There are quite a few very nicely restored bunker museums in Denmark unfortunately of course there's also a lot that's been destroyed or painted with graffiti, interesting thing is a lot of these bunkers in the middle of the small towns can't get rid of them so they just turned them into restaurants and Ice Cream Parlor switches really great
@@tinostruckmann I have been to the Bunkers on Guernsey pretty awesome and the Underground Hospital is huge and funnily enough the hospital was hardly ever used because they Germans realized that the wounded needed sunlight and day light to help their wounds heal. Either way the channels Islands are very worth a visit. Not as huge as Denmark lol.

Iv visited this place a few times when in jutland, locals told me that when its battery was fired most of the windows broke in fredrikshavn. They where never fired again.

Hey, my dad's side of the family immigrated on a ship from Germany to the United States. They settled between Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri also Kentucky.
Reminded me a lot of the Antlantik Wall museum in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Not as extensive, and definitly missing it's canons, but the fire control bunker is restored very nicely and really impressed me.

I know given the nature of war, you can't always preserve places like this..... But I wish everyone looked after their history like this! There are plenty of places who have treated their WW2 history like shit and it's a damn shame.... It was the most important conflict in history, and it needs to be remembered
Fantastic video! There is another bunker on the island of Langeland, also very well preserved, but it dates from the Cold War. It's called Langelandsfort. I've been there often and helped to translate their website into Dutch and English. My question is: did the Germans really expect an invasion in Fredickshavn? It seems so illogical to me. I would expect an invasion on the western coast, from the North Sea.
I was many years agoa (1976) in Hjørring, Danmark for a 10 dayas visiting and had some tours also such as to Skagen there you can already smell the fish smell from miles away, ha ha ha. And also a tour trip to the North but I haven't seen a bunker let alone bunker complexes or anything like that, so this video gives more insight, thanks !!!
But they have that place down where the boats come in where there's a bakery and you can have fresh baked salted bread with whatever fish you want that is worth the trip best bread I've ever had :-)

Laughing at my out-of-shape pain will you LOL I think in life we all aspire to having a job doing something we love :-) all right question at hand you are correct Bangsbo was guarding the entrance to kattegat with similar and larger Canon installations in Norway the Western beaches to Denmark was guarded with installations running down the coast all the way down and across the coast of France I did a walk-through of one of the well-preserved bunker museums facing west it is called Hanstholm it's on my playlist :-) there were several other large bore Canon installations that with a little luck I will be able to fly out and visit in a few weeks and bring to you in a few month but of course also the Western approach was so vast given the distance to England that the luftwaffe played a large part and protecting that direction

Now I kept my bench above 375 and do not compete in anything . Yes a few American, British and Italian ships were sunk alone by the Frits X and Henschel guided bombs. And a few were hit around the Normandy landings. I will look into some more specifics for you and take them in a QA, maybe Drachinifel can join me on that one.

There was a lot of Air Raids and Allied Plumbing during the year in the five years of German occupation over 1,200 Allied aircraft was shot down over Denmark but there was no direct seaborne assault since that took place in France this also left a bunkers in good shape since the Germans left them in good order after they surrendered and many of them was taking over by the Danish military and thus preserved further

Absolutely amazing. The UK Channel Islands have also preserved German Bunkers and Underground Hospitals. Very worth a visit.
