- The Fokker 50 that returned last Saturday from London was KLMs last commercial flight operated with this aircraft type. KLMs fleet the now consists solely of jet-powered aircraft. Please note this video Includes a few simulator images.
De Fokker 50 die afgelopen zaterdag terugkwam uit Londen was de laatste commerciële vlucht van dit type vliegtuig bij KLM. De KLM-vloot bestaat vanaf nu uit louter straalvliegtuigen. Let op: deze video bevat enkele simulator beelden.
What a great surprise it was to come across this excellent video created for the “Fokker 50 Farewell Party” in February of 2010. The video was brilliantly filmed and edited mainly by Nils Volkerts, then a young first officer I had the pleasure of working with on many occasions. I flew the F50 for 14 years with KLM Cityhopper UK from March 1996, the last 8 years having been on a night-stop basis from Amsterdam. I met a lot of fine people during that time and seeing the video again took me right back. If you’re reading this Niels, once again thanks for such a great record of good times on a fine aircraft - and I hope you’re well.

Gott was habe ich es geliebt wenn meine Mama mit mir von Hamburg nach Amsterdam geflogen ist. Immer Fokker 50 und später gelegentlich Fokker 70 und abends zurück selten 737 oder A310... Das WAREN ZEITEN... MAMA HAT ES GELIEBT für KLM zu arbeiten... Die Abgabe an Ogden und die Digitalisierung hat in der Fliegerei Herzen gebrochen, aber so ist der Lauf der Dinge... Wir ehren was war. Danke Fokker 50 für ein volles Logbook und einen Lebensinhalt ❤️

Wat leuk dit te zien.Ik heb van 1981-1997 in DÜS voor de KLM gewerkt en o.a. ook OPs gedaan voor de F27 en F28...
Really gets a little emotional, its the pride that they take in flying and the passion that makes this plane truely beautiful.
The music is fine by the way makes you focus on the video not the music...!
Loved the fokker 50, flew on them on a couple of occasions. Very quiet comfortable aircraft to fly on. Would love to fly in one again
in panama there is an airline which is flying them and buying more of them this year
I can remember being a really small girl and going to pick up my Oma from Bristol airport. She used to fly in and out on the KLM F50. Years later I started going to visit her and flew on them. I am going to miss them very much!
My dad is a pilot on the Fokker 50 and works on ”Amapola Flyg AB” in sweden, and i think i have flying with him 50 sectors (i think, or more)
And i can say one thing, if you have the chance to fly this beautiful aircraft, TAKE IT.
I know this airplane from my long jumpseat experience and it is a beautiful sound!

Almost 7 years since this beauty is gone. I can't believe that at the end of this year the Fokker 70 will leave the fleet as well. As a child I have so many memories to these Fokker aircrafts. It makes me a bit sad as well.

We've lost a lot of beautiful planes in a rather short period of time. The Fokker 50, Fokker 70/100, MD-11 and now also the 747. Pretty sad that all those icons are now gone. Only some boring twin engine jets remaining..
@@TB-if7px Thats so true, its so sad of the 747-400. she couldn't even have a normal goodbye. When i was a little kid, i said everytime, Thats the most
beautiful plane ever. And now she is gone... Fortunately I am also a 777-300er fan! But damn, thats so sad.
@@markkrumbe5862 I also love the 777 family, as well as I love the 787 family. But none of these come even close to the uniqueness and beauty of planes like the MD-11 and the 747. I get that the Queen had to go, had the opportunity to fly her jumpseat, and it was really noticeable that she was on her last leg, but there will never be a plane that I'll love just as much as her, even though the customer experience on the 777 and 787 is 10 times beter.

Super cool video KLM ! Enough to lift my rather somber mood this morning . Sad to you guys retire that magnificent Fokker 50 , though I never board one myself .
The last time I ever board a Fokker was an older version Fokker 27 Friendship back during December 1987 !
By the way , may I know what happened to the retired Fokker 27/50 fleet ? Shame to see it mothballed in some aircraft graveyard .

I've flown in Fokkers (F-50 and F-28/F-70) back in the mid-1990s in the Philippines and Papua New Guinea-Solomon Islands respectively. It was such an era I now miss, thanks to videos like this. Yes! Fokker for Life! When will Rekkof take to the skies?

What a cracking video, the way it was shot and put together in respect into probably one of the best fokker's ever built, I had the luxury of one of these on a short klm flight back in the mid 90's operating a short haul flight as a connector and for the first time flying, it didn't dissapoint its just a shame klm are no longer operating these machines anymore.
Veel aan de Fokker 50 gewerkt...motorcooling...oiloutlet...airintake...diffuser. Prachtige film! Ik werk nog bij Fokker. Nu in Hoogeveen.

notice it IS a jet, no cowl flaps, and if it was not a jet, did you see the N2 pressure gauge?, this is TURBINE speed, sorry, no pistons here!!
@@andyvan5692 Do you know the difference between a turbojet plane and a turboprop plane? They both use turbojet engines but the difference is a conventional turbojet equipped plane creates thrust which pushes the plane while a turboprop plane use a turbojet engine connected to a shaft connected to a reduction gearbox connected to a propeller which produces thrust. So, just because there are no cowl flaps and you see an N2 pressure gauge doesn't alter the fact that this is still a prop plane which uses a jet to turn the prop instead of a reciprocating engine to turn the prop.
So, instead of being pedantic, be didactic.

I flew on KLM Fokker 70 Norwich-Amsterdam very great service KLM!
Sadly PJ-KVI is parked besides Insel Hangar without engines, currently being preserved until both engines comes back from shop visit. KVH has been scraped, KVG and KVK are very active flying the routes of Aruba-Curacao-Bonaire. Good airplanes though.
I remember many great flights Gatwick to Eindhoven in the mid 70's. The on board 'flight bites' were great. A couple of rolls with thin meat and cheese, a cake and a miniature of Bols gin with a Bols shot glass which we kept as a souvenir. All issued in a brown paper bag. The service was always friendly and impeccable.A great loss to aviation.

Most of those aircraft shown in this video still flies today for Inselair as PJ-KVK/KVI/KVG and KVH for spare parts.

I will mis this beauty! Unfortunatelty i never got the opportunity to fly one, since my flight was changed to a F70 :(. I booked this flight to fly the F50, and then they put up a F70 :(.

aer lingus operated this aircraft from 1989 to 1995 and I remember going to edinburgh on it, very fast it cut the time on descent as it didn't have to use the wide range of approach as jets need

My first ever flight was on a KLM Fokker 50 chity hopper. It was exciting to take of, you could feel it flying. Second flight a few hours later was a Jet. I was dissapointed, how boring the take off was.

The Q-400 aircraft would be a great replacement for the Fokker 50 at KLM! Hopefully KLM will consider the Q-400 as a great midrange regional airliner to add to KLM's fleet!

Is the reason why it's called city hopper is bc it only flew to city to city during that time when it used be in service
Tolles Bildmaterial (und dafür Daumen hoch) aber ich vermisse die Flug(zeug)typischen Geräusche wie die des Fahrwerkes beim Ein- und Ausfahren und die Gespräche, sowie den Funkverkehr ... wenn ich schon die Möglichkeit geboten bekomme auch im Cockpit "dabei" zu sein. Wenn ich Musik hören will, sehe ich VIVA oder MTV.
Gibt es VIVA noch? MTV spielt doch schon seit Jahren keine Musik mehr 🤣

the De Havilland Canada/Bombardier DHC-8 or even the ATR 42/72 series???
