Awesome video, takes me back to the only time I flew in a Fokker product, an American F 100, OKC-DFW. I remember the oval windows and everything. We even took off without the flaps deployed (both the 70 and the 100 can do that). I have a photo of AA F 100s at ORD when I was there in 2003, great aircraft. Wish I had the chance to fly in it again but at least I got to once. Can't complain.
That is awesome you flew on the Fokker 100 with AA. You basically described my very first Fokker flight. I was about 7 years old when I flew the Fokker 28 with US Air. I remember the out-of-sync hum of SPEY engines and the oval windows. A couple years later I flew the US AIr F-100. When I became old enough to realize the significance of those planes I realized I would probably never set foot in another one again.
Once you are in the routine of your flight and connecting via different airports I would say that part didn't feel much different. What really struck me were the different airline liveries that we don't see regularly in the US and the colorful flight crew uniforms. Thanks for watching!
Never flew up back in an F28 or DC-9. I did though fly up back in a MD -80 SAS and it was interesting and quite noisy with that fan just behind your ear. I had some fairly wild flights in the old DC-9's . They were a pilot's aeroplane I am told . Best memories were leaning too far down the runway and peoples stuff hurtling down the aisle, a fairly steep descent around a very big cumulus cloud, his weather radar must have told him that it was not a good idea to go in it.Had some memorable flights in F28's too, gee they were a noisy beast from the outside
Beagle76 Sounds like you've had some awesome flight adventures. That F28 is even loud on the inside during taxi. I remember the base frequencies roaring inside from the idle speed.
I was lucky enough to have flown in the back of many of these old twins. Old DC-9's, F28's and BAC 1-11's. I'd have to say.....the BAC One-Eleven's seemed the loudest. Of course....sitting just in front of the wing on old TWA Boeing 707's in the 1970's...didn't seem much quieter either. lol
Loren Jackson Gottcha. I never flew the BAC but remember my first few flights on the F-28 as a kid. The low frequency hum of the Speys during taxi definitely woke up your ear drums.
As far as I know, the Fokker 70 is configured so that flaps are not required during takeoff. I'm sure certain flying conditions such as high elevation and hot weather would require flaps. Most of the F70 videos I have seen do not have the flaps deployed during takeoff.
Nice takeoff at Runway 06-24 Kaagbaan, in southwest direction. Good to hear and see the engines. I have found the ventilation blowing sound a bit loud, when I flew the F70 as a passenger.
Sometimes the ventilation can mask the sound of the engines a bit. I think it may depend how the pilots have the ventilation system set. During one of my flights on the 717 there was quite a present sound of air rushing through the vents. It wasn't until we were lined up on the runway that the airflow was cut and you could hear the engines clearly.
I just recently found out the Fokker flaps do not need to be extended for take off . I would have been freaking out thinking back to that awful crash of that MD 88 at Dtw years ago
KLM is still flying roughly 24 Fokker 70s. I believe there is an airline in Germany still using the Fokker 100 as well as Fokkers still being used in Indonesia and Africa. This is just my initial guess without researching further.
Funny you mention that, my first airplane flight was on a F-28 with US Air. Sadly I was too young to have a camera and film it. But, the low hum of those SPEY's on taxi still sticks with me today.
Awesome! Heading to EU next year. Gonna go to Dublin, London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Sweden and possibly Norway too. I want to take the Cityjet RJ-85 to London from Dublin, then BA 767-300 to Amsterdam, KLM F-70 to Brussels, Brussels Airlines RJ-100 to Stockholm, and not sure what other aircraft I want to fly on but these are the special ones I will be coming over there for. All the aircraft I listed will all be retired by the end of 2017 so I want to get there before all of the interesting aircraft are gone and replaced with Vanilla 737s, A320s, CRJs, and Embraers.
I'm not familiar with the fokker. Does it have thrust reverse? I didn't hear the engines change pitch when he touched down. awesome video and how did you stay so still on the landing and takeoff?
+Future pilot67 Fokker is a Dutch aircraft manufacturer. I believe the 70 does have reverse thrust. The type of engine is the Rolls Royce TAY series. For the camera I just hold it with a very tight grip and keep my whole body as still as I can :) Thanks for watching.
+Future pilot67 Yes, they have thrust reverse if needed. Usually they only use idle reverse thrust. In case of a rejected takeoff, the procedure is to use full reverse thrust.
The Fokker 70 has Rolls-Royce TAY engines which do have reverse thrust. I have seen a few RUclips videos where reverse was deployed on this aircraft model. My guess is given our airspeed and runway length the pilot didn't find a need for reverse thrust.
hugo112max The camera used in this video is the older Sony HX-100V. I have also added some image improvements through my video editing software. It is a nice camera however no longer produced. Sony now makes newer versions such as the HX-300V and HX-400V.
+H G From what I understand the Fokkers are rated to takeoff with no flaps set. Although if you have never flown on one, it could be a bit of an unsettling sight.
+Horse lover The sound was not too hard on the ears in this seat. I would say the DC-9's have more cabin noise in this location than the updated "turbofan" Fokkers (F70/100).
never get tired of hearing that takeoff sound.
love it :)
+Alfa .Flyer Agreed!
The sound of engine was epic.. Thanks for sharing

I flew an AA F-100 in 1997 EWR-ORD. At the time I had never heard of it.
Come to Australia and fly some fifo/regional airlines. Lots of F100
Must have been a completely different feeling flying between countries in Europe than here in the US like you're used to, great vid!
Once you are in the routine of your flight and connecting via different airports I would say that part didn't feel much different. What really struck me were the different airline liveries that we don't see regularly in the US and the colorful flight crew uniforms. Thanks for watching!
Wow! Truly amazing, your so lucky to have flown on a one of those, I really want to.

