Random idea: instead of blocking in the edge of the map with regular tiles, you could use it as a water tank or something. That way you'd have a clean edge but still use the space for something.
- 10:55, you can have this option wherever you are without panning to the duplicant. Open vitals tab, click once on your dupe and you will see his screen without panning to him. Also if you wish to quickly pan to your dupe without searching for him you can click on the stress icon or double click on him in vitals screen. I truly love your idea for thumbnails, they are really unique on YT! Great series and I can't wait for more
A pyramid shape is best for solar panels. You get more into a small space. You get more out of less space. You can get 7 in less space than you have for 5.
Just started a single dupe run and I've found it so much easier than playing with more dupes. Everything takes a lot longer but focusing on one thing at a time makes the gameplay a lot more interesting
the glas forge doesn't have to be on insulated tiles anymore - they changed that in a previous patch, the liquid glas inside the forge doesn't exchange heat anymore
some thoughts on solar panels, I recommend putting them as high in space as possible for two reasons, - maximize available space - the part of the solar panel you can walk on has some weird properties in that it blocks light and gas but doesn't block radiation at all. depending how radioactive space is you could use this property it to mutate plants and/or grow mutant plants.
Try using mode Allow manual use. You can disallow the duplicant from bringing the materials to it. It really comes in handy with kilns and such things so the auto sweapers can do their job. I think it would help a lot especially with this series.
I thought about that but that would mean no matter how high the priority for another command, my dupe will always go to the oil refinery or other operating machines.
I would love to automate the refining process using magma heat. Though in the end it's probably not gonna matter with all the volcanos you can find that already spew out refined metals.
In Classic, there is no meteor shower in home planet afaik (at least in my 500 cycles playthru), they have meteor shower in other planets. I think you can check them in the Starmap’s planet info
I know, but it zooms to the dupe and doesn't activate the move command yet. I would like to have one button macro that activates the move command for my dupe while staying where I am with the camera. But it's just wishful thinking.
My dupes always end up getting themselves stuck or nearly dying. Sometimes to the point that another dupe must come and build a ladder or something to save them. How do you avoid situations like this with the 1 dupe challenge? (Have you had to reload because Nathan made a fatal mistake?)
Can sone mod makers out there make life easier for Nathan and create a simple mod that makes "move to" accessible everywhere hahahah🤣. Always shooks my heart when I hear "with that out of the way", I always though its the end of the episode😭😭. Hahaha loveit.🥰
You don't really need to have so many access point. Any open tube is an exit point out of which they can catapult out off onto tiles 2 cells away. I personally only have 2 access points and 2 tube circuits. Set up so my dupes use the access point to go up and the firepoles to go down. I guess with 1 dupe it matter very little but for a base with a lot of dupe, they eventually drain all your power using them. edit: I cringed when you deleted that beautiful -60c degree surface. there goes the quasi infinite cooling source :)
Just some random idea to throw out here, instead of building your transit tube around your base, why don't you just build it through your base? It doesn't need jump off point, it just going through and maybe get some morale buff around. Just an idea and tbh just to help with my ocd a little bit, thanks
you need to handle shove voles ASAP. they will move around the map, eat metals and kill FPS. In order to contain them you need steel, obsidian or abysilite.

Interesting idea, never thought of something like that!
@@Nathans-Sandbox Do you think it would have an impact on controlling overall map temperature?
This is one of your best ONI series, Nathan - so much easier to follow, since it's just the one dupe. :)
Thank you so much, I appreciate that;)

Ah thanks so much for that tip, will come in handy!

I must say, this series are one of the better ones. Now I want to do 1 dupe challenge too.
Good luck if you do!

Another great episode, I love watching lil dupe Nathan working hard on the base!
👍
u can press the 1/1 thingy up top to go to the duplicant
since u only have 1 it will go to the one u want
I know, but it zooms in to the dupe which is what costs me the most time in this process.
Another great episode! Thank You!
Glad you enjoyed it!

i also just love these series! thank you for making good content nathan!
I'll do my best;)
A suggestion to probably solve your 'operating' issues.. Maybe bump up operating in the priorities tab?
I thought about that but that would mean no matter how high the priority for another command, my dupe will always go to the oil refinery or other operating machines.
Video idea: do a room full of refinement stuffs (i did this in my save with automated it works pretty good to be honest)

@@Nathans-Sandbox isn't it ultimate base? :(
Ah I still wanna try it, never had a magma smelting setup.
Lovin this series!
Cheers I appreciate that!

NGL, was really worried about entombment when you were tackling the regolith.😅
I watched closely;)
Great video Nathan😁
Cheers;)
Thumbs up before watching video, I am sure it's going to be great.
You're awesome!
great ! thank you !
👍
5:51 I wasn't clear on why you needed to add an air pump to the steam layer?
14:45
how did you instantly break all of the ladders?
Good Show
👍
Epic video
Thanks!
Clicking on the stressed icon will cycle through your dupes even if they are not stressed.
I know, but it zooms to the dupe and doesn't activate the move command yet. I would like to have one button macro that activates the move command for my dupe while staying where I am with the camera. But it's just wishful thinking.
goooooooooooood
👍
Are you using midjourney for your thumbnails?
Great videos, keep it up.
He does
Yep;)
How did you insta break all those ladders at 14:50 ?
Chained Deconstruction

So far I had to reload once when my dupe trapped himself inside a tile he just built. Other than that it was ok.
@@Nathans-Sandbox that's such a funny yet sad way to go

🤣👍
Perhaps , lock the doors, so Nathan can only perform the glass forge or oil task?
I will be forced to do stuff like this th more machines we get.
I placed a carbon skimmer in that room while I had my coal generators. It ate up the carbon dioxide and spit out oxygen. :-)
The carbon skimmer doesn't produce O2 though.
@@Nathans-Sandbox I guess I'm thinking of the deodorizer for making oxygen. The skimmer does clean up the carbon dioxide very nicely though.
True;)

To get into the base I need to enter an access point anyway. But in certain cases your stretegy makes sense, especially with many dupes.
Are you using a mod for different color tiles? No matter what I make tiles out of they are always the same color.
Yes it's material colors.
@@Nathans-Sandbox thanks, much better that looking at each time to see what it is made of.
Question one is it one dupe per planetoid? And where are you getting your thumbnails?
It's one dupe total and the thumbnails are from midjourney AI.
For neutronium edge why not shave it off with rockets
Could be an idea yes

That is actually the plan, just didn't get around to do it yet because there was seldomly a need to travel through the base.

I ended them in the next episode;)
@@Nathans-Sandbox cheers for that. they can be very annoying if they get below the space beome. keep up the great work, really enjoying your vids!
