid buying a parking pass? Starting there this fall. Where do you park?

      You literally have to have a parking pass but what you can do is team up with a friend. For 1 parking pass you can have up to 3 cars on it, so me and my brother and my cousin are all on 1 parking pass so we each only payed around 75$ instead of all three of us paying the $200+ fee

    UTA 2009 alumni here and back again currently for a second degree but this time I’m doing all online. It’s a Good school, parking sucks, avoid university hall and any class in the college of liberal arts building. That place is a legit maze. Utilize campus resources as much as possible (after all you’re paying for it). The MAC, Ransom Hall, the library and the Health Center if you don’t have private insurance (it’s free for students). Get comfortable walking shoes snd never try to walk across campus in flip flops.

      Hey Mitch, thanks for sharing your insights! Would you say your online experience at UTA different than your on-campus experience?

    • @MitchPR08
      @MitchPR08 3 года назад +1

      @@Gobeyondthebrochure Not particularly, for me anyways the course content itself is much more difficult but one has the same resources in regards to access to tutors and such as you would being on campus. In some ways I would say it’s better because one does not have the distractions of campus life and can focus purely on academics.

    Went there, was a commuter but did a lot of stuff on campus. Joined groups and participated. If you choose to be a loner, that's your issue. Love my UTA. Working on my Masters somewhere else. Can't help buy feel the hate from below are kids who couldn't cut it.

    We had a good football team when I went there from 1980-1985. My senior year, 3 players were drafted by the NFL. 2 of them went on to long and successful careers with the 49ers/Eagles and the other with the Giants.I was in the marching band for those years.

    Going through a similar situation as you. I'm currently a Chemistry major but alas I've realized I'm not cut out for it and dropped out of that class. I'm still taking my other math classes but I'm switching to the communications department. CTEC to be exact.