Loren Jackson If the BAC you flew was using the SPEY engines, those things resonate through the cabin like no ones business :)
They were all produced with variations of the Spey engine. No other engine type flew on the BAC 1-11's.
Loren Jackson Gottcha. I never flew the BAC but remember my first few flights on the F-28 as a kid. The low frequency hum of the Speys during taxi definitely woke up your ear drums.
Fantastic video......BEST seat for filming in this aircraft :-)
Nice sound and great quality> thumbs UP!
Thanks so much!
Nice video! Love the view with the engine :)
That view was my top priority in booking this flight leg ;) Thanks for watching!
Great video. Loved the sound during takeoff. I enjoy watching your videos.
Thank you for stopping by and watching. I really like the fuselage mounted engines because the sound is perfectly ear level :)
Excellent video, I did enjoyed watching
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. The Fokker jets were definitely fun to fly on.
Very nice! Great views here! BTW--why no "flaps" on the "takeoff' ?
As far as I know, the Fokker 70 is configured so that flaps are not required during takeoff. I'm sure certain flying conditions such as high elevation and hot weather would require flaps. Most of the F70 videos I have seen do not have the flaps deployed during takeoff.

Rolls-Royce Tay turbofans and not Pratt & Whitney JT8Ds, but the sound is eerily similar. The classic low-bypass turbofan sound!
Yes, definitely very similar. Low-bypass turbofan is where it’s at! Adds a little spice to the flying experience.
Perfect video - truly amazing. I will go to AMS by F70 in June and need to know if this was seat 15F? Thanks a lot
I just recently found out the Fokker flaps do not need to be extended for take off . I would have been freaking out thinking back to that awful crash of that MD 88 at Dtw years ago
+Richard Sundown Yeah, if you are not used to seeing flaps-up on takeoff, I think it would definitely be unnerving for some.
Beautiful!
Thank you for watching!
Awesome video! How much longer will KLM fly these Fokker jets? Because I want to fly on one!
I'm not sure what the current retirement schedule is for the Fokker 70s. As I understand, KLM currently has 23 or 24 left in their fleet.
love the Fokker jets small but powerful and good looking! do you know if all Fokker commercial jets are now phased out and retired? super video!
KLM is still flying roughly 24 Fokker 70s. I believe there is an airline in Germany still using the Fokker 100 as well as Fokkers still being used in Indonesia and Africa. This is just my initial guess without researching further.
LoveJT8D Not to forget Avianca Brasil who still uses the Fokker 100...
Awesome! The Fokker 100 is also a wonderful aircraft :) Did you sit close to the engine on your flight?
Yep! I'd say that answers that question :P Nice pics! Must have been a wonderful fight.
Mooie video, jammer dat ze niet meer worden gemaakt, geldt trouwens voor alle fokker vliegtuigen
Nice Video and a great sound!
***** Thank you!
One of best!!! Subbed u. :)
This is feels like being a passenger of a Fairchild A-10 Thunderbolt II. Try hear the older Fokker F28 for more epic engine howls & spoolings

BA are retiring the 763?
Best plane soud ever. rip fokker 50/100 and last fokker 70 Flight 2017 fokker 70 i love it
Mishal Mugwe It’s sad to see them go. Definitely an awesome sound coming from those engines.
I'm not familiar with the fokker. Does it have thrust reverse? I didn't hear the engines change pitch when he touched down. awesome video and how did you stay so still on the landing and takeoff?

Het blijft een mooi vliegtuig
Very nice!
Hi Jeffrey! Thanks for stopping by and watching. The final leg of my Birmingham journey which led to a super awesome and historic weekend :)
Didnt hear the pilot reverse thrust. Does the Fokker 70 have reverse thrust?
The Fokker 70 has Rolls-Royce TAY engines which do have reverse thrust. I have seen a few RUclips videos where reverse was deployed on this aircraft model. My guess is given our airspeed and runway length the pilot didn't find a need for reverse thrust.

haven't jou noticed that the flaps were not extended during take off? is that normal
+Cesar Rodriguez Yes, it is normal for the flaps not to be extended during takeoff.
Nice
Where was this flight coming from and where did it land
This flight was from AMS to BHX.
usina eolica voadora???
+Gabriel Gatto Sim. Eolica voadora Localizado no Canal Inglês na Europa.
The lack of flaps at takeoff is very unsettling. Many accidents have occurred with other aircraft not having at least 15 degrees set.
+H G From what I understand the Fokkers are rated to takeoff with no flaps set. Although if you have never flown on one, it could be a bit of an unsettling sight.
Wat zullen we ze missen, wat zullen we Fokker missen!
WTF, no flaps on takeoff?.
It doesn't need
@@MMM-bu7xu Ok, thanks.
Doesn't hurt on you ears ?
+Horse lover The sound was not too hard on the ears in this seat. I would say the DC-9's have more cabin noise in this location than the updated "turbofan" Fokkers (F70/100).
RIP AA's F100
I never flew AA's F100's however flew the F-28 and F-100 with US Air when I was very young. Did you fly any F100 routes on AA?
DFW-LBB-DFW, years and years ago
I have been on a F70 AND on KLM
Erick Alvarez Awesome!
Heh, flaps are not down on takeoff. I guess it's not needed on this bird.
That is correct. It seems like the majority of Fokker 70 departures I have seen on RUclips do not include extended flaps.
Absolutely phenomenal!!!! I will have the same seat in a month from STR to AMS :) Like & sub!
Thank you for watching and enjoy your STR-AMS flight! You will really enjoy this seat.
LoveJT8D watched it again today, still awesome;) my flight was absolutely awesome, too! Check it out:)
RR
Rolls Royce tay engines
Best when you sit right next to them ;)
